    All the food we ordered

All of the food was delicious. The restaurant was quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly. Our waitress came to check in on us every 5-10 minutes it seemed like. She served my mother coffee a few times. They also had highchairs for customers with small children. I used one for my 1 year old. He enjoyed it. It seemed to be a little old and dirty but it was clean enough for him to sit in it. The service was fast, we didn't wait for our food that long. This place is great for family. We will definitely be going back.

It came with a very tasty and fairly large salad. The chicken breast was too heavily breaded and the coating was hard The chicken inside all that breading was tender and hot There was just a little bit of cheese on top of that heavy breading. If there was Parmesan, I did not taste it, but the waitress did bring a little container with Parmesan and hot pepper flakes Accompanying the chicken was spaghetti noodles with almost tasteless. Spaghetti sauce. On the side of the plate was a piece of garlic bread, but by the time I got to it, it had soaked up the watery juice from the spaghetti sauce, and it was inedible. Sometimes I may be a little too picky but anytime you go out now is at least $25 per person and I just think they could do better on this Parmesan chicken. The service was excellent however our iced teas were filled up twice each, and the ambience is nice and relaxing after a day of shopping and appointments. The restaurant was clean and really nothing I can complain about. It's just this particular dish as it was not one of my preferences.

Southwoods Family Restaurant - I ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. These are the best ones in town. And the marinara sauce is delicious. It comes with 6 sticks.

Oh how I wish this place would have been better. It's a…read morecute place and our server did a great job overall. Those are the highlights. My friend ordered the kabob dinner and said it was good...but over $20 for some veggies is crazy. My gyro and truffle fries....honestly I should have just sent them back. This is one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. They put a tomato paste on it that I almost requested without, but trusted it would be interesting. It literally tasted like cheap canned tomato paste. Gross and certainly doesn't blend well on a gyro. The lamb meat itself had a decent taste, but the way it is served makes it difficult to eat in a pita. Gyros are typically chopped or shaved lamb which makes it easier to eat and helps ensure you're getting more lamb per bite. Served in these strips, it was just falling apart and not blending with the feta. The fries...terrible. Just terrible. $6 to sub truffle fries which seems like too much but I hadn't had them in a long time so had to go for it. Listed in subs it simply says truffle fries, so I didn't know they were going to be covered in liquid cheese. They ARE listed in appetizers with the full description but I didn't look there until after bc I didn't order an appetizer. The cheese was awful, completely overwhelmed the TINY bit of truffle taste, and SO salty! Take a look at the picture and decide for yourself if the gyro and fries is worth $23. I eat a lot of gyros, and this being the most expensive one I've had is the worst. Heads up that they charge a service fee. Doesn't bother me as I always tip at least 20% but no one pointed that out and I'm not really sure what it's for. Does that go into the servers pocket or? Won't be going back to find out.

Their bar area is huge and they have quite the extensive food menu as well, while everything smelled delicious, we opted not to eat there and just grab drinks. I'd love to come back and grab food here another time!

Don't even ask. So... 3 out of 5 ain't bad, right? (It is.) Got our apps eventually--without silverware, napkins, or even a "sorry." I guess finger food just means literally use your fingers. Meanwhile, a poor couple sat down near us at 6:15 and were told they couldn't place a food order until 6:50 because the takeout screen was full. What kind of nonsense is that? Dine-in guests told to wait for takeout to clear? Make it make sense. Honestly, the staff looked like they were in survival mode. This location is clearly understaffed, overwhelmed, and about one chicken wing away from total collapse. The prompt for giving a review on Yelp suggests considering ambiance, service, and food. I shall…read moredo so in reverse order. First, my wife grew up in Dearborn, and is, thus, well acquainted with Detroit pizza. So, when we were in town on Friday - living about 30 miles north - we decided to try out the Corktown Pizza restaurant. It was our first visit, but it will definitely NOT be our last. In fact, Corktown Pizza is now our go-to local restaurant for pizza. Now, to the promised review. There is not a whole lot to say about the ambiance. The restaurant has a somewhat spartan aura to it which we really enjoyed. We were able to concentrate and focus on our meal, and not on the room. The BEST part of the ambience was that the dining area was relatively quiet, allowing us to enjoy our meal and talk to each other without being overwhelmed by noise, which is the total opposite of Buffalo Wild Wings which shares the building, where you have to yell to be heard by the people sitting at your table. Now as to the food. The pizza was ABSOLUTELY the BEST pizza that I have EVER had - and I am 75 years of age, and have always enjoyed pizza. I might have had a pizza at some point that was as good as the Corktown Pizza, but I have DEFINITELY NEVER had a pizza that was better. They have several types of pizza on the menu - thick crust, thin crust, Detroit style, etc. I got the Detroit pizza and my wife got the thick crust, and both were equally good. The prices and good, and the quantity was great. I had to take half of my four slice pizza home for dinner the next day - and it was still wonderful the following night! Now, as to the service. I was really impressed with our server, Kevin, who was actually able to cover the whole room - and did a fantastic job of it. He was very attentive to our needs without being intrusive, giving us a chance to enjoy the food and our conversation. As in the movie "We Are Spinal Tap", I would like to give Kevin an "11" on a scale of "10"! I never got to meet or be introduced to Paul, the Cook/Chef, but based on the food he prepared, I would like to give him an "11" as well! We will be back, and so should you!
