I really am a big fan, maybe the biggest fan of libraries. As I type this, I believe that it is time to renew my card. I hope I get a nicely designed-card this time. There are so very many perks to having a library card and I want everyone to have one. I love books, reading, writing, learning, words, and all of that so it is obvious that I am biased. However, on the flip side of that accessibility is really important to me in all facets of life. Speaking of accessibility, when I think of books I think of accessibility. We deserve knowledge and information that is free. Don't get me started yall, too bad I have already started. Libraries give us access to knowledge, education, and community and to me that is freedom. "HAVIN FUN AINT HARD WHEN YOU HAVE A LIBRARY CARD" is a remixed version of that saying, and I am not yelling with the caps, I am passionate. Having a library card, in my opinion, is top-tier. Elite, if you will. I frequent this particular library in Cinco Ranch due to the proximity, helpful staff, and resources available. I spent a lot of my waking hours here during grad school and I miss that. These days, I pop in to pick up my holds, browse the shelves quickly, and dip. Get a library card if you don't have one. Yes, it's free. Bring in some mail that verifies your address. My dream job is in a library, although I do not dream of labor. First time comer here! The building looks nice and historical! The upstairs is very quiet and great for study! :) It's freezing cold for great focus so it's better to being a jacket or warmer clothings! This is one of our favorite libraries! It's in a convenient area and there is tons of parking! My kids love the story times that the librarians put on! There is a toddler friendly area where they can play as well! Our favorite part is the pond with the ducks in the back! We will continue to come here! read more

I have been coming here to prepare for an important test for about 2 months now, and can say with confidence: this is not a good place to study if you need silence. You can hear EVERYTHING that is happening downstairs, most of the library clerks don't even try to speak in a low volume and give a good example. It baffles me to see some people acting like they are in their living rooms, taking phone calls or caring an informal conversation in the study area upstairs. I wish libraries these days where built in a way that facilitate studying. And if this is still not enough for you, they leave the air conditioning so cold, some of us have to bundle up big time. When I asked one of the clerks about the AC, she had the nerve to tell me it's because they have to turn it down because of constant door opening on the first floor and the COLD AIR RISES.... yeah you read it right, she said it rises it is currently 61 degrees outside, so no hot air is coming in....‍ Unfortunately for me I have nowhere else to go, my kids are loud, Starbucks and Panera have loud music playing. But if you have another option, stay away from this place! read more

Best library on this side of town. Massive two story with plenty of places to relax and read or study. Great kids section. They also host several events weekly for children and adults. I was even able to vote in the last election on-site. Both upstairs and downstairs have work areas with tables and chairs. Library employees are very friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and help with a variety of needs and requests. This place seems to be managed well and runs smoothly. There is a lake in the back with a walking path. There are dozens of ducks and turtles always swimming around. There is even a nice bench in the back with a bronze statue of Mark Twain reading. read more

Quite a nice environment for a library. Don't feel like I'm stuck in a cave. Nice area to sit upstairs overlooking the pond by La Centerra which adjoins the library. Was nice to be able to pick up a cup of coffee, and if you say the magic phrase, they'll even let you bring it in. The phrase is: "My coffee cup has a cap." If you're in the area and don't want to be stuck in Starbux, this library is a nice alternative. read more

This library is great when you need to get some serious studying done or have a quiet meeting session. Walk up the stairs and at the librarian desk, give them your driver's license to check out a study room. They will give you a key to the room and it's guaranteed to be all yours for 2 hours. First come, first served. Inside the room, you will find a climate controlled, well-lit, almost sound proof room. It comes equipped with a table for 4 people and 4 chairs. A large window overlooks the computer and librarian desk area. No food or drink allowed. Come here when you need a quiet spot to work, but leave that latte in the car. read more

This library is a nice place to get some work done. The wifi is free and fast enough to stream videos. The tables and desks have multiple power outlets. The second floor study area is silent and has a wall of windows that overlook a little lake. My only bias, a personal preference, is that I like to have my caffeine when I'm working on something and there are no beverages allowed. I haven't used their other services so I can't say much of them. There's tons of parking but the intersection can get busy when the high school (across the street) gets out. read more

I just went to this library for the first time on Saturday and was really impressed! They have tons of space and work stations and have Study rooms that can be reserved for 2 hours. I will definitely be back and will continue to sing it's praises! read more

This is a very neat and organized little library with plenty of computers to do research...The children section is small, but pretty nice with items to entertain young kids that can't yet read...The area where this library sit is simply awesome...with a lot of restaurants to eat after your study for that big test. read more

came for toddler time on Wednesday at 1015 for the first time last week and was shocked to see how many parents and their kids attend. so if you do want to try this you do have to come early or on time because it does fill up and they close the door once they hit the maximum amount of people. it was structured and my 2.5 year old son did enjoy it. at the end they do provide a simple craft activity which he loved. didn't know but the little ones were snacking and drinking, so you can pack some snacks as they read, sing, do rhymes and activities. read more

A nice large library in a nice area conveniently located by La Centerra, lakes, walking paths, medical plaza, schools, and other amenities. Nice children's area with several different divided sections making it easy to find materials for your child depending on age and reading preference. It has several game and filtered internet computers and a reference desk that specializes with youth related questions. Not much seating and can be loud if you are trying to study. The other side of the library hosts a small teen section and adult fiction. This area has a few more tables for group study and two carols for individual study. There is a teen computer section with a few computers generally except after school and on Saturdays. The second floor contains the adult non fiction, numerous study tables, study rooms, large computer lab, and a small meeting room. The study rooms are first come first serve and can have a wait on the weekend and after school due to the large number of tutors that use the library. This library has a large selection of youth programs for all ages at various times. It is performed by very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always willing to give book suggestions and tips for early literacy. read more

The atmosphere is so calming, the surrounding area is gorgeous. They have a variety of books and they have an upstairs and downstairs. Their staff are so nice and respectful and it is overall a great place. Studying there is so calming and the staff helps you out find books and there are even computers to help you find them. It is a great library and I recommend this to anyone. You can go there to get books for essays, to get enticing books for enjoyment, and to study in a relaxing environment and more! I'm not too picky about library's because hey all you have to do is either study or check out some books but this one was a whole different story. The librarians are extremely rude, they don't know how to talk to people or anything they have a look as if there doing us a favor when we want to check out a book. I went to make a library card for my child and they argued with me that I have to be 21 to get a card which I am. If i don't look like I'm 21 doesn't mean I'm not, and it says on my licence that I'm over 21 as well. They should hire people who are descent and know how to read. read more

Love studying at this library and the view upstairs is so nice and peaceful. My issue is the staff! Everytime I want to check out a book they tell me I owe money for a book I never got!! I payed the fine so i can check out a book and when I went yesterday they told me I have to owe more money!! The lady didnt even know why! Im not saying all the staff is rude but most of them have a bad attitude and they don't know how to help you. This happens every time I go and ask for help. read more

I love this library. It's a pretty big compared to other surrounding libraries. The environment is quiet and conducive for this looking for a study spot. The have many study desks and private rooms as well. If you have kids there's always cool events going on downstairs also. Only con: I wish they had better hours. They open 10-5. I just feel those hours are too short. read more

When I went to high school, this was the go to spot for my friends and I to study. There was a great selection of childrens books for my little sisters and the study rooms were great for some after school club meetings. If we were ever hungry, we would just walk across the street to la centerra to grab a bite. Good location, quiet depending where you are in the library,and overall good experience whenever I go. It can get a bit crowded at times, but that just shows how popular it is with the community. read more

This is a public place for people to get free educational resources. The location is great and the place has several books for people of all ages. However the people that work there are extremely rude. I rarely get good customer service from these workers but i come here now and then for my baby. Today I was carrying my tearful son and had a bagful of books. I was waiting for a good 7 minutes before anyone had helped me. Finally this rude worker said take the books out of the bag. I asked her if she could please help since my hands are full. She then said,"nope sorry. Library policy. We can't help you take books out of the bag." So while struggling she was just playing with her nails and chewing gum. I've been here many times and this is the first time that a worker chose not to help out. Update It seems like the following issues were addressed. Staff was a lot more friendlier and extremely helpful in terms with parents having the hands full with books. The people actually assisted me through everything and I have a much better view on this library now. Thank you so much. read more

Pretty nice library near La Centerra in the Cinco Ranch area of Katy. As others have pointed out, there is free wifi, but there are also small conference/meeting rooms that can be used with projectors. One of my local meetup groups came here recently for a presentation and I would have to say it was very nice! read more

Love coming here to study and look out at the big windows over looking a lake. I don't live around this area anymore, but since there isn't a B&N in Katy.... this will be my next alternative when on this side of the town. read more

This library feels like a library that time forgot. Out-dated but good enough to drop in for a book never to stay. I've been to some really nice libraries that were innovative and allowed for a myriad of activities not this one. If you live in the area, this library is a very nice place to bring your kids or stop in for a book. It's a huge library with plenty of parking, but come early because it gets crowded. If you're having a meeting, there's a large meeting room that holds over 100 people. It comes ready with a dry erase board and projector. There's always some activities for kids on the weekends to keep learning fun. Great place for kids to come and step away from the video games for a while. The location of the library is good as it sits by itself, but the shopping center gets pretty crowded and congested during peak hours, especially during holiday shopping. Again, get an early start. I visited the library for a club meeting, and liked the cleanliness of it. The temperature in the meeting room was comfortable and the restrooms were always clean. I'll probably visit this library very soon in the near future. read more

This is a great little library conveniently located in the heart of Cinco Ranch across from La Centerra and Cinco Ranch High School. There are always tons of children flooding in here for story time and at around 1, the High School students start arriving; it's nice to see that they go straight to the library and not home to their x-boxes and facebook ; ) Everyone is very respectful here; the library has a spacious downstairs area with big tables in the center for studying and upstairs is the quiet areas with some cubicles and more desks. I usually find it pretty crowded after school gets out, which is fine, but I like to spread my work out when I'm studying so I try to go at times when the students are still in school. I tried going on a weekend but those hard-working students are still at it, studying away, which I admire of course. The upstairs area has big windows overlooking the small lake behind it and is a great place to get all your work done without the temptation of your tv, the fridge, or your cell phone! read more
