I'm just wondering why our tax payer dollars are paying employees that are RUDE AND LAZY. I was there for 1.5 hours and they called SEVEN PEOPLE. SEVEN! Oh, and theres still 57 people in front of me. That means that out of ALL their employees, 1 person is getting helped every 12 minutes. Is only 1 person working? Or half a person? There is absolutely no excuse for this. The security guard at the front is rude-- we get it, we don't want to be here either but it's your JOB! Customer service people, it's not that difficult. read more

I came to this location to get a replacement card since I recently got married. arrived in the parking lot at 12:40 on a Thursday and I'm in my car now at 1:37 writing this review! Everything complete. Not to mention I signed up for the wrong type of card and was placed on another list. The agents were very nice and quick! highly recommend. Oh, and I brought my toddler who was very anxious so the quick service was very awesome! read more

Got here at 8:30am to get in line they let us in 10 mins before 9am and sat people down. got out at 9:10am. Can't beat that. It's easy just get here before they open and if you want a name change or correction go to the card center part of the building. Not the front but the side. read more

Got here at exactly 9am on a Tuesday. Easy parking. Whole time there was about 10 minutes. Only about 5 people in the waiting room. Security guard is all business. Suggest you fill out your forms online first. I did go first on Monday at 11:30 and the waiting room was full so I left. Also almost no parking. read more

Name change. I went in at 9:00am out by 9:19. Fast and easy. Make sure you go to the left side of building where it says Social security Card. Take a number and fill out form online or they have them there. I took my marriage certificate, Driver license, and proof of citizenship. read more

5 stars for a government office? You might be looking at this wondering if it's opposite day. But it isn't. Changing my name (officially) was a breeze thanks to this place. I pulled into the lot and noticed the separate entrance for the card center - awesome. Then, I walked in and the front desk double checked that I had my form filled out before he let me check in. So it looks like they resolved the issue Clarrisa mentioned. I self checked in at the kiosk, sat down, and about 10 minutes later they called my number. You even sit across from a person at a real desk rather than stand at a counter. People: this is not the DMV. There was no attitude, no hassle. The woman who helped me was pleasant and the documents listed on the website were exactly what I needed. In and out in 20 minutes. Amazing! read more

Soooo slow.......why does it take hours just to change name on SS card? The security guard here is very rude to people. read more

Came here twice to get my last name changed. A coworker suggested this place because she didn't have to wait at all to change hers. Which goes in line with the couple reviews I had read on Yelp. Unfortunately I didn't get that lucky both times. First time I came at 9:30Am on a Tuesday, thinking that no one will be here. I was wrong, but only had to wait 40 mins. The number does go pretty fast and the workers are pretty pleasant, not too friendly, just straightforward. Second time came back on a Friday around 12:30pm, thinking it shouldn't take long since people will most likely go early in the morning. I was wrong again :-( however, once it's my turn, it takes about 10 mins to change my name. Anyway, the facility is clean and the building for SS card is separated from the other services. Make sure you park on the building with Card sign. I like the self check-in and how they keep us informed while waiting. I guess I can't get away from waiting. That's just life. Fyi, the number goes from B1 to B139 and it will starts over. I know, random right (why 139?). I got B01 and they were calling B99 when I got there. Thinking I was next until B105 was called. There is no reason it should take 2 1/2 plus hours of waiting for what ended up being a less than 5 minute engagement to change my last name. What a waste of my work day. The security officers seem rather rude and you can't use your phone while waiting (you can stare at the blank walls or other angry patrons - fun fun!) Also, I waited over an hour before I was called to a booth and told that I checked in using the wrong reason, so they had to switch the waiting list that I was on. They said there was a sign by the check in kiosk, which indicated what I needed to press. Why don't they just inform me better on the computer and so many people wouldn't have this issue? The 3 stars is for the nice desk officers. They all seem very knowledgeable and professional. read more

Omg! Has to be the worst experience ever! From 10am to 3pm. This was my first visit to this office and it will definitely be my last! I can not believe how unbothered these employees are In regards to your time. On top of a whole day being flushed down the drain they were not efficient. Please beware of this place! read more

Looks clean/nice Went in just before 1pm - waited about 45minutes to be called which is good/better than expected read more

An extremely clean and well organized location! The doors open at 9, but I arrived at 8:15 to stand in line. The security guard walked out around 8:35 and announced which line you should stand in, which directed me to another side of the building. They opened the doors about 10 minutes to early to make sure everyone had the correct forms. There are about 8 or 10 windows that handle new/corrected SS cards, so they immediately seated the first 8 or 10 customers. I was in the first group, and it took me a total of 5 minutes to complete my process with the SS representative. Everyone was very professional and polite. I've read reviews about the security guard not being polite, but I disagree and found him very helpful and serious about his job... if it wasn't for him, everyone would be running around in a panic. He kept everyone focused (and off their phones!). read more

SHOW UP BEFORE IT OPENS! If you want it to be a quick and easy process show up an hour and half before it opens, so you're the first one in line and you won't have to take off a full day of work! The people here try their best to be very quick and speedy and their very friendly, just come with all your stuff prepared and ready to go so it can be as quick as possible! read more

Slow as molasses. Came in on a Tuesday 10:30 am, waited three hours and still had to go back with a marriage certificate because of a mistake THEY made many many years ago. Pack a lunch AND a sleeping bag! They need about 40 more employees. read more

How do one set an appointment and still have to wait over 2 hours to be seen? What's the point of setting an appointment then? I'm so confused. They need to have a system where the person's name is scrolled on screen just in case they couldn't hear it. This is some BS. One is better off coming in early instead of having an appointment! Geez, I'm fed up!! I hate coming to any government offices because you waste your whole day waiting!! read more

I want to acknowledge the timely fashion I was seen. I arrived at 9:00 am I was called within 20 minutes and the excellent, professional and proficient assistance I received was very much appreciated.. I was seen by Ms. Maggie Torres and she was very helpful. I had applied for SSI and SSI Disibility and received a notice that they needed more information. Ms. Torres was very helpful explaining what was needed. When you are not familiar with the system, it is such a pleasure to work with someone who will take the time to truly help you out, not just rush you through like you are just a number. We always hear the negative things, but we rarely hear about the good things we do and how appreciated we are. I just want to thank Ms. Torres for all her help. Pat T. read more

The building opens at 9am. I was applying for an original SS card. I arrived at 9:05 and was guided to the card replacement/request side of the building, you will do a self check-in (#2) and they will call you promptly, you give the person at the window your application (I suggest filing out online), and your form of ID. Than they ask you to sit down and wait for your name to be called. The prompter calls your name and tells you to go to a window. There you give them your application, form of ID, and supporting paperwork. You will be asked a couple of questions, and BAM, you are given a paper asking if mailing is correct and a notice saying that you have applied for a SSN, and you should receive it within 2 weeks. I asked if I could request the # sooner, she said to come back on MONDAY, today is THURSDAY. So give or take 3 business days, and they can tell you your #, but it must be in person. I was out by 9:45. The lines move pretty quickly, or maybe in my experience because I arrived early. GREAT Customer Service. Very Friendly, and do not make you feel uncomfortable. read more

Went to do a name change after getting married. Got there around 11:45 am on a Tuesday... Walked in through the main doors, then directed to the other side of the building specifically for anything that has to do with the SS card. Walked up to a kiosk and signed in. Waited not even 15 min.s and my number was called. Over all, very quick process and the guy filling in my papers was quick and courteous. read more

For a Social Security office, this place was pretty pleasant. For Social Security cards, go to the right side of the building (the front entrance is for everything else). You sign in & get a ticket on a touch-screen that's there right when you walk in, on the right (make sure you've filled in an application!-- online), grab your ticket, & wait. I went in for a name-change. I got there at about 10:45am on a Thursday, & my number was called only (yes, only) an hour later. I was expecting a much longer wait. They were on I think B7 when I arrived & I was B35. There were about 6 or 7 windows open. Then it only took 2-3 minutes with the person at the window & then I was out. I wish I had done this much earlier 'cause I had been putting this off, fearing the long wait & stressful process, but this was neither. read more

I got here about 10 minutes before the office opened & there was already a line forming outside. Like others said, their check-in system is efficient so I didn't have to wait long at all (about 10-15 minutes). The clerk I spoke with was very helpful & friendly. I wasn't able to complete my errand here but I will definitely be back when I have all the necessary paperwork. *Update 9/25/2014* Returned to this SSA on a Tuesday at 11am to get a replacement card. I thought it would be less of a wait based on my 1st experience but it took about 45 minutes when it was all said & done. Less than an hour wait is still pretty awesome in my book! Note: be sure you get in the right line because one entrance is to get a SS card & I believe the other entrance is for SS benefits. read more

As far as public/government buildings go this was very clean and very nice. They have quite a few windows to help people with SS issues but that doesn't mean you're not going to wait. I waited to be helped about 1 hour from the time I checked in until the time I was seen. Not a bad turn around time considering it was packed. They have a pretty nice waiting area so its not too bad an experience. Lots of parking and fairly conveniently located in the Houston Area. read more

Came in for a name change. Upon entrance the officer at the entrance was extremely friendly and helpful. I came at about 11:00 am on a Wednesday. It wasn't very crowded but probably at least 20/30 people. I was out by 11:15. Everyone was extremely helpful and efficient! read more

It's a nightmare. We were not able to get our SSN which has been applied for couple months. And we still haven't got it. The irresponsibility of this agent has totally ruined our life - we can not get a credit card, no work permit, no driving license, all because of this terrible terrible agent. It was such a terrible 4 months. We called the office almost every two weeks and even visited this agent in person but still no result. After many voice mails, this agent gave us a call back once and all she said was "hello hello and sorry I could not hear you " and hang up - she never really wanted to talk. No matter how many times we call back, no one answered. We don't know what we can do and we are surprised by quality of the service. It feels like a dead end and We still can't believe that we cannot do anything about this. And we don't believe this is America. Shamed. Anyway, please avoid this agent, or you may be the next victim for waiting a year or forever not getting your SSN!! read more

Wow!!! I'm out in 24 mins for a new card with name change!! They have it set up to where there is a benefits door and a 'card' door for new cards. They start calling numbers immediately at 9 am. I was here at 0830am. The security officer let us in 12 minutes early (that was really nice because we were all sweating so the AC room felt great!). The attendant at the window, once my number was called, was not overly friendly, but she meant business and was efficient. I was dreading this, but it was a totally different experience from what I expected!!! read more

We spent over three hours the first day without being seen. Returned next day 30 minutes before opening. Waited nearly 2 hours before going to an agent and asking for our status. She was friendly, positive and proactive in making sure we were getting everything required. I applaud and appreciate Ms Carabello for staying after hours to serve us. . read more
