They've done an excellent job keeping the old aesthetic while making it still look fresh and new. The restaurant was so cool but oddly not one other patron in the space. My partners second visit and her second time with a fairly empty restaurant. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's an excellent space but possibly more of a to go spot despite the beautiful restaurant space. The menu is fairly trim but has flavors of east Asia and south eastern Asia. So pho, Chinese and I believe they had some Thai. The food was very good, our egg roll was perfectly crispy and my entree Mongolian beef was delicious. Lots and lots of veggies which is a great surprise for Chinese dishes. I'll definitely be back to try the beef and broccoli soon!

We have tried quite a few dishes and so far all were packed with a lot of flavor!! The egg rolls - super crispy, fried right and delicious. The salt and pepper fish - this one is by far my favorite dish out of all. They had a wonderful crispy coating and were tossed with fresh peppers and the right amount of seasoning. The treasures chicken, beef and shrimp hot pot was hearty and so comforting with tender meat and tasty broth. The Mongolian beef, chicken, and shrimp - was really well-made as well with tender pieces of meat and savory sauce and all these three dishes above married well with the hot, steamed rice that they served with it. I also tried the seafood noodle dish with the white sauce, which had shrimp, fish, mushroom, vegetable noodles, and egg. This one was pretty unique and one of the highlights. It was gooey chewy and all the ingredients tasted well together in a light savory white sauce. This particular one was so comforting that I kept going back to this one for another bite. I love that this restaurant has a lot more dishes to offer and that their portion sizes are huge. The pricing is very reasonable as per the portions with most of the entrees in the range of $16 - $18 with seafood costing a little more. The service has always been very friendly but be sure to dine in way before closing time or the staff might tell you to take a to-go 30-45 mins before closing. Otherwise the restaurant has a very casual relaxed feel to enjoy with family and friends. I still have so much left to try but based on everything I've had so far I definitely recommend Hong Kong star to all Chinese food lovers!!

There wasn't much of a wait for our food either. Now the food. I can't say the same. There was a kids menu but no kids juices so that was disappointing. I ordered the spicy beef fried rice, the beef did not taste fresh and gave my rice a weird taste. The vegetable fried rice was dry BUT had an enjoyable blend of vegetables. The vegetable Lo mein was not flavored BUT the vegetables were thoroughly cooked. The "Chinese" doughnuts were still a bit doughy inside BUT they were surprisingly still good and I'd say were my favorite for the night. Also to note, there wasn't any prices on the dine-in menu but included on the takeout menu which I thought was different because no one wants to be surprised with their bill. Overall, not a spot I'd be visiting again.
