Maybe our hopes were too high, we had a perfectly decent meal, but we weren't blown away by Bo de B. The shop is extremely narrow, and while there is seating for ~12, whoever sits with their back to the counter is going to get butt-bumped by takeout customers or people moving to/from their tables to the counter. If you grab a seat, the counter people will just ask for you order from where they are, don't expect them to bring you a menu (it's on the wall) or come around from behind the counter with an order pad. We tried a chicken sandwich, croquettes, and potatoes Bo de B, and while we would definitely get the potatoes again, in hindsight we'd probably have gotten a platter instead of the sandwich and croquettes. The potatoes were fantastic; fried potatoes chunks with a spicy ketchup (think Franks Red Hot + ketchup), an herbed aioli, and their version of a tzatziki. It was a generous portion, but we still demolished it all. The croquettes were nicely fried and crunchy on the outside, but were heavier on the fish in the filling than we were in the mood for. The chicken sandwich fillings were all good (when they are ready to make your sandwich, they will call you up to the counter and you can have them put whatever fillings you want in it, and they all looked super fresh), but the bread was unremarkable and we'd skip the sandwich next time and just get a platter instead. The platters are massive, and basically consist of your choice of main/protein, with piles of the fresh toppings all around it but without the bread. We Visited this place twice in our short two day visit to Barcelona. It's a small shop located very close to the gothic district and the harbor. The line is usually out the door (it's a small restaurant), but it's absolutely worth it! On my first visit, I had the chicken bocadillo and steak on the second visit. I ordered the Chicken Salad which was 7,50 Euro whereas the sandwich is around 4,50. Upon entering the little shop, it was clear why. Meats, sauces, and veggies were lined up waiting to be chosen for large loaves of breads as according to the customers tastes. Another great place for sandwiches in BCN is Bo de B. It's a little further out in the Barri Gotic area, near Milk (which is on Carrer d'en Gignas, or something), but walking the extra mile to its location really does make sense if you think about it, because you'll be ordering big sandwiches loaded with carbs & sauces & feta cheese. The lady serving food took a while to bring us our order (I was #3 or #4 in line when I got there), because there was a bunch of ppl ordering inside, & the queue got longer as I stood there for my "para llevar" (to go) order. It seemed the customer base of Bo de B was mostly younger American tourists & locals, including hipsters. The girl that helped me pick espadrilles at La Manual Alpargatera was also there. I was gonna wave hi, but realized we didn't really know each other. So yeah. Location: great location, can be found in the gothic quarter. Value: not sure I've ever had such a filling meal for 4 Euro. I've been waiting for a restaurant that deserved 10 stars, and this is finally it. You may think it is a hole in the wall, but don't judge it by its cover. With lines sometimes going down the block, it's clear this is paradise for locals and tourists alike. Seating for about 12 or so inside, with most people taking orders to go (sandwiches and salads only). Think of it as a mix between Greek and European dishes, with my favourites being those on the Greek end. The feta salad is a must try, as well as the greek chicken plate (YUM). Get the potatoes to share, as well as a salad, and you will thank me later. The best part? Amazing hospitality and literally incredible prices. The greek plate is something I would pay $20 plus for at a nice greek restaurant, but it will only set you back around 7 euros, and the feta salad even less. BE adventurous, try something new. Split items with your friends, its a great place for that if you can get a seat. Most people in line are simply getting sandwiches to go (around 4 euros, add any toppings you want). Keep in mind its not a grab and go place, it does take a few minutes to create as each dish, including the chicken, is cooked to order so everything is fresh. A few blocks off the main stretch in Barcelona, this is officially my favourite restaurant when you evaluate quality, price and service. This was my go to place for lunch or dinner while studying in Barcelona. The service can be a bit slow so if theres a long line I'd suggest coming back another time. After all it is just a sandwich, which probably isnt worth a half hour wait. HOWEVER. You will never find a better meal for €4.50 (€4 + cheese is an extra 50 cents which I highly recommend). Bo de B has the most fresh and delicious Mediterranean food EVER. The sandwiches are almost a foot long. The platters are piled high with your choice of veggies, protein, bread and sauces. The veggies are fresh, the meat is tender, and the homemade sauces are literally, never thought I'd ever seriously say this, FINGER LICKING GOOD. They also have great juices and Bocadilos. I love how you order your food like you would at a Chiptole, by going down the line with the food in front of you and picking what you want. The selection of veggies is really impressive- it seems like they have every vegetable under the sun. The prices here are very affordable. One downfall to Bo de B is it's very small in size and there are a lot of people stuffed in there since it's so popular. You really have no shot at getting a table as there are only a few and it's very hard to walk around and get by people. However, that's the beauty of the location. Bo de B is just a short walk to La Barceloneta. Take your food to-go and bring a blanket to the beach to enjoy a perfect dining experience. I MISS IT SO MUCH. Disappointment. We were the second people in line waiting to be seated after the restaurant filled up shortly after they opened. Like any normal restaurant, we figured as soon as seats opened, we would be seated. This was not the case. We stood in line outside for over an hour to the point where the restaurant seating was COMPLETELY empty; however, they continued to only serve the "take away" orders. OVER 15 people were served before us, and when we decided we would just seat ourselves, as there was zero reason for us to be waiting outside of an empty restaurant, one of the workers yelled at us to wait outside. Now let's talk about the food: an over-glorified salad that I could (and have) made before at my own home. It's not "that" cheap: 7 euro for rice, meat, and some vegetables. This place is amazing!!! We were recommended this restaurant by a friend who lives in Barcelona. We decided to try it out and spontaneously came around 7pm. We immediately got a table which I guess is rare because we visited two more times and there was always a very long line (and for good reason). The food is cooked fresh in front of you and the staff definitely takes their time. As soon as we got our food we were amazed at how beautiful the presentation of the chicken platter was. Didn't expect much for 7.50€. The plate was packed with food and layered with sauces. Each bite was heaven and we could taste so many different flavors. It was beyond good. The chicken and potatoes were cooked perfectly and we loved the sun dried tomatoes. The sandwiches were just as good. The steak was juicy and cooked medium. They topped each sandwich with a mix of veggies and to our surprise lentils. The lentils added a nice touch. Everything was so good. We came back two more times and even stopped by before our flight home. We got there 30 minutes before it opened (at 12pm) because we knew there would be a line.
