As the name implies, they have clothing and gear for those who like outdoor adventures like camping, hiking and kayaking. While I'm not very outdoorsy I do appreciate quality clothing and Great Outdoor Provision Co. has lots of it! The store was nicely organized and stocked and the creakiness of the hardwood floors was quite charming. Great Outdoor Provision Co. is local to Virginia and North Carolina and reminds me of REI, Duluth Trading and Mast General Store. Neither of us had ever shopped at Great Outdoor Provision Co. so we roamed much of the store. In the end we both left with lots of socks. They carry Smartwool, Darn Tough, Farm to Feet and probably some other brands. While I'm a fairly recent convert from Smartwool to Darn Tough I must say that I'm loving the Farm to Feet athletic socks! And for what it's worth, we both bough Farm to Feet socks after one of the employees volunteered some product information about the brand. And we've both ordered more since our inaugural trip to the store last weekend.
