Yes impeller housing may have been bad but had a mechanic on the lake actually do some looking and within 5 minutes he found problem. These guys look for easy way out and charge 139$/hr for service. Found a mechanic on the lake and he's mobile and only 85$/hr. You will not see my service ever again from them or buying anything from them. My system never worked as designed. The other mechanics would keep my boats for weeks on end which prevented me from fishing. Took my boat to Southern Boatworks and had my boat ready in two days. Everything now works as intended. Unfortunate for me, they had to rewire my power cables and change various connections like the bus bar, fuses, ground wires to motor, etc. Not the cheapest repair but it was done right. In hindsight, this was a problem I caused by not taking it to someone who knows what they are doing. In addition, I had a problem with my trolling motor. Another Minn Kota "authorized service center" in Raleigh would only work on the trolling motor without the boat. I am too old to take all the devices (Megalive, Mega 360, target lock and hydrophone off) to say nothing about NOT being mechanically inclined. I think..... if I had taken my boat to these great people in the first place, I I would have saved a bunch of cash. I have learned my lesson and will take my boat to these professionals from now on. Last summer I brought my boat into Water World for an alarm sounding (motor overheating). As they…read morewent through the motor there were other items they found wrong. I approved all of the repairs and knew ahead of time the cost ($4,400). That was a "tough pill to swallow". We got the boat back in September but due to an injury and surgery the boat was covered and parked in a barn until this year. A second surgery prolonged our launch for this season. When we launched the boat, within a few minutes the over heating alarm sounded. When I contacted Water World I spoke with Connor (new service department manager). He asked me to bring the boat in and he listened to my story/concern/complaint about the alarm still sounding even after the large repair bill. He was calm, understanding and asked me to give him/crew a chance to look at the boat. He was up front and said it would be 1-2 weeks. About 12 days later he contacted me and said that they had found the problem, fixed the problem and did not charge me for the repair. When I picked up the boat he explained that he was not with the company last year when I brought the boat in and based on my recollection of the issue he felt that the necessary repair last summer was an oversight and that it was the right choice not to charge me for this repair. Kudos to Connor for remaining calm and professional and making good on a mistake that we both agree should not have happened. Thank you again Connor for your professional conduct. By the way, a week later we launched the boat and everything was working great!

That's why I was so intrigued when I heard about the Freedom Boat Club at Jordan Lake (which is the closest body of water to me). I describe it to my friends as a "country club for boats". Like a country club you have an initiation fee and a monthly maintenance. But that gives you hassle-free access to a fleet of boats. Your ownership experience amounts to nothing more than reserving your time online, showing up at the lake at the designated time, having a blast out on the water, and then when the day is done handing the keys back to the dock crew and driving away. As far as cost is concerned I compared the cost of the boat club to what I was paying for Hurricanes season tickets. It turned out that 1 year of the Canes tickets would pay for several years of Freedom Boat Club - that was a no-brainer for me. Finally, the staff at FBC are great. They help you carry your stuff to and from the car to your boat, see you off and most importantly to me, are out on the dock waiting for me when I come in to help me pull into the slip. When my 3 boys entered their teenage years I was looking for ways to stay connected to them, and activities on the lake were a great fit. Tubing, knee-boarding (and later on wake-boarding) became a fun way to get them outside and active. They looked forward to having friends out there with them, and were happy to have Dad out there driving the boat and keeping things safe. As a guy with very little practical boating experience, the Freedom Boat Club allowed me to create great times and memories with my family.
