And there are *no hard sells*. I know just enough about cars to be dangerous, so I know when I'm being sold a schlock job or something that isn't needed. Marcin and his mechanics look at your vehicle and then explain, in great detail, what they recommend doing now (time for that maintenance item, safety issue, fire hazard, etc.) and what they recommend doing but can wait a bit. They also tell you when you *don't* need something done. Who does that?? He only supplies quality parts, and OEM when he can. The latter isn't always possible so that's when he switches to high quality, as-close-to-OEM-as-possible. It's just a great place to take your car. You leave feeling really comfortable that the job was done, done very well, and that the work is all guaranteed. And he does guarantee his work. We'll be customers forever.

Their biggest asset is the fact that I trust them. I trust that what they tell me needs to be done, really needs to be done. So many other shops will throw in unnecessary work and claim that you must do it. For example, brake pad replacement. It seems to never fail that other shops will always tell you that your calipers need replacing. Compare that with J&M. I put performance pads on my car. I buy them myself and took them to J&M to replace my pads. Murph calls me and tells me that the pads on the car are still good and I shouldn't replace them. I had already bought the new pads and my car was with them, so I told them to go ahead and replace them. He actually kept arguing with me (in a friendly manner) that I still had plenty of life left on my existing brakes. I thought "This is a shop I trust". He was actually arguing against me spending money with them.

I come here because it's close and convenient and from who I've spoken to it seemed to be trustworthy enough place to go for a simple state inspection. They call and tell me its failed inspection due to alignment and will need to pay $130 to fix it. Once again my first car, new driver, and also a young female I don't know what I'm dealing with but I did my research enough to know the alignment would have had to be pretty severe to fail inspection. Long story short, they lied my alignment was perfectly fine before going there and infact I NOW feel like its off since taking my car there and my breaks are also now squeaking when I reverse which never had that issue before. I spoke to Jeff, the owner, man in charge I guess? Not sure what kinda business he's running because it only took me a few interactions with the workers to realize it's a shit show. I was asking for an inspection report because all I was ever given was a receipt, he says it was sent to my email. It never was, so then I have my mother call as they aren't taking me seriously, talking to me like I'm dumb. Jeff quickly switches up the story again and he has no report or records from the work done on my car and that it was sent straight to the MVA. I'm sitting right next to her and I say "Hi Jeff. You said it was sent to my e-mail yesterday and it never was and now you dont have access to the records? I finally come in person and after way too long of back n forth they give me a checklist of what had been done after repeatedly asking and being told there's no records to give me. Glad you cheap asses could make a quick $130 off a young girl not knowing better :) Stay clear of this place its way better ones in sykesville for-sure and that won't lie to make an extra buck

We started taking the cars there when he worked in Eldersburg, so there was a convenience factor. He no longer works out there, but we still choose to drive all the way out to Carroll County from the city just to take our cars to them. Can't imagine finding better mechanics. I did see the other review about paying to look at the car. I have always thought it was a safe practice to ask a place if they do free estimates - I do not consider that a given.
