First, my wife grew up in Dearborn, and is, thus, well acquainted with Detroit pizza. So, when we were in town on Friday - living about 30 miles north - we decided to try out the Corktown Pizza restaurant. It was our first visit, but it will definitely NOT be our last. In fact, Corktown Pizza is now our go-to local restaurant for pizza. Now, to the promised review. There is not a whole lot to say about the ambiance. The restaurant has a somewhat spartan aura to it which we really enjoyed. We were able to concentrate and focus on our meal, and not on the room. The BEST part of the ambience was that the dining area was relatively quiet, allowing us to enjoy our meal and talk to each other without being overwhelmed by noise, which is the total opposite of Buffalo Wild Wings which shares the building, where you have to yell to be heard by the people sitting at your table. Now as to the food. The pizza was ABSOLUTELY the BEST pizza that I have EVER had - and I am 75 years of age, and have always enjoyed pizza. I might have had a pizza at some point that was as good as the Corktown Pizza, but I have DEFINITELY NEVER had a pizza that was better. They have several types of pizza on the menu - thick crust, thin crust, Detroit style, etc. I got the Detroit pizza and my wife got the thick crust, and both were equally good.
