Worst services in the nation! Long waiting time! After I am called at the Counter, the representative asked me to go to multiple counters in the middle unnecessarily wasting my valuable time. It took 1.10 hr (one hour 10 minutes) at the counter to renew my daughter's learner driver license despite having appointment on April 29th at 345pm. They don't care about your valuable time. We spent over two hours in total and they wanted us to spend the whole day. Shared our experience with Trenise, the Lead on duty but to no avail. Very much disappointed and perturbed on this. There is a lady at the door that upon entering you tell her what you're there for and she will give you the correct form you need and see you to check in station. Quick barcode scan, ticket print, and boom wait for your number to be called. My wait was not longer than putting my last name on my form, number called, process started. No, NO an NO! I was failed on the vision test due to one eye at 20/40. Illegal per Texas law when the better eye is 20/20. Returned with new glasses and the same result. Now have been to two eye doctors and am 20/20 in good eye, 2040 in weak eye (legal to drive WITHOUT CORRECTIVE LENSES per Texas law. My weak eye has now been diagnosed as a retina issue and the retina specialist wrote that NO corrective lenses would improve the vision in the weaker eye AND that I do NOT need glasses to drive as my COMBINED eye vision is 20/25. These people at the DPS are obviously NOT TRAINED AND DO NOT KNOW OR FOLLOW THE LAW. YES, you bet I'm angry. Paid $$ for glasses that DID NOT HELP AND I DID NOT EVEN NEED! UNACCEPTABLE!! read more

The staff was great about directing on where to go as soon as you walk through the door! They also give you number so you are called according to when you came in. DMV 5 star rating? Yes! I booked online appointment on Sunday for Tuesday morning 7:45am appointment to get new license after mine recently expired. When I walked in, let them know with confirmation text "button" I was there. Within seconds of notifying them by text I arrived, they called me to booth 32. You can also sign in on kiosks. A nice agent just starting his day welcomed me and requested old license, second ID (passport), paid my $14 with credit card, snapped a photo and was out the door with my paper license at 8am. Based on the reviews I'm reading, I might have experienced an anomaly because my time at the Spring DMV was well...about what I expected. I booked my online appointment 1 week in advance. I checked in online 30 minutes early around a few blocks away. That was at 301pm. I walked inside and was greeted by a nice clerk asking what what my appointment was for. He then directed me to the desk where they check your paperwork. The people behind the counter collected all my required documents, made them nice and neat and sent me to check in. Since I had already remotely checked in I was able to sit down and wait my turn. I think online check in saved some time. The time was now 316. My number was called at 329pm. The DMV clerk was very helpful with my out of state license transfer. She even made sure I was satisfied with my new license photo. After I paid and walked out the front door, the time was 348 pm. So I've been to this DPS a few years back and was in utter amazement at how efficient it was. You can check in line from the web or mobile app before you even get there. Then you arrive greeted by staff to help with forms or confusion. You then are shown were to check in to get ticket/number and wait to be called in the large sitting area. I mean it was GREAT!!! Now I went today and although it still trumps some of the other locations I've been too, I can definitely see there has been a little slide downhill. Not by much but it doesn't seem as smooth a process as it was before. You are greeted still as you walk in, but that draws up a line sometimes and is unnecessary because it really isn't that difficult to pick your own forms. I mean let me check in first maybe and get In line before you haggle me about what forms I need. I'd like to ask you, not you ask me or look at me crazy bc I'm looking for my own form. So I thought that was kind of weird. Needless to say, overall this is still a great location and anyone who has ever helped me behind a desk has always been very friendly, informative and quick. What a change from the last time we'd been here. It is absolutely indefensible to have to wait nearly 6 hours from arrival time in order to RENEW your drivers license. There is no excuse whatsoever for the inefficiency one sees here. Couldn't make an appointment online, so we went in shortly after 8 AM. Doors were shut shortly after 9 AM prohibiting anyone else from entering. As one person left, another was allowed in. During lunch hour, all employees (spare a few) leave for lunch. Meanwhile, everyone waiting sits and continues to . . . wait. Shortly before 2 PM, we're called. Ten minutes at the desk, total. Employee was very courteous. She is the one and ONLY reason this location gets 2 stars, as it is clearly a 1-star facility. I recently went to the Spring DPS Mega Center. I've needed to go but have been dragging my feet because of Covid. I am happy to report DPS has implemented several Covid health practices and my experience was very orderly. I scheduled my appointment online. When I arrived, DPS confirmed my appointment, checked my temperature and asked if I had any symptoms or been around others in the past 2 weeks with Covid. I was then fitted with a wrist band and told to follow the markers to continue the process for my appointment. I had printed the forms online, completed at home and brought them with me. There were markers on the ground to help people know where to stand in line and the waiting room chairs were spaced apart, both to promote social distancing. Everyone was required to wear a mask. All said and done, it took me about 45 minutes on a Friday morning to complete my task at the DPS. read more

I still can't believe it. It made my day. You give them your phone number and it will periodically send you updates on your appointment time. First off, the greatest thing going was the "get in line" system. Gone baby .. gone. So what's the key to being successful at getting your license renewed. First .. get there early - like 20 to 25 minutes early "before the door is open". Yes, I know that's like really early! But if you don't get there really early the wait will be enormous!! When you walk in you have a super helpful lady there who can answer pretty specific questions and let's you know to get a ticket and find a seat. What killed it for me was the blasting of numbers in English, followed by the numbers being blared in Spanish. It is almost non stop and damn annoying. My pearl of wisdom is bring noise canceling headphones. This also helps you from the socially unaware jerks who insist on talking on their phones on speakerphone. Or if they are using the phone properly they have to talk as a level so loud that you know that some chick loves Steve very much. Once you sit down it goes rather quickly. The dmv officials are nice and helpful. They are just people so don't get all up in arms over your wait. TLDR : it's loud bring headphones. read more

The lady was very rude right off the bat and started telling us we didn't have proper documents. We brought everything we needed. living at a children's home, my parents aren't my instructor and had an adult staff member with me who was certified for me to get my drive time. The lady kept telling us that he was not the parent and only the parent or family member could sign. This lady was the whole reason for my 1 star. If I could but 0 I would. Hello I would like to compliment Jessica Banion at the Lubbock DL office. She is a Superstar!! She is AMAZING!! Today, I went to this location to transfer my wife, mom and my Driver License from another state. I dreaded having to go to the Texas DPS because its always been a bad experience in the pass in other states. When I got there, I was totally surprised. This location was very organized and employees were nice. One particular employee, Jessica, started helping my mom and I. She was so efficient, friendly and so helpful!! She had a smile the entire time. Even though we made some mistakes on the form, Jessica assisted us so that we wouldn't have to come back. My wife went to 2 other stations and they told her to leave the booth because she didn't fill out a few things. Never explaining to her what needed to be completed. After Jessica completed our transactions, I asked if she can help my wife next. She said "Sure, I can help her". I was extremely happy since the other employees refused. I must have came at the perfect time, because as soon as I entered my phone number into the system, they called it. Went right to the teller and filled out my form on the spot. Was able to get in and out for a license renewal in less than 15 mins. This system doesn't work at every DPS location, since not all locations are nearly this big, and some locations have many customers that may not even have cell phones. But I'm glad I seemed to have found a location where there are more tellers than customers!! Tellers are so nice too. They even waived my $11 fee for a lost license, I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. read more

I write this as I watch two employees having a conversation and waiting 10 minutes before calling the next person. More employees are moving around to take bathroom breaks than people getting up to go to their indicated station. After waiting for our number to be called for 4 hours we were forced to leave so I could get my 17-year old granddaughter to work. All we needed was for her to get her State ID. We had all the paperwork filled out in advance. In the State's infinite wisdom they group people needing Driver's Licenses tests and people just needing an ID together. Then they call the folks who had Driver's License appointments and the rest - forget about them. DPS always has operated with no regard of actually serving the Public. First time at a DMV in Houston and it was an interesting experience. I really like their system. Its very efficient and gets you in and out quickly. Here's how it works. When you enter you go to a kiosk and enter your phone number. You're virtually placed in line. You'll receive a text when you're ready to be seen. Listen for the last 4 digits of your phone number, and beware...you only have 30 seconds to respond before you receive another message saying that you can't be helped. I wasn't quick enough, but went ahead to the station and the clerk kindly assisted me any way. Whew! The parking lot was full when I arrived and so was the inside, but that darn system worked and I was out in 10 minutes! Niiice! Breaking news...DMV trips no longer have to be dreadful! read more

This location is better than the veterans memorial location as far as parking goes. You have to "get in line" online aka "make an appointment" otherwise they won't let you in. Don't bother going early either, they won't let you in. You have to come exactly within 10 minutes of your appt time. Once in you go to a kiosk and punch in your code from the online appt you printed out. You printed it out right? If not, they won't let you in! A ticket will pop out of the machine and the numbers being called are shown on TVs. You can sit back and people watch or YouTube while you wait. I recommend impractical Jokers or other funny videos to make you forget where you are. Oh yeah, no wifi here. Your number gets called, take a bad photo and off you go until what another 10 years before you have to do it over again. read more
