Stayed at the Aloft Hotel SeaTac Hotel ( Seattle airport) on Saturday, December 18. I chose thos hotel based on 24 hour shuttle to airport as I had a 6 am flight home for Christmas. At 2am, we could no longer sleep, I looked out my room window to see my truck below in the parking lot. By the time we had showered and gotten downtown for the shuttle, our truck had been stolen directly from a space just 25' from the front door of the hotel. The shuttle driver was overheard telling the night clerk that he couldnt be "security" & driver when he was off property for 40 minutes of each hour. As we stood in the hotel lobby in tears, the desk clerk offered us nothing. No phone, no empathy, zero. I asked for a bottle of water and was charged. She DID hand us a standard Marriott incident form to complete, absolving themselves of negligence. This was the extent of care and concern provided to us. There was no "security" present, and no management. No one conducted any investigation, nor were video surveillance recordings accessed. In a matter of 30 minutes, the truck was stolen, and reviewing video could have assisted in recovery. With my Christmas plans dashed, not to mention a stolen truck which we need to pull our fifth-wheel home, we received no assistance, no apology, no nothing! Days after this nightmare, we had still heard nothing from the hotel or Marriott. It became quite evident that a decision had been made for us to just deal with our bad luck. Marriott Social Media became involved, and suddenly, we received an insulting form letter from the "Guest Services Manager". It mostly addressed the hotwl associates and was obviously used to appease guests with an unsatisfactory stay. This was not a stained pillow case or rude employee...our truck was stolen, and not a soul with this hotel or Marriott gave a crap. Marriott Social Media continued attempts at getting a response from the Aloft Hotel management, until suddenly, they decided to no longer assist. They told us that the hotel General Manager had reached out by email and telephone. Neither of which happened. Both my husband I were checking our phones, messages, emails, junk files, each day for any news, any hope. I let Marriott Social Media know that the General Manager, unfortunately, was lying to them for whatever reason. If not, he/she could easily supply phone logs or sent email copy...but none exist. So why has the Aloft Hotel at SeaTac decided to lie, and cover-up, rather than acknowledging and apologizing? The franchise company is BMI Hospitality of Seattle. I've reached out to them as well, but at this point, not expecting much. I worked for Marriott for a number of years, and cant begin to express how distressing their behavior has been. We certainly wont be utilizing any Marriott properties for our future travel. My husband has requested that his company travel department exclude Marriott and Bonvoy collection for all travel as well. The cost of not being able to say "I'm very sorry", just got real, and I cant recommend a hotel that chooses this type of behavior as corporate policy. read more
