Sunday night dance party. Yes ladies night is Wednesday but it was Sunday and we needed to dance! Though they claimed no cover before 11 pm, the line was backed out the door and around the corner and did not move until 11. So $7 cover. I suspect foul play. Still, I was surprised to see so many people shaking it on a Sunday night, so no points taken. Loved it. Some of the same crowd as South Beach, which is just across the street, but top 40 and latin hits instead of lame techno! One of my favorite venues to frequent in Montrose for its sound system, DJ, and beverages. You're almost certain to have a good time and dance the night away. I've often had really polite and attentive bartenders, although the bars around the dance floor get pretty jammed which makes for a while wait for a drink. If you want to visit this place, I'd recommend leave home early enough to give yourself plenty of time to find parking unless you prefer to pay the $10 for rear-parking. Otherwise, use Uber. My one pet peeve about Blur is they actively keep a line out front, for whatever reason. You can go waiting in line for a good 15 or 20 minutes just to enter and find a clear, spacious, wide open dance floor. I'm not sure if they do this to make it appear highly desirable or packed, but it's enough to be considered a pet peeve. Other than that, I pretty much always have a great time at Blur. read more

This place is very fun and all but there's always drama going down or a fight. I love the atmosphere, but people always seem to be so dramatic and give you a stare like you don't matter in life. But some people actually were nice enough to talk to you and dance with you. Honestly I love this place only for its friendliness but sometimes the people here can be over the top. Did I forget to mention how crowded the dance floor is? It's so crowded that you get no opportunity to dance and you tend to remain in literally one space. I came here on Latino night (Sundays) and was not impressed at all. Cover was $10. That's annoying when you are well over the age of 21, and don't know what to expect from a club. So parking's bad but I suppose it all is around this area. If you want to park in the lot it was somewhere between $5-15 (yeah a big difference, sorry I don't remember!). My friend and I waited in line for quite some time. When we finally got in we got some beers, the bartender was nice. There wasn't THAT many people here but it wasn't empty either. They have a small little dance floor, an outside area downstairs and upstairs.Three bars (i think). The music was alright, they played Single Ladies which I thought everyone was tired of? After a fun dinner with my co-worker, we decided to go have just one more drink. Since we were in town for business I had to rely on my limited knowledge of the area. I knew I could get us to a gay bar, but I wasn't sure about the crowd. When we pulled up there was a parking space in front that one of the attendants indicated we could use. As soon as we got out of the car another attendant told me to move. Little frustrating, especially since they charged us to park there. Once inside it was like we walked into another world. Very dirty. It looked like an old barn that they hung a disco ball inside. Extra bright lights around the bar and extremely low lights everywhere else. I was a little scared to sit on the couches because I couldn't see what might be on them. Drinks were okay. The music was okay. The door people are gross and mean. A group of my friends and I came out for a bachelorette party here since it was recommended and I heard the music was good (i.e. hip hop and not electronic/rave/trance) Pros: -Parking actually wasnt bad for us, we circled around the streets nearby and across and got lucky with 2 spots -Other clubs/bars are pretty close to each other -Music was good! There were some songs that were kind of lame but overall we had a good time dancing -Upstairs bar and outside roof Cons: -$8 cover :P -SOOOOO smokey inside!! Its not cigarette smoke, but like haze. There was no use in taking pictures inside because it came out all smokey! -Dance floor got extremely crowded after 12:30AM -We expected male dancers, esp since this was a gay club! I've been here 3 times, 1st occasion I lost my wallet and the managers and bouncers were hella RUDE!!!! 2nd occasion I couldn't get in with a documented Texas government Paper ID after losing my wallet the first time 3rd occasion I got kicked out for asking the price after paying to get in and the ugly fat man with glasses next to the Asian lady said "fixed your face" and a bouncer came and escorted me out. A rundown hip-hop club. It might be gay, but brings all of the hip-hop scene issues with. It is a packed dance floor, and doesn't seem as safe. For having a cover (most bars in the area don't), I would expect a lil beefier security and possibly a dress code, to help with some of the issues that can arise. The overweight Asian woman at the door assaulted me. We came in and asked what the cover charge was. She explained it was $8 for people who are 21+ and $10 for people who are under 21. This added up to $26 for our group. I attempted to give her $25 cash and $1 on a card because I did not want to break another $20 bill for a $1 charge. She then told me to "stop being f****** cheap". At that point just paid the fee in all cash. As we were walking past her I asked my girlfriend why this woman was being so rude to me. At that point she lunged at me and used her large linebacker frame to slam me into the wall. Day that they say no cover before certain time is a scam as they make you wait in line as much as they can so that you end up paying anyways. I am from Houston and have been going to blur for a couple years. The last four or five times I have gone it has gotten worse and worse. Last night will be the last time I EVER go back. The staff is so fucking rude, bartenders and the door lady. The time before last night the bartender in the front right when you walk in took his sweet time getting our drinks and was taking shots with people while holding my credit card. That is beyond RIDICULOUS. We went upstairs to try that bartender and were ignored, we walked up and he was talking with a group of 3-4 guys, saw us, looked away and continued talking. There was nobody else at the bar but them when we walked up so to ignore us is rude. A few minutes later he decided to walk up to us so i decided to walk the hell away because Im not giving him my money. Last night we tried the new female bartender downstairs at entry bar and she did not smile or make eye contact once. RUDE ASS STAFF!!!! And dont get me started on the door girl, rude every single time. Once we left we met some guys from Dallas and they proceeded to tell us it was their first time@ BLUR and that the staff was very rude to them as well. That was the final straw for me, I will not be going back to this bar for guaranteed RUDE customer service. Took a client out to this bar to relive the boston bar scene (we were NOT wearing our HLS shirts- too old for the young pre-laws) The bad: There is little to no indication that this is a gay bar. No discrimination here, but some notification would be nice. My client, a classmate from Yale, was as used to diversity as I was back on campus. However what he thought was a dance-off with a friendly man in a mesh shirt lead to my client being groped. The good: all around great bar, great bartenders. Really fun, youthful crowd. I am from Arlington in the Dfw area. Some friends and I have been here twice and we absolutely love the club, atmosphere and music. Its just a bunch of Latino people having a bad ass time to some good ass music. I love dancing to hip hop and r&b music so this is the place to be!
