Excellent library! Huge facility, clean, friendly librarians and lots of activities and events for the kids. This place has definitely kept me and my family beat the summer boredom and HEAT this year! You might not know but here you can get free flower and herbs seeds to grow for free. I love that! They also have coloring pages and puzzles to work on for kids and adults. We're waiting on the cafe to open and until that happens that'll just bring this library awesomeness to the next level. read more

Simply a great place to study and get assignments done. It's quiet, large, plenty of seating and computers available, and accessible to anyone. I've been coming here sometimes when I don't feel like working/studying from home and need to change the scenery. There's also private study rooms available on a first come, first serve basis which can be booked for up to 2 hrs. Plenty of books and reading material for kids as well. Open all days of the week as well with the exception of holidays. Good stuff! read more

I really like this library. I remember when it first opened and no one knew about it. You could go check out DVD without having to be on a waitlist. Not anymore; everyone knows about this location now. They have a lot of events for kids, teen group, and adult classes. I have been taking free computer classes. I am so happy with the classes. The librarians who are teaching the classes are very knowledgeable and helpful. And the classes are FREE. Love that. The library has an abundance of computers for you to use. The kids library is so cute. They have it in a separate room just in case they get loud. They have computers in there too. They offer all kinds of activities during the summer for your kiddos. Very quiet. Great place to just come and read a book out of the comfort of your home. All you need is your driver's license to acquire a library card. There's even a place for kids to read. They have summer reading programs for adults and children. Very clean as well. Do it be alarmed, it is attached to the lone star campus. This is a waste of time if you plan on doing work. I've been coming here for 3 weeks and every single day the internet has been horrible! On and off, on and off! I finally realized they aren't fixing it after multiple complaints and staff admitting it's not reliable! I'm packing up and leaving to use a coffee shop for internet (front desks idea/recommendation). Honestly, this says a lot about them being a college, I would rather drive a distance than have to attend here(luckily I don't). Of course, this is also a Public library, so to the public, find a better place. read more

Love coming here to study! They have small private rooms to study in, which are on a first come first serve basis. Though, you can book a room in advance but it must be more than 3 or 4 people. This campus library is pretty spacious and I love all the sections they provide to sit, as well as the many computers for guests to use. Student IDs provide as your library card, which is a huge plus! Making an ID is fairly easy as you just speak to someone at the front desk upstairs and they will set you up in about 5 minutes. The staff members are super friendly and helpful with any questions and concerns you have. FYI: Just be careful if you are a student and parking in the library section. You may get a parking citation, and they do ask for students to park in the student parking area. I got a warning once and just want to share to future comers! read more

One of the best libraries in Houston by far! I love this library. It shares the campus with Cy-Fair community college, so it is very easy to find. The library is great and has a wonderful collection of all kinds of books. Yes, I love the Harris County Public Library. The service has always been friendly and they are very helpful. I personally have always enjoyed their location, as it is very modern and well organized. I actually prefer the Harris county public library to the Houston public library, for some reason the people at the Houston public library never seem very happy... The only bad thing about the Harris County Public library is that since it is so popular, wait times for books on hold are very long. But they have an internet service that sends you an email when they are ready. I really love that! Also, you can go on their website and browse their very extensive collection! I love this place! They are a great resource to the community. I am here for the seminars with SBDC. The seminars are awesome, the information and support they provide is very much appreciated. If you're looking to build your new business or expand your existing business this is where you need to be. I also like the support and events for my kids. This library rocks! My family reads a lot and we have always been book buyers, not library folk. Money's been tighter the last year or so, so we began getting some books from the library. I very rarely go in and browse. Typically I go to the internet, pick the books I want and request them. They email you when they are there. What a service! Once you check the book out, go back to the internet and you can renew the book twice so it is yours for 6 weeks! The books can come from any of the Harris County libraries so the wait can be a few days to weeks. Also, it depends on if there are any other people waiting on the book but it will show you what your number is in the queue. If you have kids, the children's library is to die for. It is kind of separated in it's own room and has its own libarians. The library has DVDs and videos including children's stuff. They even have leapfrog things you can checkout. The best part of the library is the self checkout. I love it when it works, it is a lot of fun! read more

This library is very nice and I love that they have the "self check-out" which is very convenient and something I had not ever seen at a library before. I also like their "hold" system (unless I did it wrong) everyone's requested books are on the shelf and you just search by your name to pick up your books, as opposed to having to stand in line and ask someone at the front desk for them. It is really big and, like others have mentioned, it is connected to the Lonestar CyFair campus which will come in handy for me when school starts. Also, it has a coffee shop right inside. My biggest complaint is that when you log onto the computers, there's not a direct link to the library's catalogue, so if you're new to this location, you're left trying to figure it out on your own or ask the desk clerk. And, there's one clerk in particular who's not very friendly and seems irritated when you have to ask for anything. The others seem nice enough and very helpful. read more

A lovely, LARGE library. I love that it is both an academic library for the community college and a Harris County Public Library, because you get all the benefits of going to a public library to study + the size and business hours of an academic library. Most other public libraries open much later, while this one opens at 8:00. There are plenty of spots with outlets to sit and work for hours. The ladies at the reference desk are helpful and the library and bathrooms are clean. My only complaint is that the Caucasian man with the receding hairline who sometimes works at the reference desk upstairs is a bit of a condescending prick. I've seen him answer questions or help people with assignments or technology with a clearly patronizing attitude. I've also witnessed it firsthand when I expressed concerns about the behavior of some other library patrons. He was very dismissive and rude in a "fake nice" way. Luckily, he's not always there. read more

Looking for a nice quiet place to study? This library is massive. There are so many places to hide with a good book or laptop. It is on lone star college campus but is open to the public! It is actually a Harris County Library. The late hours and open 8 days a week sold me! I am a online student and I always need a spot to relax and focus! The staff here helped me with every question eagerly! The place is big enough to get lost in a book.... lol jk but it is a big library! The atmosphere is like a college campus during the day and morning. Don't fear if coming with the family. There is a children's room equipped with computers and books for the little ones and also a teen room with computers for them as well. If you work up a hunger there is a cafe inside the library for a light snack or coffee. It is the most comfortable library I have visited by far! They get 5stars 6 if it was available! This is a really big library. Super big. Big wide open first level is non-fiction, computers, and kids section, second level is fiction. The kid section is right when you come in, enclosed off, and with its own librarians... this would be awesome if I had kids but I don't lol There is quite a big selection of movies too. You can just browse through them... they are mostly old movies no one has ever heard of, but there are some more recent ones here and there. You can always request a movie or book online and they will send it to this library and hold it in blue envelopes for you. Self-checkout is nice and easy too. Occasionally when I've had to ask the librarians for something they're really nice. Like others have said, it's attached to the Lone Star College campus. So you have to park a little far on any given day. You can also expect lots of traffic from the college kids and even just normal parents who come here and dump their kids so they can surf the internet. It's even crowded on weekdays at nights, right up to closing. Even though there are a lot of computers, it can still be hard to find one that's not being used. The computers are stock dells and a little old, but still quite functional. If you're a germophobe, bring your own laptop. And if the coffee shop is open, you can hear their loud espresso machine. So even though it's a library the first floor can get lots of traffic and sometimes noisy. I'd go upstairs or to the counseling section if I need quiet time. All in all, with the pure size of this library and the nice features in it, you probably won't be disappointed. read more

Modern, pretty, and big library. It opens around 7am and closes late. It's a good place to study, although not my favorite. If you're a student here and need to seriously study, I'll recommend reserving a room in the library or going to CASA open lab. - I'll be honest, I'm not sure whose idea was to place a game room right next to the library. Every time that door opens I can hear students chit chatting and playing around. Plenty of computers available. If you're trying to use them on registration day, it's going to be impossible to find a computer or getting good internet connection. So bring your laptop or get early. It's very very quiet around 7am and around closing times, even Saturday's. Library assistants are very nice and helpful. I believe copy machines cost $0.10 per sheet. You do need a student ID for that to insert your cash. If you don't, talk to the assistants to see your options. read more

the library itself is attached to Lone Star College which means there's a lot of traffic at any given day...even summer when i was there almost every day. there's a small cafe in the library with a microwave so you can get free wireless, buy a coffee, surf the net, and microwave your lunch all at the same time. its free wireless throughout. there are two levels and plenty of room to set up a laptop (including outlets everywhere) and/or lounge in a couch to study or take a quick nap. the downstairs and upstairs areas both have personal computers to work on if you dont have your own. i warn you, downstairs is a lot of traffic and not a good area for quiet studying, make your way upstairs in the far corners. they do have the typical shelves for books but i just find/reserve them online and pick it up. there is a unique area designed for children. its set off to one side and is very cute and amiable to children of different ages. parking sucks. i usually have to park far...there's plenty of spaces but the close ones are always taken... the check out system is kind of nice bc its self check out. you just place your books on the machine and ta-dah you are done. but if you need the assistance of a librarian, they were all really nice and helpful, even the volunteers. smiles everywhere. its nice library - a bit far from me, but a good place to study or surf. read more

This is a very nice library! There's a kid friendly room immediately as you walk in on the left. There are over a hundred computer stations for use everywhere - in a common area, in separate rooms and distributed along the bookshelves. The video and music area within the first several rows has a large selection. The best part is any books or videos can be requested online and waiting in interoffice envelopes in the pick up section straight across from checkout!! So easy. They even have a mobile app now. Other than the main checkout desk, there are also three to four self check kiosks. As you leave on the right, stop by the Friends of the Library Bookstore. Very cheap books and textbooks for sale. The best library that I have visited close to the North Houston area. This place is huge for a public library. It is pretty kid friendly as well and I was just surprised by their selection of books.
