You know you see this sign, and the logo just speaks breakfast. But I just feel they are missing something, everything out of the kitchen always taste like it just came out of the microwave. The server was very very nice and the place of course is becoming more like a cracker barrel country store than it is a restaurant but, it is a go-to if you need to get out of the car on a long trip. This restaurant is a joke! My husband and I waited over half an hour and still wasn't seated. Other customers were also getting very upset and leaving. You could see multiple empty tables that needed cleaned. The manager either wasn't working today or they are really bad at their job! I'm a big fan of Bob Evans, after going to college in Ohio; but now that I'm living on the East Coast I rarely get to visit one. My Husband & I visited the Defiance, Ohio Bob Evans in March, 2024. We found the atmosphere was very sleepy, almost bored. It was warm & clean on a cold, messy day, they absolutely get credit for a Clean place! The Sausage gravy seemed not as flavorful as in previous years, and the portions were not as impressive as they once were. Non-crispy hash browns, lackluster food overall, and while we had a Friendly and Capable waitress, she seemed to be busy doing other things when we needed her. Working, just not near our table. This is a similar experience to the one I had by myself in Feb of 2023, so I don't think I will continue to try Bob Evans. Used to love them, but not anymore. read more

Very slow service. Expect to wait even if they don't look busy . Took over 15 min just to get drinks after being seated. I'm guessing a staffing shortage is to blame. Took an hour from time we got seated till our food arrived. Half our table got food then 5-10 min later our other guest got their food ,Even though we all ordered together . One of our guests never got their food and was told they never put in his order. So the whole table was done eating before they brought out his food, that's Ridiculous! Met my brother halfway in between us, in Defiance, and had lunch at Bob Evans together. Food was typical menu. Trying to eat healthier, I had grilled chicken and two veggies. Broccoli, I only got two florets (not full spears, just the florets, and not large ones), but they seemed to give me a few extra baby carrots to maybe make up for it. Food quality was good and taste was as expected. Hostess seemed somewhat rushed and super busy, despite the place not being overly crowded or any wait/line - maybe she was doing extra duties. She was still friendly. Waitress was young and seemed somewhat inexperienced, but in today's staff shortage, it's understandable. She did fine despite seeming new. Overall, the restaurant was clean, well kept, food and service were decent - I wouldn't hesitate to go again. If Bob Evans is your thing, this is a decent one. read more

Anastasia rocked. My cup never got emptied. She had the meal out to us in a flash. The food was hot and fresh. Can't complain much when I'm stuffing my mouth full of biscuits and gravy and the before 11am only grits. Anastasia did not even look at me funny when I asked for syrup for them. The entire back room was empty by my family waited 25 minutes to be seated. Our server was nice but had more tables than she was able to keep up with. We are pretty forgiving In restaurants but my water went empty and wasn't refilled for a while until I asked. Then was never filled again. We were done eating and were waiting for our check and some jam for toast but our server never came back. The table next to us got drinks but the server never came back for their order and they were there for a while. They left. It turns out that the staff were all in a meeting in the back but management didn't consider having someone look after the front. The food was meh but I'm a bad person to ask about that because I think Bob Evans food is always bad- it was just the only place to eat as we traveled through the area. Well it started off as there were two parties in front of us to get seated. Waited and got seated. Funny thing is that there was 19 empty tables available. My wife counted them as she went to the bathroom during the wait. Dinning room was freezing to say the least. A person that looked to be a manager said he would check it. Temperature did not change. I saw three other people at different tables wearing jackets. Maybe that should give manager a clue it's cold inside. Funny I did not, nor did my bride have a jacket as it was 96 degrees outside on July 1st. Guess I should always carry one on case I go out to eat. Waitress did not do a good job at all at clearing plates or refills. Heard he mention to another table that she is too busy as her tables are all over the restaurant. We were heading to a family get away and decided to stop for breakfast...wish we hadn't. First off the wait. Only 20 minutes but the dining room was littered with empty tables. Either understaffed, mismanaged, or under worked (looked to me each server had 2, maybe 3 tables at a time. The staff issues must run into the kitchen as well. Food took longer that one would thing. The amount of food you get for the price is a joke. My daughter ordered kids lil' breakfast and they forgot the pancakes. Server only noticed when we said something. We were here with my step father and mother we had different meals mom had fried chicken she said it was really good The stepfather had country fried steak I had the turkey dinner. Honestly nobody had any complaints. There was some issues at our table that stop me from eating it wasn't due to the food or anything it was just due to argument with another family member. The waitress was really nice and comforting after they both got up to pay the bill I was sitting there packing up my food and I had kind of broke down a little bit and she was so super sweet and asked me if I wanted a prayer and I said yeah that would be great so we walked around the corner and said one and I definitely felt better after that I gave her a small hug and she had packed up all the food for me and I was so appreciative of what she was doing for me I wish I could remember her name but she was awesome. I really do appreciate her going above and beyond her actual work ethic and consulting me at a sad time and made me feel better. When ordering online make sure they give you right order. They have messed mine up three times this summer and gave it to wrong customer. Then the waiter lied and said I already picked it up. They didn't believe me until the people who got my order called and said they got the wrong order. Inside is even worse. Syrup on menus. Messy food serving. No silverware and have to tell them. I've gone into this restaurant before and they were a lot better than what they are now. I would NOT recommend wasting your time or money on trying to eat here. We waiting for almost an hour on our food and when it came out more than half of it was burnt and not to mention that is was cold! My girlfriend didn't even finish her meal and when we told the manager she gave us ONE dollar off of our meal. They really went down hill. Plenty of open tables when I first got there yet a long line of people waiting to be seated. After being seated, waited a long time before the waitress came to get our drink order. When she finally did take our drink order. She then took forever to bring them to us. Come to find out she took everyone in her sections drink orders and then got all of her tables drinks at the same time and brought them to each table. She then took our order and went to the computer, we assumed to put it in. About an hour later when we're wondering where our food is. She comes to the table to tell us that she didn't put our order in and also had thrown away our order ticket by mistake. We were not waiting another hour for our food so we offered to pay for our drinks and left. Literally the worst service I have ever had. Both the waitresses and the managers don't seem to care at all about their customers. I will never go there again. I'm now still hungry sitting across the street at Big Boy who has signs posted about "being patient because they are short staffed." The waitress came to our table for our drink order within 2 minutes of us being seated. Once she had our drink order, she was gone and what seemed like right back with our drinks and ready to take our food order. Will be coming to Big Boy from now on where their staff, though it may be little, actually cares about their customers. I am a huge Bob Evans fan but regret coming to this location EVERY TIME, and I never learn. Horrible service. Waiter's never bring refills. Food comes out COLD after it takes forever to come out. Used to be one could count on a good family type meal here, not anymore. They have done away with all the good homestyle meals.
