This place is terrible! Their drink prices are high. And although they claim you can use a credit card I was told conflicting information when I was here. The first bartender took my card no problem. The second one wouldn't so I had to take cash out and pay a $5 fee, even through my friend called and asked before hand to confirm we would be able to use our card. The next guy (bartender) told us that they could take our card if we opened a tab. I was very annoyed as I had already taken cash out. This place is terrible! Parking is $10 cash only. I visited this club on a Sunday despite being advised that Saturday's are the best days to go. There were a little over 50 people at 12:30am when I walked in. Not many people on the dance floor, but plenty of seating. The music was actually pretty good for a Sunday - a mixture of cumbia's, reggaeton, merengue, and even some Latin rock. We interacted with the bouncer, a bartender, and a cocktail waitress. Both the bartender and bouncer were friendly, but the waitress wasn't too welcoming. In town for the holidays and we wanted to go to a club on a Sunday night... well this place did not disappoint!!! Not sure why all the bad reviews honestly because I had the time of my life! Not sure if it was Latin night on Sundays or what but that's the only music they were playing!! It was four of us and we danced all night. We arrived around 11 and it was pretty empty but the vibe was still there.. had a couple of drinks and next thing you know around 12ish it was a decent amount of people there, and around 1 it was packed!!!! The drink prices were very reasonable. I'm used to the Vegas prices and so when the bartenders said about $30 for 4 drinks I was like WOW!!! Yes!!!! Also, no cover charge!! If you're in town or live here this place is definitely worth to explore!! I'm pretty sure it gets better on Friday or Saturdays!! read more

I went there on a SATURDAY. I'd recommend looking carefully at what day of the week you are going before you follow advice given by these reviews. I got invited by some new friends to go there. I remembered driving by this place in the past. Not the nicest of areas. And I've never been to a discotheque in Houston before. The people inviting us are very nice and reasonable people so I decided to read some yelp reviews. Overall I got nervous again, but I noticed that many yelpers say that there are PLENTY of Houston police department members working. So my odds of survival seemed to go up. What I learned later is that there are many security officers that wear the type of uniform that make them look like cops. We paid $5 to self-park. And then we paid a $10 cover. I noticed there is a $15 cover for those who are not 21. That's usually kind of a red flag. The only other 18 and up "club" I have been to recently is Stereo Live and that was for a concert. Also upon entering I was tapped on the shoulder because I forgot to get frisked. I definitely got a really solid pat-down, groin area included, by the guy who I thought was a cop (but later realized was security). I had like two iphones in my pocket keys and all kind of things and I'm surprised he didn't ask me to empty my pockets. But I guess their job is to just pat you down and they don't have problems with people smuggling in secret spy weapons. Also they don't pat down women or ask them to open up purses, and I'm ok with that. It's just presentation. The night was really fun. The place is very nice! The people inside were not "uncivilized" as other reviews might suggest. If you judge the place by the inside, you'd have no idea you are on Richmond and Fondren! Their are two areas: A salsa area (very big and crowded) and a modern area that plays club music. I guess the "modern" area is called EXTRAVANGZA and your cover is actually getting you inside two establishments. I found it really weird that they only take cash at all of their bars! Again, it looks like a really nice place inside so I figured there would be credit card machines. Also I went to the smoking area/patio once... and it was kind of intimidating... same with the bathroom. Someone cut me in line and I didn't really want to complain. So maybe there are some jerks there... but I think it's NOTHING as bad as what you come across anywhere else.. people are so much more civilized here than Washington and Rice Village. Also I should say this now: There were definitely a lot of DANCE CREWS. This is something I've noticed a lot and a sign that your club might be about to go out of business. Teams of like 5 guys dressed in special outfits that take turns doing solo dances on the dance floor... occasionally you get some good dancers who do like headspins... but usually it's just a bunch of crazy feet stuff and NO ONE EVER LIKES IT except for the people in the crew. Sure people will watch for a few seconds but NO ONE APPRECIATES it. I noticed a dance crew having their little dance offs (no opponents unfortunately so no one to GET SERVED) and the DJ would give them "y'all need to make some room and cut that stuff out" speech and discourage it. I like the clubbish room since it's really modern and it has these stages which remind me of like little Mixed Martial Arts octogons or WWE rings. It looked really nice actually. Again not sure why they don't have credit card machines. The worst thing about the place is they charge a $10 cover and $5 parking yet everything is priced the same as Washington and any nice place you go to. Girls walking around with what they call shorts but what I call UNDERWEAR! hey butt were very visible...and big part of it was visible. This place used to be the place to go for some latin dancing around a decent crowd. I just went there last week and here is what I found. You will have to pay for parking $5, but still. You go in and there is a cover charge after 10 or 11 depending on the night. $15 if you're 18+ , $10 for 21+. You do get frisked for weapons (guys) which I found odd until we went inside. The place itself is a little dirty and has an awkward subtle smell. The people are definitely on the ghetto side, bit hey it's Richmond. The ladies room is not clean so just be aware. I gave this place 3 stars for the music alone. In the large room you will dance to bachata, merengue, salsa, etc the DJ played a good mix of current and classic. In the small room I felt as if the early 2000's was alive again. With a mix of hip hop, current and not so current, I danced my butt off in this dance floor/ stage area that is set a little awkwardly. So I hear its going down at this spot every Thursday night from the infamous 97-9 Da Box. So I have been to this spot on several occasions the last few years. When I was younger I used to live at this place, and I see the atmosphere is still the same. Bunch a scrub guys, and hot I mean half-dressed girls, women, sluts, whatever!., The drink specials are shots that will have you wasted for $2 a pop. So I took advantage of the shots, had a blast danced the night away, I felt very safe inside with the strong presence of HPD. The downside of my night I got too wasted, caught a cab home, but misplaced my freaking MyTouch $400 smartphone. Thank God I left my IPad2 I just purchased for my bday 10/01. So after i cried, i cried i missed my pictures, my video, the access to my email will the crook manipulate and still my identity. So two days later I sober up, went out and brought a phone for half the price $200 I did not deserve such a great phone. Keep in mind I have had a total of four phones in my life, so I have never ever lost, or had a phone stolen. I would suggest people have a designated driver, respect the roadway for the sober people driving which are more likely to lose their life, than the drunks. read more

It was so awesome!!! It's very loud to the point where you can hear the beat in your chest. Ladies YOU NEED HEELS OR SNEAKERS. NO SANDALS ALLOWED. I had no idea and I barely got in Bc I didn't have the right shoes. There are two rooms. Latino side and a more hip hop side. The drinks are pretty pricy, but overall a super fun time to have with your S/O or just a fun group of gals. I would recommend brining someone who speaks Spanish if you don't speak any. This place use to be the "place" to go. I'm not quite sure when that changed, but the last two expierences have not been pleasant. I'm sorry but if I'm out on the weekend and spending my money I want to have a good time. You have to pay for parking and they tell you where to park. I left once because they wanted me park my car closer to the car next to me. I told them no because I knew it wasn't enough space and my car would end up with a scratch that night. Second time I went with my sister and walked in about 10:06pm and we were told we had to pay. Apparently that was their night where it was free before 10pm, Alright cool. I paid and walked in to find the dance floor empty and maybe 4 couples in the whole place. We made ourselves comfortable at a table and ordered drinks. Well, let me fast forward to 10:50 pm when it's picking up now and people are starting to come in. We were coming out the restroom which is right in front of the entrance when my sister said hey look those two girls just walked in without paying. So I asked the girls hey did you just get here and did you pay? She said yes we just got here and no we didn't have to pay. At that point I'm like hold up so why did I pay walking in 5-6 mins after but you're 50 mins pass the free admission time but get to walk in for Free? My sister was going to say something to the lady at the front charging and security that stands right there, but I told her to let it go. All the staff were friendly. We got there before 10 on a Sat so we got in free, guys and girls which was nice since most places only let ladies in free. Paid $5 to park in their lot but be mindful of what time you want to leave because they might park you in. Luckily we left a little early (about 1ish) right before another car blocked us in. The music was authentic Latin music and the crowd was 99% Latin. At first it was kind of empty but it filled to at about 11ish. Everyone was dancing and having a good time. It was a nice vibe and I didn't feel like people expected anyone to be professional dancers or stared at anyone. I had more fun than I did at Vegas clubs because it wasn't hot and sweaty and crowded but there was enough of a crowd to dance and have a nice time. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had two clubs. When we got tired of one music selection we went to the other side that was a little more urban and younger. First of all, this club is next to a Taco Cabana, which is on the corner of Fondren/Richmond. I am disappointed in this place. I went on a Saturday and to my dismay, was charged $5 to park in the club's own parking spaces! Ok, $5 is cheap, but no other clubs that I know of in Houston charge for parking. I would think that overflow parking might have a charge, but come on now, its own parking? No 1st come, 1st serve? Then to top it off, the bar only takes CASH. When does a club only take cash?
