My entire family came from out of town and we met at the Bob Evans restaurant at Fairview Heights, IL. We had 9 people in our party and waited about 30 minutes to get our tables. Once seated our waitress, Porsha was Wonderful. Took all of our orders. First we all received our drinks with included pots of coffee. We all ordered our breakfast meals. Everything was Delicious! It was my birthday, so this other lady came over to our table and sang happy birthday to me !!! Very Nicely! I was offered a free dessert to take home. I chose the cheesecake. Our table was situated at the back of the restaurant where we could easily speak to each other and be heard. A very lovely time to spend with family. I have been going to Bob Evans since I was a kid and there is a reason to keep returning, great food! I love that Bob Evan is close to my home and there is so much consistency when I visit. Every time I visit Bob Evan's, I am promptly seated and my amazing service begins with my drink order. There's something fun about drinking out of a mason jar. I got the blueberry banana oatmeal and I found it to be very good and sweet! It came with banana bread and 4 toppings but I only used the brown sugar. the food tasted fresh to me as someone who doesn't really eat oatmeal. My mother got a breakfast platter she liked but she swapped her potatoes to hash browns because the potatoes were hard, she liked the hash browns though. Honestly, this is the second best breakfast place in the area. (FW is my fave, no shade to Bob) We've used to live in another city where the IHOP was the best place. When we came here, we had the misfortune of learning that not every location is the same. After trying a few places, we walked into Bob Evans and were so pleasantly surprised! It was clean! The staff was friendly! The booths weren't falling apart and the menus looked new and weren't sticky! As a bonus, the food was AWESOME. Placed a phone order for staff lunch- a little disorganized getting the order, however, food was great and it was hot. Got the holiday dinner- website said it feeds 6, I think it would feed way more than that- very generous portions. The pumpkin pie was delicious as was the cranberry sauce. Better than I was expecting. I was searching for something a bit different after church. The local place on IL 159 was outrageously packed, so we ended up here. The Sunshine Skillet was pretty good and the biscuits were to die for. The cold brew was tasty also. I got mine with just the cream, no added flavor. The service was okay. Day late and Forgot photos... Well, I hate to give a semi-negative review but I was pretty dissatisfied. The food was "okay". The service was "okay". I ordered the sunshine skillet and the cast iron it came in smelled like dirty dishwater. The waitress was sweet, but not very attentive. Twice I had to walk to the front to ask for things. The fruit was really good, and the cinnamon biscuits were great as well. At least twice a month, me and my best friend have breakfast on Saturday. We frequent Bob Evans in Fairview Heights, IL. Well... there was no breakfast to be had here. The young lady who waited on us a couple weekends ago obviously didn't want wait on us today. She literally walked passed me and then us to wait on ppl who were seated after us. It became more evident as everyone around us were waited on. We weren't even offered coffee or water. My BFF saw the young lady ask another server to wait on us. But after over 10 minutes of being ignored we decided to leave. Exiting we heard the waitress say "they said it took to long" we continued to exit. The young lady who obviously didn't want to wait on us was tipped very well the last time. That will NEVER happen again. Next time we go I will ask NOT to be seated in her section. read more

For our dine in experience we ordered The Farmers Choice and The Rise & Shine. Farmers choice includes sausage, pancakes, hash browns and eggs. Rise & Shine, bacon, eggs, biscuits and grits. I also ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream. Overall the food was good but not the best breakfast. I would definitely stay away from the hash browns ... They tasted like a dirty potato chopped up and cooked with no seasoning. Nothing was over the top, excellent. However, I was impressed by the hot chocolate. It didn't taste as if it was made with water. Which it was.. I asked. And it's free refills. Our sever Judy was nice and attentive. She was able to answer all the questions I had about the menu items. At the end of the day... Yeah I would come back to try lunch, dinner or even dessert. read more

We had Bob Evans cater our event yesterday. Dawn and her team did an outstanding job and I would like to commend them on the great service they provided! The food was ready for pick up when promised and I was able to get it back to the venue and set up in plenty of time before serving started. Everyone enjoyed the food and there were several people that had never tried Bob Evans that will now be going to the restaurant. There was plenty of everything needed to put on the dinner and I will definitely be using this service again in the future and will recommend it to other people for their events. read more

First, the good... or in this case, the "ok". That would be the food. My wife got the turkey dinner and I got the soup and salad. Our meals were decent if uninspiring. Note: The broccoli is supposed to be buttered, but tastes like it is simply steamed with no seasoning. Now the bad. And that would be the service. First our initial server forgot what drinks we wanted... and admittedly that's not a big deal. However, 20 minutes after ordering our meal we noticed couples who were seated after we made our order were receiving their meals. It seems our server lost our ticket. Flipping ridiculous. 2 grill cheese, fries and a drink meals for children at $20. Yeah never again. I've been staying at the adjacent hotel (Drury Inn) and every time we pass by this place is closed. Today we happened to catch it open and decided to try it because we missed the free breakfast at our hotel. The waitress that took our order told us they close early than the posted time most days because no one comes in. So I guess charging 10 bucks for bread and cheese makes up for not having frequent business. I'm not even moved to try anything else at those prices. We decided to try the restaurant again, since it had been several months since our last visit. We had hoped the service would improve, since last time was pretty lousy. We stood there for over 5 min, while a server made it a point to ignore us, until I called over and asked if we could be seated. She made us wait a few more minutes (until someone we discovered later was a manager told her to seat us) and then she found us a table. It was moderately busy, but there were plenty of servers and about ten empty tables. The woman who seated us, Sonja, turned out to be our server. We ordered our food, with coffee and cocoa. Forty minutes later, as we observed tables that came in after us get their food, we were sitting with empty coffee mugs, I got up and asked our server if she perhaps wanted me to go cook our food. She got nasty saying they were backed up, so she'll "get it when it's ready, okay?" I advised her it would be nice then, if we could have more coffee, since our mugs had been empty the past 30 min. She refilled the cups, as though it was a real hassle. Fifty minutes (yes, I looked at the clock) we received PART of our order. My son didn't receive his bacon nor fruit, nor any syrup for his pancakes. My husband did not get his biscuits. My order of cod didn't come at all. They were out of cod. Although the server was advised they were out, she never told me until everyone received their food, then tossed a menu at me. She asked if I wanted something else. I told her I didn't feel like waiting another 45 min for my order. She screwed up her face and rolled her eyes which really ticked me off. A different server overheard and saw what happened and said she'd asked a manager to stop by. Manager came over to apologize and comped the meal. Several minutes later, she had to remind Sonja to come check on us. I reminded the server to finish filling my son's and husband's order. She turned and stalked away. My husband was in the middle of asking her for catsup and more syrup for my daughter's pancakes, since the little cup was half-filled when we received it, when she walked away as he was still speaking. The bacon for hubby and son was finally delivered, but barely cooked. My husband told our son not to eat it, since it was obviously still mostly raw. Our water glasses went empty, no catsup was ever delivered for the hash browns nor more syrup and the server avoided us, despite eye contact. Another server brought the missing items while Sonja hung out up front. Each time she left, it was only after I saw the manager approach her and point out a table that needed attention. Horrible, horrible service. Avoid Sonja as your server, at all costs. I thought service here couldn't get worse, since our last visit 6 months ago. And then they hired her and they achieved new lows of lousy service. read more

I feel that chain restaurants get a bad reputation at times. I will admit that I prefer local owned family restaurants but Bob Evans always has good food on our visits. We usually go about 1 time per month and will continue to go for our work breakfast meetings. The food is quick and service is good at this location. I get the Ride and Shine on most visits. I believe that when you go to a chain restaurant that you have to understand/expect what you are going to get for food and service. read more
