They update you on your status in line and how much longer till your turn. If you need more time you have the option of trying them to let them know that . I'll start by saying how wonderful it was to get in and out super fast...15-20 minutes to replace my lost license! Of course, I got there at 7:30 AM on the nose and got in line using the online "get in line" service from my phone as soon as I actually got in line physically. I highly recommend this. WHY ONLY 3 STARS you ask??? I was called to desk #12 and was super friendly to the guy who completely dismissed my kindness. Obviously, I was annoying him just being there...work (it's a crazy thing). This wasn't really a big issue for me because I don't care about his poor attitude as long as I get what I need done correctly and done quickly. HOWEVER, he completely ignored my answers to the questions on the form. I wanted to donate to all charities given the option to donate to - he didn't add it to the cost. I am registered to vote and he selected NO in his system. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry to get my daughter to school on time and didn't check until I was halfway down the road. This really irritates me. You don't have to be friendly if rude is your default mood, but at least do your job right. I see much success in this man's future. Good job, guy! My advice to everyone, you must act as a supervisor and double check their work because not all of them are competent, especially the rude fella at desk #12. incredibly disorganized office, the online check lists to use for guidance aren't accurate but you won't find that out till you show up. Depending on the day they ask for different forms of documentation and I had to take off 3 days of work to come during their "work hours" because each time I came back they wanted different documents. I l asked them to go through a detailed list of what I needed. Each time I came back that answer changed. Waisting my time and theirs. I've never seen so many rude people in one place. Had an appointment for this morning to renew my mother's license and getting in was a breeze. There's multiple checkpoints to guide you which can be helpful. However, once we got to the vision test the lady kept raising her voice at me as if I was a child when her instructions weren't very clear to begin with. Due to COVID, I was trying to keep my distance from other people and was walking around one person when the same lady yells at me to cut through a different employee and customer. I informed her I understood her instructions on where to go, I simply wanted to maintain my distance at which point she was speechless as if she'd forgotten our current situation. I will say the entire process was the quickest I've ever experienced meaning by the time we got to the window out paperwork hadn't even been started which immediately annoyed the employee. I did see hand sanitizer available for the employees but not any customers. There was no one wiping down surfaces or anything. You do have to schedule your appointment weeks out, but if you do early morning it should go quickly. We were done in about 20 minutes. Please keep in mind that the employees will get an attitude with you if you can't read their minds. read more

Very very very rude ! The guy at the door was so unbelievably rude and unprofessional! I am a foreigner and I needed my temporary id renewed. When I called and checked online they just told me to come in and show a prof of me being here legally so that's what I did. But as soon as I got to the door the guy stopped me shoved me a little card and said that I needed an appointment I was explaining to him and another lady for 30 min that that's not what I was told but they wouldn't let me in and put me into driver license test appointment in September! Which is not what I asked for at all but I guess I have no other choice. I showed them my expired temporary ID card and they looked at each other like oh I don't know what this is and I told the That's what I need renewed regardless I'm gonna have to come back here in September! Pro tip: Make an appointment online at 8:00 even if you don't plan on going until the afternoon. Once you get your appointment, you can reply to the text to extend it out until you will be ready to go. All the negative reviews? Come on, it's the DPS. No one WANTS to be there. Don't be a jerk to the people who work there and you'll be surprised at how polite and eager to help they can be. DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! It is their form of crowd control to avoid having everyone show up at the same time. It does NOT save a place in line for you or accelerate your wait in any form. It literally just adds you to the back of the line when you show up, so just show up when you can anyways. In Florida, we had this crazy idea that if you had an appointment, the ticket would be called at THAT time. Here in East texas, all it does is give you a ticket to get to the back of the line and shut up and wait. Worst part is, the ladies at the front immediately refer you to go stand in the information line regardless of what you're there for, which adds another 30 minutes to your wait. Once you get to the front, all they do is make sure you have all your paperwork so that you don't waste their employees time. They would rather waste YOUR time first. Then all they do is tell you to go check in at the kiosk and take a number, at which time, your wait REALLY starts. Be prepared to wait a couple hours even though you have an appointment. My advice is, don't make an appointment, skip the information line and just check in immediately at a kiosk, and just look online to make sure that you have all the necessary documents before arriving. read more

I was not looking forward to visiting the DPS Office to renew my driving license. At 3:20, my number was called. Linda Liberto was very professional and courteous. She made the difference. I received a ticket at the kiosk when I got there, since it was not allowing me to get in line on the internet and was called quickly. How are there so many bad reviews on this location? When you walk in, you're immediately greeted and the folks that work there, always answer all of your questions. Just like most DPS, there is always a huge line. They offer get in-line online. Some people go in with a bad attitude and they expect people not to get upset? Where's the logic in that? You give what you get! The saying goes a long way, 'kill them with kindness.' I went in at 10:30 to renew my license (I had my drivers permit) and I was out by 11:11 AM with no appointment. When I originally went to do my written test, I was in there 2 hours MAX. Out of all the other surrounding DPS, this one is your best bet. Quick service, friendly people. read more

My visit to renew my license went nice and smooth; people were informative, personal and friendly. I arrived at 7:32 and saw a long line, so I naturally thought I'd be there for an hour or more. The employee at the door asked people the reason for their visit and directed us accordingly. Had completed my renewal form before I arrived and signed it, brought my social security card, passport and driver's license, so I had all that I needed. Let me just say I overly love the people that I've come in contact with at this location. I was treated so badly at one of the other locations but the 2 times I've been here, these ladies made me feel like family. From the time I went to the front desk Christina Lamb made me feel so welcomed.. I had a problem at another location she immediately assured me that I wasn't the problem and quickly resolved the issue. She had amazing conversation and her confidence to resolving my issues was impeccable!! She then connected me with Kylene Guinea and she was so very friendly and very very accommodating! She told me don't worry, she had my back and she followed through and I ended up leaving with my Driver License.. she was prompt and went over everything with me on what to expect next. These ladies were absolutely amazing I asked for a supervisor... Karen Marves came out smiling and was super friendly... man I really see where the other 2 ladies get their behaviors from. Mrs Karen was definitely a leader... she went out her way to make sure I didn't need anything.. apologized for any inconvenience that I had come across.. gave me her name and said if I ever need any assistance I could reach out... and to top it off, she told me how to apply for a position with them!! It's kinda weird giving the DPS five stars, but the new system is awesome. As soon as we walked in, there was someone there finding out what we needed to do and pointing us in the right direction to get that done. You used to have to stand in line just to find out what form to fill out, etc. Plus the check-in system is great. If there is a long wait, you can leave and periodically check on the status of your spot in line. And if you leave and are too far away, you can simply reply to the text and they'll move you back in the line to give you more time to return. Overall, the staff was friendly and the system works. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. read more

The Texas DPS has implemented and appointment system which is beyond difficult. You can't schedule an appointment in advance of the current day, and even then you have to be online the hour the appointments are released and get one as soon as you can. Then, once you arrive at your scheduled time, be prepared to wait at least another hour. Tip, if you're there close to closing, they suddenly start moving fast. Another thing- do your research before you arrive! To be fair, the employees are dealing with a lot of nonsense because people show up without documents and act like they didn't know. Key word ACT. Everyone knows there are critical documents necessary when dealing with your identity so don't show up and cause everyone else to wait because you were too lazy to find the papers before you showed up. After seeing all the bad reviews was hesitant to visit this location. However, went online and received a 3:35 pm appointment via text. Arrived at 3:20 pm showed the DPS officer my appointment text, went inside and entered my cell number in kiosk and received a number. Waited in a sitting area near the front and my number was called at 3:45. Nice lady in booth # 30 took care of everything quickly and was on my way by 3:55. Thirty minutes in and out of a Friday afternoon is exceptional, just make certain you go online for an appointment to show the officer at the front door or they won't let you in. If you don't have a cell phone then print out the appointment time when it displays on you computer. read more

ROAD TEST REVIEW: The short amount of time that I spent inside the center was perfectly fine and polite. However, I went to this center for my driving test. I was soooooo close to getting a super nice and cool grader, but of course, with my luck, I got someone else last minute. The employee who graded me on my driving obviously didn't want to be there from the moment she opened her mouth. I should've hit the gas and run the second I started talking to her, but I was confident in my driving skills, despite how nervous I was. I know that everybody dreads the road test and that it's scary, but from seeing all the terrible drivers out on the road, I thought they couldn't be THAT strict. Boy, was I wrong. My grader failed me because my stops were "too harsh." What in the world?! Who's ever heard of somebody failing their test because they didn't make seamless stops?! She acted as if I slammed on the brakes for every stop, which I didn't. I made sure to look both ways and make a complete stop every time. But no, that wasn't good enough for her. Not to mention the time when she pulled out her phone and started to text or something. And THEN, there was a point where I had to turn onto a busy street from a neighborhood street. These cars were going about 45-50mph and I didn't want to make any reckless turns, especially with the grader being in the front seat. So I waited until there was an obvious gap that I could fit into. As it so happens, this took quite a while. There were a couple of cars waiting behind me, but none of them honked or anything. I guess she was just really impatient and cared more about getting out of the car than me being safe. She may be a great driver with years of experience on her hands, but I'm a noob. Give me a break! Who makes reckless turns on their driving test?! Isn't it normal for people to be super cautious?! This lady definitely didn't get the memo. She certainly didn't care how nervous I was or how this scary situation can affect a person's driving abilities. TL;DR If your driving test grader's name is HERRERA, RUN! You're gonna fail. There are nice graders though, just not this lady. read more

Wow. After reading all the reviews I wasn't sure about all these 5 star reviews but yep- this place deserves 5! First of all everyone is super friendly - but it's Texas so that's to be expected. Secondly the building is new - built just 4 years ago so the space is perfectly sized with ample waiting area and loads of stations available. The coolest is their text notification. No more wasting paper tickets- you just sign in and give them your cell number and wait. Periodically you get texts advising of wait times. Our wait was 6 minutes! It seemed crowded in the waiting area but things moved fast! All states could learn from this DPS! read more

I had heard of this mythical place... a place where renewing your driver license does not have to be the prelude to rage and / or melancholy... My office is pretty close to one of the smaller DPS offices but I thought it might be less unpleasant to drive 40 minute each way than stand in line for an hour or more in my crappy local place, so I headed out to the Mega Center. I used the online get in line system which worked fine except I apparently was in line at the other Mega Center! No matter, this issue was sorted out amicably and I waited a whole 3 minutes to be seen. The transaction itself was painless and quick... I even used a debit card! What can I say? A normally awful experience rendered awfully normal. Advice: take every document you can think of that may be applicable. I had been dreading having to go get my TX license after moving here. I read on yelp about mega centers and the get in line 'online'. I did and it worked well! I would have been confused if I hadn't read some reviews about how the online system worked. Only negative was the lady that actually helped me. She kept yawning and talked about needing a nap. I am SO GLAD I decided to drive out there today to renew my license. 1. There is an online queue system that allows you to get in line virtually. The online queue system ACTUALLY WORKS! they announce the current customer being served by your phone number and the # of the representative's desk you should go to. It's so easy! 3. There is plenty of parking, clean facilities, and nice staff - My helper forgot to give me my old driver's license back and I forgot to ask for it. He chased me down in the parking lot to give it to me. Needless to say, I was very appreciative! 4. Traffic on I-45. There were a few parts of the highway where it slowed down to about 20 mph, but for the most part it was smooth. You should be contraflow to traffic during the day so in my opinion, it's well worth it for a simple, reliable experience rather than the anticipation of an experience where you could be held up for hours... Incredibly efficient. I manage to lose my Driver's License more than anyone I know but this location makes replacing it a breeze! I went this past Monday after a rowdy weekend watching the US play in the World Cup and expected the rest of the world to be doing the same thing. They were- but this did not matter. I entered my phone number into the check-in machine and instantly received a text saying my wait would be 8 minutes.... 8 MINUTES. Amazing! After my number was called the rest of the process maybe took 5 minutes max and the woman working with me was helpful and polite-sweet even- never before would I have used those words to describe a DMV employee. 5-stars, there's no question. read more
