My husband grew up in NY so Bob Evans was a restaurant that they used to eat at. Now that we are all here for a family trip, it's a must have dinner at Bob Evans. We came in at 8. There was only one other table eating. We did double check if it was ok of we could stay for dinner since they close at 9. They said no problem and sat the 7 of us. Melinda took care of us tonight. She got our drinks started while we looked over the menu. I got the peach iced tea. Mannnnnnn was it good! It was perfectly sweet! And you can taste the tea and the peach. A total must have! We just came from Georgia and this tea was comparable to the sweet tea we had there. So yummy! Before dinner, Melinda dropped off a huge plate of rolls, biscuits and banana bread. We have been flying all day so we were happy that a whole bowl of bread was dropped off in front of us! I had a slice of the banana bread and it was so good! It was moist and flavorful. I added some butter on top, delicious! It took a lot out of me to only have 1 slice. I wanted to save room for dinner. I got the steak tips for dinner tonight. For my sides I got fresh fruit and buttered broccoli. As everyone's plates were coming out, I noticed how tasty they all looked. My husband's country fried steak looked good! My daughter's cheese was all nice and melty on top of her sunshine skillet. And then mine came out. I totally thought it was a joke. It looked like a hot mess. It looked like it was just thrown on the plate. I love my food charred but my food was completely burnt. Like my steak, onions and mushrooms were left on the grill, completely forgot about and then cooked when everyone's food was done being prepared. The steak and mushrooms were so burnt that you couldn't tell what you were eating. I know the chef had second thoughts on serving me that plate cause they were working on new steak tips without me saying anything. My second plate of steak tips was a lot better. The mushrooms and onions were sautéed nicely. And this time around the steak was edible. I appreciate that they remade my steak. But honestly, I wouldn't have served the first plate. My side of brocolli was decent. You don't get a lot of it. I did have a bite of my husband's mac and cheese, it's way better than the stuff they sell at the grocery store. I don't know if we will come back anytime during this visit but if we do I'm getting the mac and cheese. Overall, it was a decent dinner. It brought back fond memories for my family. Super helpful as we have someone severely autistic in our party. They also had no problem with us bringing our own birthday cake. Wait time was reasonable on this Saturday morning. The ambience and aesthetic: clean inside superficially, but the front windows and men's room were filthy. That should've told me. This was the worst food I've eaten in Buffalo and let me tell you it seems that Buffalo runs hot and cold when it comes to food either it's fantastic, or it's pure shit. I picked up a turkey dinner for my Mom because she had to work late today and we were not having Thanksgiving until the weekend, and I wanted her to have something to enjoy. They were so efficient and the staff was very friendly. The cash register staff were very helpful in looking amongst a sea of bags. I counted at least 17 to give us our meals, fresh and hot and they even tried to check and see if they had a chocolate peanut butter pie for me as that is my Mom's favourite . But unfortunately they did not take apple P and I had just left work myself, so I did not have a wallet on hand, but that is my fault, I'm not complaining there. So many takeout meals for Thanksgiving really gave me gratitude for all they were doing. I ordered them DoorDash pick up and they only had one meal available for dinner, which was the Thanksgiving meal which I thought was very efficient. The restaurant was packed and there was not a parking spot to be found. Extremely grateful for this establishment for providing a warm meal to so many today when many restaurants were closed. I do believe that they're closing early or at least a little earlier than usual I hope, I appreciate them being open when they also could be home with their families. They make a difference. Regarding the take-out meal, it was a very generous portion and everything was steaming hot and I was able to get it to her and it was still very hot. It came with a generous portion of turkey with gravy that was plentiful. The front windows are so dirty. That should have been our first clue that no one in this place cares. When the waitress brought our dinners she did not even break stride when she threw the dishes on the table. She never came back to check on us. There was only one other table in the whole place. 99% of the time I sat there watching 6 employees shoot the breeze behind the counter. For dinner I had the turkey, mashed potato and stuffing. It's 39° outside, a nice sunny morning ... 10:30am and I drive to a local Bob Evans in Tonawanda to get a good breakfast. To my dismay, everyone else had the same idea. I was terribly disappointed when I discovered I could not wait in my car for a text, or a call to let me know my table was ready, but if I sat outside on a bench (60 y/o asthmatic woman) he could come out to the bench and let me know!! I can't stand up for an hour so I said I would be at the bench, but went to the car anyway. I set a 30 minute alarm to remind me to go in and see how far on the list I am. They used to text customers. I have no idea when mgmt became so anal towards providing good service. I never would have given them 1 star for the food. This is all SERVICE. Followup: When I went in 15 minutes later, the host said "I called you!!" ... he says he came outside for me. I told him I was asthmatic, and I had no idea they could seat all those people in 10 minutes. He took me next so I'm not that upset anymore. I just don't get it. The ONE star stands for today. When our meals finally came, mine was wrong and cold. It was sent back and they gave us banana bread to "make up for it." When we went to cash out, the person before me was charged for my check and I was charged for theirs so they had to figure it out and adjust the prices so that I wasn't paying for more than what I ordered. We have been going to Bob Evans occasionally, on and off, for many years, and they have always earned a solid three stars. Decent food, decent amenities, decent service and reasonably priced. I never write up an establishment with three stars. Tonight, at the Niagara Falls Blvd Bob Evans, the service was exemplary. The waitress (Diamond) never let our coffee cups reach empty, kept the half-and-half coming for the coffee, was very bubbly and pleasant, checked on us regularly, and didn't let the stressors of being at full customer capacity dim her attitude or efficiency. We observed similar attentiveness by another waiter at his tables, and I wonder if management has made extraordinary service a new imperative for the staff at this location. read more

The food was cold and unappetizing. The waitress and service were really slow and inattentive. Took over 20 minutes after we were seated to get the coffee and water we ordered. The waitress walked by a bunch of times and kept saying the coffee was still brewing, but other people around us were getting their coffee even after being seated after us. The waitress kept reaching what we wanted and must have taken our order at least 3 different times, walking away each time and coming back to re-ask what we wanted. After about 15 more minutes, I got my very cold and stiff eggs and sausage. Then, about 5 minutes later, I got my very cold home fries on a separate plate. Food was cold, very stiff and unflavored, and the waitress was absolutely clueless and never checked on us while we were eating. I had to chase her down for the check, and even then, she dropped it off and never asked how things were or even said goodbye or thank you. Just dropped it off and walked away without saying anything. The person who cashed us out in the front of the restaurant never asked how things were and also never said goodbye or thanks. Was not very impressed with the food we ordered. I had the steak house burger and my mom had the pot roast sandwich. The burger was just like and other frozen, bland patty. There was supposed to be A1 sauce on it but I never tasted any. The fries were okay. They got soggy from the corn that was just shoveled in the container. Mac and cheese was actually good. Since my whole table ordered coffees, the server brought me over a cup of the syrup so that I could keep getting refills with them. For my meal I had the "Be Fit Breakfast" which is egg whites, sliced tomatoes, fruit, and multigrain pancakes. For the pancakes you get a choice of one large one or two minis. I opted for the two minis and added the blueberry topping. Unfortunately, the blueberries didn't taste very good. They had a very artificial flavour that I didn't really enjoy. My girlfriend and I were driving around trying to decide on what to eat when we randomly said "screw it" and pulled into this Bob Evans location. Our waitress was super friendly the entire night, very informative, and as helpful as a waitress could be. The menu here is massive and offers pretty much every kind of comfort food you could possibly want. I ended up going with the dinner deal which gives you a soup/salad, bread, dinner, and desert for the price of the meal and a few extra dollars. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, with chicken soup, a roll, and a chocolate chip cookie. The chicken fried steak blew my expectations far more then I could of imagined. The steak was delicious, juicy, and way better then it should of been. The breading and gravy were both top notch as well. The sides were 50/50 ad the mashed potatoes were delicious and the macaroni and cheese was, well, it was cold. I didn't hate the actual mac and cheese but it was definitely undercooked. The soup and the roll were also very good and also gets a thumbs up from me.
