Do you have any relatives who think of Bob Evans when you say, hey let's go out somewhere nice? Well, this is a nice Bob Evans. We had a nice Bob Evans type breakfast. I do like their biscuits and sausage. Most of their breakfast choices are more of LDL than I'm supposed to have in a month but everything was fresh and served up cheerfully and promptly. Waitstaff was attentive and the coffee hot, black and bitter, like my heart. Plenty of parking, though about a third of their customers can't really see those white lines.

My elderly parents love this place but I'm NOT a fan.... I've tried multiple items - none of which have been good (from breakfast to dinner and almost everything in between) - but this last one takes the cake... I ordered the 'Steakhouse Burger' described as '100% black Angus beef topped with center-cut hardwood-smoke bacon, grilled mushrooms and caramelized onions, real provolone cheese and A.1.® Original Sauce.' The picture of the burger online looks thick and juicy with cheese oozing down the side...hardly what I got! I'm not even sure what I got was beef...certainly not 100% Angus... It was a pressed, processed, overcooked flat orb... (see photos) Parents meals were so so...one was a little dried out, other came with fruit that wasn't completely ripe (cantaloupe). I would not recommend this place... Oh - and doing pick up used to be super easy, they had a shelf off to left, you could race in and grab your order. But now they have it BEHIND their registers - so you have to stand there waiting for them to stop ignoring you... Another negative in my opinion!

The damage... Sorry to the bus person.

Had a terrific Sunday brunch after a weekend in Grand Rapids. Our server, Devin, was amazing. Quick to our needs, helpful with our choices, and attentive throughout our meal. He was friendly at each interaction. The food was good. We all left with full bellies and a smile.

There isn't a Bob Evans in greater Chicagoland, so Mom picked this as a breakfast spot prior to leaving Grand Rapids. We were greeted and seated immediately. Service in general was pleasant and attentive. I had the Farmer's Choice Breakfast. It was A-OK: plentiful, good bacon, hashbrowns and eggs cooked well. There are cute knicknacks (including Bob Evans gear) and goodies for sale by the registers if you're so inclined. In all, Bob Evans was a more solid choice than I had anticipated given other reviews. I could see us going back if we were in the area again.

My husband has a severe egg allergy, and when we informed our server, he stated that he did not know how to accommodate it. I was surprised, as egg allergies are fairly common. He even joked that he only knew about gluten. He eventually checked on one menu item and returned to tell us it contained egg, but offered no alternative suggestions or guidance. He then said he was too busy and would have someone else assist us. When another staff member came to the table, it was clear she had not been informed of the situation, as she asked how she could help and was equally unsure how to accommodate the allergy. As a result, my husband was unable to eat at all while the rest of us had dinner. It was very disappointing and concerning that such a significant allergy was not taken seriously by multiple staff members. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with food allergies. Despite appearing to be an upscale establishment, the lack of knowledge, communication, and willingness to verify ingredients made it clear that we were not a priority. We were left with the impression that they were simply too busy to handle allergy concerns safely.

Our room was small and cozy and we had the room to ourselves until the restaurant got busy. We both ordered the 8 oz sirloin with the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Steak was tasty and grilled to order. The potatoes were chunky, rustic and garlicky. I ended up eating all of them against my better judgement. They were so good. Only downside was a pesky fly that would not go away and kept landing on our food. But not really the restaurant's fault!

I ended up ordering the Roadhouse Burger ($15). This is a 1/2lb black angus burger with chopped bacon, sautéed bourbon onions, haystack onions, garlic herb cheese spread and BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun. The Burger was okay. I really liked all the toppings. My 2 issues were the burger wasn't very juicy, plus meat quality was also only okay. The other was the bun was a little dry, maybe stale. I've had so many better burgers, it wasn't technically bad, just very ehhh. I also upgraded to asparagus ($2.5) as my side. They were cooked properly and tasted very good. A sauce or something would take them to another level. The person I was with ordered the Cajun Bleu Cheese Burger ($15). This is a Cajun seasoned 1/2lb black angus burger served with bacon, mushrooms, and crumbled bleu cheese served on a Kaiser roll. This person actually really enjoyed her Burger. Hers was cooked medium rare while mine was medium, plus different buns, so maybe that made a difference. They were short staffed with only one waitress covering. So she was a little frazzled. However she did a good job and was still friendly in the process. The other issue with this business I had was their website and actual are not the same. The websites menu states on Saturday it's brunch till 3pm them dinner menu at 3pm. We cane at 3pm, because I wanted the pot roast. Nope we are told it's Lunch menu only. If I had known that I probably wouldn't have come here Overall I'll give a 3 star review. It's not a bad place, just not anywhere near my favorite. Would I return? Probably not. If someone else really wanted to go here, then yes otherwise I don't see myself returning.
