I had a very frustrating experience at the Social Security office near 290, where security was handled by Paragon Security. As soon as I walked in to update my status from green card to citizenship, one officer, who I couldn't identify initially, was extremely rude. He kept demanding what I needed in a condescending way, making me feel small. After I got my ticket and checked in, I was called to the window, and that same officer started yelling across the room, in front of everyone. I asked him why he was being so disrespectful, but he just escalated. After that, I tried to speak to another officer, hoping to get a supervisor, but he also refused to identify himself at first. Eventually, he gave me the last name Menendez, but again, he didn't want to offer any proper help or respect. Both officers acted with the same aggressive attitude for no reason. If you need to get SS card, get replacement card or name change go to the end of building to get in line. The front of building is for all other SS needs. Sooooooo.... Do not come here if you do not have an appointment scheduled. Even if you arrive at opening you are in for an extremely long wait. I made that mistake and waited 3 hours for assistance in changing my name. Other than that, with an appointment, you are usually seen within 20 mins and everyone here is extremely nice. They make everything painless as long as you come prepared with proper documentation. read more

When trying to schedule appointment online, there was no link only 1800 number to call. I called and they said more than 100min wait time and they asked if they can call back. So I waited and never got the call. Then I came to local office, they gave QR code to fill the application and after application submitted, there was a link to schedule appointment. The earliest available date is one month away. I set up time to do it today and came today, and I was turned back to go back home. I wasted my day and time to drive here and be sent back home. They need to update their online scheduling system and let people make appointments online like usps has passport or driver license appointments. Very disappointing:( read more

The online service did not provide the answers I needed, so over two days I spent a total of 2-1/2 hours waiting to talk to a person and not a computer generated assistant. Understandably expect to wait a bit. If you come just before opening like 8:30am (it opens at 9am) you'll be seen moderately quickly. I got here at 9 and left around 10:15am. You may have to wait outside in line depending on the time and amount of people. Bring an umbrella, water/snack, a little fan if you have it. Bathrooms and whole facility is very clean and everyone is friendly and helpful! It was overall a great experience! The attendant I had was knowledgeable and able to help me despite the fact that I did not have the right document at first I happened to have another document that worked and she had asked about it. I went today to change my name. I made an appointment for 10:30 am and I was seen at 10:32. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The staff were also incredibly nice. When I went to check-in from the link, there was a glitch and it didn't give me a number. The guard was very kind and she told me to try the link again because they have that issue. I had to visit to take a personal matter that pertains to social security. It was my first time here and I had nothing to really expect other than how long will I have to wait. Once you arrive there is a place for you to check in by entering your social security number and choose from a list of items as to why you were here. Next they will call your number and check you in. This is a way to narrow down why you are here. You then return to your seat and wait.... Next they will call you by name to complete your transaction. It was somewhat painless compared to visiting the DMV where i had to visit a few weeks ago. Just bring your patience and any documents that you feel pertinent. Absolutely horrible experience. All I needed to do was change my name. I had my current card, divorce decree, and birth certificate. I had to leave and come back twice because my picture ids were expired. They said they would accept my medical records with my name and DOB. When I got back they said my records needed to be signed by the person who printed them out at the doctors office even it clearly had a time stamp and the name of the person who printed it. I asked to speak to a supervisor on site to get to the bottom of why they were jerking me around to get what I needed. Bottom line don't accept bad treatment, there is always someone you can speak with to get help. read more

As of the posting of this review: Suite A = SS benefits related inquiries Suite B = name change / SS card new or replacement You need to be aware that even if you show up in the morning (@opening) and you see a long line, read the signs or listen to the security guard as it/they will let you know if you are in line at the right Suite or you need to walk over to the other one depending on your needs. Arrived 10 minutes before opening. Stood in line to get in and then signed in at a kiosk where I received a number/ticket to a window where a representative then took my information and asked what I needed. They logged the information which put me into electronic queue. Sat down and needed to wait for my name to be called for a different representative to then assist me w/my personal matters. 3 hours later (yes) I was able to speak to someone and they were patient and let me take my time. There's free parking, a restroom, chairs and that's it. You should bring something to pass the time and note, no food or drink inside. If you're coming from the city (290) you need to exit at Senate Ave, NOT 529. No way you will make it across the exit lane all the way to the right without risking lives. read more

Went there right before opening and was out within an hour and a half . Very fast and friendly service was able to get my issue resolved .

Only giving 1 star because there's not an option for a lower rating. The security guard was a PRICK. I came here to get a name change done with my 2 kids. There were no seats available so I went to stand up along the walls with everyone else. He came up to me and told me I needed to find a seat even if they were separate seats.... yeah that didn't happen. My kids shared a seat as I sat next to them. He comes over 10 minutes later and tells me that if my kids don't have headphones they can't be on their tablet THE SOUND WASN'T EVEN LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD. I am in the process of changing my name, and Per the SS main phone number, I mailed basically all of my government issued ID to this office over a month ago. I've tried calling no less than 10 times, but can never get through to anyone to check status of my documentation. This is unacceptable. Came in around 2:45pm was called at 2:55 the lady at window 11 was very kind and gave me the paperwork needed. I sat back down and filled out my paperwork which was ALOT. By the time I was finished, my name was called to window 1 and again great customer service, she was very helpful and was already aware of my case by the information that was given from my check in with the lady in window 11.
