But I think they are best known for their custom cake creations. I've seen them in action delivering a huge cake to someone for some special event, and this thing was nearly three times the size of an ordinary cake. Today I purchased a whole red velvet cake and I am betting that it's as delicious as the lemon morange pie that Ingot from here a couple of months ago. The employees here are also extra nice to every customer who walks thru their door. They have real manners and I can tell that they respect your time as well. If you happen to live in the Alexandria area, I would highly recommend this bakery for their awesome cakes and pies.

Everything from placing the order to delivery of cake is seamless and professional. She created a custom baby shower cake for me in 2016 which not only looked so cute but tasted amazing! Then I had another opportunity to try a wedding cake she created for a friend which was exceptional! Most recently, she created a custom cookie number cake with delivery to a busy restaurant in DC. The cookie cake was just so beautiful! You can easily taste the quality in ingredients used and see the quality in decoration as well as assembly. I can't wait for the next opportunity to work with Mimi again and recommend her to everyone I know in the DC metropolitan area!

While a few minor updates could enhance the space, it was overall very cute and welcoming. The young woman working there was knowledgeable and friendly. She took the time to explain the six cupcake flavors available that day and shared some of the shop's history, which was a nice touch and made the experience more memorable. As for the cupcakes, I had very high expectations and was hoping they would be outstanding. They were definitely good, but they didn't quite wow me. While I'm glad we gave the shop a try, I'm not sure it's a place I would feel the need to visit again.

The breakfast menu leans more toward pastries, with a couple of prepared larger dishes they can heat up for you. The bakery itself is quite spacious, and they also have a lot of seating on the outdoor sodewalk. There were many pastries and cakes on display, and I eventually decided on the cranberry orange scones and a mocha. It seemed to be a pretty upscale type of bakery, and I'm not sure how extensive their cakes and pastry selection is. I sat outside for a good 20 minutes just taking in the awesome weather today. The scone pastry and mocha were very delicious. There were about three people working here and the service was right on time.

We set up a time and date a little more than a month before our next trip to DC to pick up a cake tasting box. We literally planned our whole trip around meeting Michelle. Our cake ended up being amazing. It was an Oreo infused vanilla cake with a vanilla frosting...so good!! She also made us blondies and brownies, which were a big hit. She did our favors too, alfajores, which were kind of hard to find here. My Chilean friend was very impressed! She also made the favor tag, and boxed up all the favors with a nice bow.
