Updates: Earlier this month both elevators broke again. This time the "communication failure" light that's been blinking for months finally got remedied. Management was also around the night (They are never there at night. I mean they have to go home sometime that's not their fault) the elevators broke, so I suspect there's more going on this time.
They're doing a special where you can recommend the apartment to your friends and get a referral discount. Even going so far as "Wine not make your friends your neighbors" event. First off, that's a bad pun. Second, your company is being sued for price gouging in an already city. I wouldn't subject my worst enemy to overpriced housing such as this. There are plenty of apartments in Seattle, and even Ballard. Tell your friend to move someplace else like I wish someone told me.
The storefronts on the ground level facing market street are still empty, with no progress noticeable. Some of the reasoning for an inflated cost is having shops and such conveniently located. But there's nothing there. 2 new businesses have started to get set up in market street nearby, a pizza place/bottle shop and a doggy daycare. One is redoing a completely empty storefront instead of the brand new building. If new businesses are popping up everywhere but the new storefronts, something must be wrong. My guess is the price.
The garage got broken into and several cars were broken into. While this is almost unavoidable in Seattle unfortunately, it took management almost a week to notify residents instead of us just hearing it from word of mouth. Crime in Seattle is bound to happen, but management hoping to hide it shouldn't be acceptable. The plywood covering up an opening in the garage area where you can assume the culprit snuck in also makes it seem like, again, whoever designed the building never stepped foot in Seattle, leaving such an open space for someone to easily sneak into.
Finally, the reason I was inspired to do a follow up. There was a second survey sent by Greystar asking residents what they like about their apartment. The fact that this has occurred twice in 8 months give off the impression that somebody (Ballard Yards itself or Greystar) don't know what they're doing and need to pester their unfortunate price gouging victims for advice to sell their leftover units. The tone of the survey comes off more as "See how nice it is? You should be thankful you have granite countertops instead of the ability to save any money". It's tone deaf and tasteless. If you want to fill your units lower you price. There are two more building being constructed on 24th and Market. Competition that this place needs to deflate it's overblown ego. read more
