We were sat in under two minutes, and had our food in less than 10. This place runs like a well-oiled machine. Some of the waitresses here had to be at least 60 to 70 years old, and it looked like they came with the building. I'm not saying that as a bad thing. Is it really a good diner if at least one of the waitress's hands don't shake a little as she sits down your plate? The portions are enormous... The pancakes are the size of a plate. We watched the food come out and everything looks really good. Our waitress was fast and friendly, can't ask for anything better. It was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time.p

We ordered Herbie's Mess, Tater tot casserole, and #3 Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausage and toast). The Tater Tot casserole received rave reviews, the general breakfast was felt to be average. Herbie's Mess was good, but lacked seasoning. Once salt/pepper was added, It was greatly improved. If you're looking for a good place to eat, try Pilgrims. The food was old fashioned diner style. The eggs and potatoes are real. But the sausage was lacking quality

Locals praise this restaurant as a fine dining establishment of Tiffin. Well.... I hope this isn't…read morethe only one as they are SOL if this is it. The space is amazing. Great building, decor and vibe. What killed the vibe was the patrons at the bar with the 4 year old going WWE on his drunk uncle like it was a backyard BBQ and the seating. Flimsy wooden stool like chairs or a straight high back booth. The most comfy spot in the room was the piano bench in the middle of the room. Apparently the restaurant was expecting a HUGE crowd for the eclipse. There wasn't one to Tiffin. Their limited menu and $35 dinner buffet went to waste. The buffet had been sitting out for hours. Dried out potatoes, pasta, ribeye slices that were now overcooked and chewy. We opted for the menu but momentarily were flustered that the limited menu also said cash only. Smh. Since the crowd wasn't a factor, the cash only was waived. Thankfully. (Then discovered they raised the prices on the limited menu for the event) Wasn't concerning but annoying since the event fell flat. I ordered the scallops and my husband the burger. Burger was fine, cooked to temp. Good pickles, great house made ketchup and duper fresh French fries. So good we ordered a second serving. My scallops were a joke. Three tiny 1" scallops under a coating of lobster cream sauce, and frozen chopped spinach all in a bed of overcooked white rice with some wild rice mixed in. Let's start top down. The lobster cream sauce was gritty and starting to separate. The chopped spinach was oddly bright green, unseasoned and should not have been on the plate. The scallops were fine but small. I could not eat the rest. It was awful. I ate the scallops and let her take the rest of the plate and order a side fries to supplement. I wish I had ordered the mushroom flatbread instead. Burger was good. I had a normal glass of white wine. Nothing notable. My husband ordered an old fashioned. It was good. He ordered a second and it was totally different than the first. To finish, we ordered a crème brûlée. It came out, not on a plate but just put on the table in the cup with two spoons laid on the table. Smh. Idk what was going on. They brought out a side of fries on a plate and even the side of mayo, earlier. It was just odd. The space is beautiful. The service is spotty. Food is a hard miss or home run, therefore good luck if you try it.

The sauce was rich and flavorful, the chicken perfectly tender, and the pasta underneath tied everything together. You can tell they take real care in the kitchen here. The whole experience was great -- friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and a menu that feels upscale but totally approachable. I was very disappointed…read more Burger was overcooked and dry as the desert. The thin sliced tomato did not provide enough moisture to overcome the dry burger. Burger was not seasoned that I could tell. Bun was fresh, but not toasted. The lettuce was iceberg leaves; thankfully, not dreaded shredded/confetti lettuce. Onion rings were a tad overcooked and warm-ish, not hot. Thankfully, they were not greasy. Milkshakes are soft serve; I passed. Service was mixed. Burger came quickly, too quickly? Was it already cooked and kept in a warmer that dried it out? Dunno. Will I return? Nyet - I will drive south to exit 125 and visit Kewpee. Dining room and restroom are clean. Ample parking.

I'm a former restaurant manager and this restaurant is definitely mismanaged…read more My family's food sat on the counter, getting cold, while I waited 7 minutes for one order of onion rings. My main issue is the Manager was making burgers our entire time in the store. (30 minutes) That is not the job of a restaurant manager. She should be expediting. It's her job to run the store, not hiding in the burger line. If she didn't hide making food, she could help her employees maintain a high standard of service.

I mentioned I just wanted something to go, and they indicated I could take the buffet to go, or they could make any of the subs or pizza. I opted for the ham and cheese sub and a canned soda. While I waited I had some friendly chitchat with the gals behind the register and a local biker. The ambiance was a typical and friendly small town diner, with a number of apparent locals having lunch. Ten minutes later I had my food and went to the park. The sub was toasty warm with a goodly amount of ham, cheese and veggies on board. Good basic sub. Will have to try and return on another day and try some more of the menu!
