Food was pretty good. Asked for turkey sausage substitute in omelet was told no problem. Had one cup of coffee. When bill came I was charged for 2 cups of coffee and 2 side orders of chicken sausage. Had I known that I would have passed on the 6 dollar 2 chicken sausage links I didn't really care for. When I told them about it they said oops and took the coffee off and then said you ate chicken sausage you get charged for an additional 2 servings. Food gets a B- from me service gets a D-

Pathetic chicken salad plate. If you look closely you can see the tiny scoop of chicken salad.

Very slow waitstaff so my family switched our order from dine-in to carry out. It didn't speed anything up because we ended up waiting another 15 minutes. While waiting for our carry out I finally asked for an order status just to find out that our meal had been sitting behind the counter for a while.

Burnt Toast.

Stellar breakfast on a random Friday am. When they say…read moreWAIT! At the hostess stand they mean it- they will be out to grab you as soon as they clean up other tables- most likely for you. It's open, there is a bar to your right as you enter and lots of seating to your right and front. Can eat at bar. We sat, mimosas and bloodies available. Or for that matter- whatever you can think of. They have scotch eggs swimming in a bowl of gravy... yes gravy... and it was delicious. Definitely a Mexican "flair" with lots of black beans, sauces, etc. I stuck with a Belt sandwich - nice and crispy bread with bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato. Friendly service and lots of value! Glad we found this spot since we are headed to Ohio a few times a year.

We did not have a good experience this time. Our bartender Shanna was less than enthusiastic about serving us. She had an attitude & was yawning Alot! We ordered margaritas, which were good as always. Then we ordered our dinner. i ordered the perch dinner W fries & coleslaw. The perch was good, the fries were way overdone & coleslaw bland. My friend ordered prime rib medium rare. The rib was served Medium to Medium well. Shanna took it away & brought a Médium rare one, which was much better. I almost forgot about the Horrible house salads she served us. She returned them & brought us the Cole slaw & Augratin potatoes. The mistakes were corrected, but totally changed our view of the Dark Horse. I hope improvements will be made!

This one is good for its price point (around $100/nt for my stay). I'm tempted to "meehhhhhhh" it…read morebut I won't, I'm going to compare it to others in its class. I've also stayed in the TownPlace Suites in Findlay, the sister Marriott budget that's actually got suites. This location has hotel rooms. My mini fridge is the mini-est you can get without being a 6 pack electric cooler; barely fits a standard styrofoam takeout box. This isn't an impressive location for a Fairfield, nor is it a good location. It's on the corner of a busy 5-lane highway, next to the Kroger/Walmart and surrounded by a Honda dealership. The visual clutter and distraction of the dealership decor (big, tall tinsel at the time of my visit) made it visually challenging to figure out the parking lot entry on the first approach. Getting back out to the main highway is challenging, not super straightforward; either (1) you take a left out of parking and contend with Kroger patrons (both turning in and turning out) in your attempt to turn left onto the artery street less 100 yards from the traffic light, or (2) to turn right onto the main highway you go right out of parking into what feels like an alley, behind some buildings, and try to remember to turn just after the building instead of going too far and getting trapped in that parking lot. Neither option is a good one. The run-on sentence was making a point, and it was worth it. Inside: similar to the local TownPlace, not super inviting. There's no pull through entrance. You'll need to park in a space and walk in. It's rather dark inside, an effect of both the lack of lighting and a dark blue camo looking carpet. If poor lighting is a problem for you it's probably worth looking at another hotel (I don't recall the TownPlace being dark, but it's been a couple months). The room is basic and functional. There's an iron, full size ironing board, hair dryer. Little modular closet is fine for a week. There is a standalone 2-drawer bench that can - and should - double as a luggage rack since there's not one in the room. The bed is foam and soft, so check other places for spring mattresses if you need something firm. I use a super slim pillow and one of the 4 on my king bed was suitable. They are all 4 different so there should be something for everyone. Already mentioned the fridge is the teeniest size. Microwave is comparably small. Coffee machine is tiny with lots of single use plastic trash involved, so if you actually drink coffee maybe head downstairs or to a coffee shop instead (there's a breakfast/brunch place in the building just east of Fairfield, about 50 steps away, opens at 7).

This is a very well run hotel in a great location in Findlay. Walking distance to several…read morerestaurants and stores. Easy to locate at a major intersection. The building is older, but was recently completely remodeled and looks great. The rooms are nicely done and very clean. They are also very quiet, thanks to the obvious solid construction years ago. The sink area is a bit small, but that's a minor thing. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was great and the dining room nicely done. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay if you're in the area.
