Went to see a DJ here. Ample parking, very spacious venue with lots of spaces to hang out and move about. Bars are downstairs and upstairs. Pretty much hung out upstairs which had a great view of the performance without being squished or smothered by people. read more

Stereo Live, the venue that many of us reluctantly attend if we want to see our favorite EDM artists in Houston. On one hand, things aren't that bad from an audio and visual perspective. Audience members can hear the booming speakers from any section of the stage without the bass overtaking the rest of the song components. The volume near the front is overwhelming if anything. Additionally, the main stage comes with a wide screen and enough light projectors to display an array of disorienting graphics. Then we get to ventilation. Heat and crowdedness are the dreaded problems of any indoor rave, but they're especially present at this venue. Dress LIGHTLY. I do appreciate the spacious wooden seats near the entrance if I desperately needed a breather, but sitting there would mean that I'd be at the back of the crowd when I return. Previous reviews have reported problems with the friendliness of the staff. I haven't had issues with check-in security or the bartender so far, so service might be hit or miss depending on who's working. Anytime someone performs here, I have to weigh the pros of having a fun night out with my friends against the cons of enduring a sauna-like experience with an overvalued price tag (Galantis for $60-80 at... Stereo Live?). You can definitely still enjoy your experience here, but make sure to wear earplugs and a tank top. read more

First let me say I would go back but not my first choice for the area. We saw James hype and it was an amazing set. Our first bartender Megan was amazing. The place is really hot except for one area upstairs behind curtains. Not sure if this is a vip area. The bathrooms smell pretty gross. The patio is cool. The sound system and screen was great. Biggest issue and tip is leave EARLY! Even 5 min or so. They stopped the set. He didn't start playing until 12:30. Once the set ended they turned on the lights; music off and the vibe was so angry and felt very dark energy. We had to corral into one small exit passing by someone who looked like she od'd and needed to go to a hospital. Was pretty freaky. We were uncomfortable. All was fine before. Everyone upstairs was respectful and friendly. I'd go back again. Just won't stay till the end. Get out early lol you've been warned. read more

Used to go all the time. The venue has changed the direction and culture significantly. Safety is important but kicking out people for dancing is pretty crazy. I watched security walk out and force out people every 5 minutes or so. One security guard kept saying the same thing, that everyone was dancing inappropriately. The place was practically empty and they were getting rid of more and more people. There was one group they kicked out where an underage girl had been drinking, which was more than reasonable to kick out the group in my opinion. But the rest was pretty insane to watch. Honestly, I think I'm at that point were I'd rather be at a bar with nice music than deal with the stress of stereo security breathing down your neck. Security should have clear guidelines on what's a reasonable expectation of behavior is and that should be posted online. It's a nightclub/raving place. People are going to be dancing together and grinding in that kind of atmosphere. It's a little crazy to be throwing people out over that. But if you're going too, at least make the rules clear. All of that being said, big shows are decent to go too when the second floor is open. But not sure I'll be going back unless an actual big name is there. read more

It's your typical EDM venue with dirty restrooms, sticky floors, expensive drinks, and security staff that can be rough and unpleasant. But tickets for shows are cheap and the sound quality of music sets are top notch. I've had the pleasure of seeing multiple EDM artists here, sometimes for free if you sign up with the venue's newsletter. Gareth Emery, Paul Oakenfold, and the Bingo Players are some of the ones I enjoyed the most. Plus you'll meet some interesting fans here either dressed up or on some kind of substance. I'm just here for the music but who am I to judge since I'm in attendance with them. I've never had issues with safety here. Parking can be prepaid online or pay at the door but it can be a tight fit if you drive a larger vehicle. read more

I read a lot of negative reviews on google about this venue. After my first visit, I can't say I experienced any of that. Parking was $10 at the door and can also be prepaid online. Their lot is really tight in some areas, so be careful about getting scratches on your car. There is an outdoor area with a separate DJ. Poor guy out there didn't stand a chance. The indoor area has the main stage with a bar to the left. Women restroom is by the stairs but the men restroom is by the stage. There are cleaner restrooms upstairs imo. The tables are upstairs and you can get better views up there. However, it smells more like piss up there. They need to fix the screen because there are yellow and blue tabs ruining the view! The lady bartender upstairs took care of us all night. Too bad you can't tip. Drink prices are not bad. read more

EDM DJs PLEASE STOP BOOKING HERE. Please play somewhere other than Stereo Live & the rave community will thank you! This past weekend the DJ came down into the crowd to say hi to his fans & security tried stopping him. Even after the DJ said no he's fine, they still insisted on him moving. The security here KILLS the vibe and are not on our side. They are rude, rough and judge our entire community. The only thing I do agree with is security kicking out people (men) that won't keep their hands to themselves, but other than that they give dirty looks to everyone that looks different than them. There's not a single employee that looks happy to be there or enjoys the music the slightest. The drink selection is the bare minimum & tip is included in the drink price. Before the headliner even came on at a small show last night, they "ran out of white claws" which shows management does not care as long as tickets sell. Tickets ONLY sell because we chase the DJs not the venue. On a positive note, I do like how there are areas to sit outside on the patio where there's additional music. There's also couches inside (if available and not reserved) to sit on if you get tired, and there's a second floor with sections that can be reserved. Overall it's a nice venue with great sound quality, but the crowd, staffing and security need to chill. read more

In the recent history of this venue, it's gone through some major upgrades in terms of sound quality, visuals, and innovative changes such as the "360" or boiler room style sets. But one thing is clear. This place is too damn small. Why people would even consider paying final tier prices for any show is a mystery. At that point, people should know the venue will be packed like sardines. I'm that guy who wants to just dance and shuffle without having to worry about knocking some dudes drink out of their hand for trying to cross in front of me. Oh, we can't forget to mention how hot it can get in the venue. I guess the owner is trying to save on his light bill because it was definitely 85 degrees or more by 1 AM tonight. But I will say you can always find good talent and music at stereo. Ticket prices are also pretty fair. Parking prices are fair (sometimes you can even get free street parking if you go early enough); also, I would recommend that you don't park with the guys in the next parking lot next to stereo (scammers who ask to be paid cashapp and gouge their prices). But I'm just not a fan of tight spaces. Security definitely kills the vibe, but perhaps the owner has been burnt one too many times with people getting irresponsible with their behavior. All night, there were 4 or 5 guys with their flash lights running around near the front of the venue. Anyway, I'm not looking forward to returning anytime soon. security is ridiculous. my friends zipper on her bag broke and a security guard came up to us with his flash light and snatched the little metal piece that broke off out of my hand like i was doing drugs or something. once he realized it wasn't anything we called him a fucking idiot bc of how rude and aggressive he was. Security will arbitrarily kick you out. They won't give you a reason when you ask them to and the officers don't care why you're being kicked out either. Don't close your eyes at this venue or a 5'5 red head will say you're going in and out of consciousness and need to leave. read more

This venue is trash when it comes to crowd etiquette. No "excuse me's", mosh pits (banned by the venue, most likely due to slippery floors), people throwing up in the crowd, rude security, proper exit not clearly marked, no toilet seat in the men's room (look up Ally's law.) The one good thing is that drinks are reasonably priced and tip is included. If you're looking for PLUR vibes, you won't find them here. If I lived in Houston, I'd boycott this venue. read more

Since my last review they definitely improved the lighting here. It's still not world class but hey now they have lasers at least. Now we are just 10 years behind other cities. As Houston's only true EDM venue you're stuck with this place whether you like it or not. Tickets here run pretty cheap unless a well known artist is in. Drinks run about $10 each. Same for parking but I see people parking on the street behind the building for free. They have two levels and you can access both. Couple of VIP areas where you can sit otherwise it's standing room only. Nice outdoor patio to take a break. They do randomly search people on entry. read more

Haven't been to Stereo Live for years but got a email about two awesome events, Breathe Carolina concert and Rave of thrones with Kristian Nairn A.K.A Hodor( I know he was a DJ before G.O.T) and they both peeked my interest since I love House music and EDM. Place still looks the same inside which took me back memory lane but they did redecorated the exterior hang area. Sound was good, lights were awesome and bartenders really friendly. read more

The only good thing about this place is the people who come to the shows. Other than that, 10$ parking, outrageous drink prices, and strict security are just some examples of the reasons I won't be coming back. The whole venue is made to make the owners as much money as possible, rather than to bring performers to the crowd. 10$ for a single shot is absolutely bonkers. 10$ to park in a Walmart size parking lot (literally entirely fenced in). Cameras everywhere watching the security at the entrance. On a Thursday night there was a crowd of about 40 people. Maybe. The lighting was good, whoever put on sound and lighting was the reason I added a second star. Once the show was over, the security was kicking people out immediately and very rude to the DJ, who was awesome by the way. I will not be returning- you should find another club. read more

I've been loving Electronic Dance Music (EDM) forever...except it just used to be called techno. Well I must say it has "evolved" if you can even say that but, it's made it's way back into the mainstream and one of the best venues in town to see the artists touring through is Stereo Live. The parking lot is HUGE, if anyone remembers this used to be the old T-Town when Richmond strip was the shizzznitssss. I got the opportunity to see one of my favorite artists at the moment: Krewella. They were on tour with Benny Benassi. He's OK but Krewella KILLED IT! I had a blast everyone there was having a good time, jumping, dancing, and no drama. read more

I'm here all the time. Literally at least 2-3 shows a month. I really like the sound quality. The place is small feeling but there's always room if you look around for it. The bartenders are super friendly (shout out Britany). The crowd is mostly dope, I've def met some really cool people. Highly recommended for shows in the area. read more

The venue was great, sound systems was clear and not overwhelming. Lights were fantastic and Madeon put on a great show. Will not be coming back here after watching the extremely aggressive bouncers and General Manager beating the crap out of a guy in their parking lot. There are several other people who have reported being handled aggressively by bouncers or being touched inappropriately. I no longer feel safe after watching 3 grown men who are employed by this venue attack a defenseless man and stomp on his head. The security didn't not let me in because of a 'contraband' in my purse, which was a blunt. When they have drug dealers inside the venue selling worse drugs. i went for kpop night and the dj wasn't even there that was supposed to be there. i went because i was excited to listen to kpop (like it was advertised weeks in advance) and have a great time. i stayed until 1:00 am just to give them the benefit of the doubt. multiple people complained next to me. kpop wasn't played the entirety of the night. i get things happen, but i didn't like that nothing was said or made clear. i constantly checked the flyer and social media just to make sure i wasn't the one in the wrong. i've heard a lot of bad things about this place, but wanted to see for myself. i wasted money and will not be coming back to this establishment. read more

So Good I took a friend this weekend to see #i_o. Safe for all to enjoy. I would recommend this place for clubbing, first time visiting out of town, experiencing something new, wanna get away and BIRTHDAYS. Security at Door does check ID 18+ only. If you're wanting to check out a house/EDM type concert, Stereo Live is one of your top spots in Houston. Located in the Galleria area, they have a parking lot. I've been three times over the years. Edward Maya, Benny Benassi, and most recently for Pauly D. Yeah buddy! The VIP section is on the second floor. There's a balcony that overlooks the stage in an L shape. If you get a general admission ticket, you're on the first floor but it's a large venue so there's plenty of room. They also have a pretty large patio with an outside bar if you want to get away from the action. Hookah is available out there too. I haven't had the most pleasant interactions with management here but hey, I'm here for the music. read more

Stereo Live was never at the top of my lists of nightclubs to go to. Maybe it's because I wasn't as crazed about the whole EDM hype as the rest of my peers now a days. Or maybe its the number of weird people who wear close to nothing on their bodies and like to squeeze close and rub their disgusting sweat all over you on the dance floor. But I'll have to admit, it has become a hot spot for nightlife in the past year or so, with all the well known EDM DJ's they have been inviting to play at the venue. Most people, including myself, don't enjoy paying for cover at clubs or bars. Most places in Houston don't charge cover, and those that do, never go above $10 per person. Stereo, however, charges you well above $10 for most of their so called "concerts". But I'll never understand why they call them concerts when the "DJ's" on the stage are just streaming either other people's music, or music they pre-recorded - from their lap top. There is nothing "live" at all about their performance. If we can even call it a performance. All clubs are automatically equipped with a DJ, so why must we pay extra for something that is standard for a club? And then you've got the insanely high priced drinks that cost $11-13. And sometimes the same drink at one bar can cost a dollar or two extra at a different bar. I guess I like the fact that they have 3 bars downstairs, 2 bars upstairs, and a bar outside on the patio, so there is never a long wait for drinks. But we already paid to get in, so why is there a need to overcharge your drinks? Recently they have replaced and upgraded their entire sound system, and could not be more proud of it. But I, however, am knocking off a star for it. Why? Because it's TOO. FREAKIN. LOUD. I have been to Stereo Live plenty of times before they replaced the sound system, but my ears have never rang this bad before. Not until recently, right after the upgrade. I don't know about other people, but to me, blasting louder music to the point where it hurts your ears doesn't make the music better. Nor will I enjoy myself even more. read more

While this venue's sound and lighting capabilities are certainly impressive, the management here are fucking dumbasses, to put it bluntly. I drove in from Austin to see Armin van Buuren and they fucked it up big time. First of all, for some bizarre reason they had everyone come in through the patio and not the front doors. The patio is not big. Everyone was crammed against the tiny ass doors to the dance floor. Oh, and the show started 45 minutes late. After a couple hours of some unknown DJ on the deck, Armin started playing. I have to say that the 30 minutes he got to play were fucking amazing....then the fire marshall shut the place down due to overoccupancy. I had a feeling beforehand that they oversold tickets because the dance floor was so packed you literally could not even dance without stepping on someone's toes or getting pushed around. Apparently this happened last week during Aoki, too, which is just baffling. You fucking greedy idiots. Armin had to stop mid-set to tell everyone to get out and come back in so security could get a head count. A lot of people didn't bother coming back. Overall, Stereo Live is a pretty okay place to go. It is probably the only "rave" place in Houston, and they have a lot of big name performers perform here. Those large events are a lot of fun, and they have a great sound system and lights set-up for all of these sets. However, do NOT go for their free rave events/events that are not hosted by actual DJs. Those are really lacking, especially the Trance events. The music usually isn't very good; the place gets filled up with 18 year olds/high schoolers and there tends to be a large crowd of old people, which is kind of creepy. Also, the drinks are really overpriced and oftentimes very difficult to buy because you have to fight through a huge crowd of people around the bar. One good thing about Stereo though is that it's very spacious, even on big event days, and the bathrooms are always clean. read more

Literally a terrible and unwelcoming venue. I was on vacation visiting and was treated like I had the plague just because *gasp* I brought a normal sized designer purse with me! The management of this venue are completely unreasonable. I was wearing a purse that has additional straps to wear as a backpack, and they would not let me in. I am a well dressed mid-twenties professional who does not bring anything illicit into venues like this. The purse is a designer handbag with convertible straps, I removed the straps. And, they still would not let me into the concert venue. This venue is clearly choosing who they let in and keep out without any regards to human decency and sensibility. I was not wearing a jansport or some large backpack that would hit others in the face. My purse is a black designer leather handbag with covertible straps. Literally this place is run by insensitive and unreasonable men who obviously have no idea what constitutes a backpack as far as female fashion is concerned. I've never been turned away from a "club" before. And, if I were to be turned away, I would choose a much cooler place than some abandoned "warehouse" in Houston. I'm pretty sure they only let women in who are skimpily dressed. Due to my sensible outfit and handbag, the "boss" didn't think I fit in with his ideal vision of what a woman at his club should wear. read more

This is the probably the only good venue for EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene here in Houston. However, this doesn't mean it is one of the best venue in the US. First of all, they have a parking lot but you have to pay $10 for parking. Then you also have to know that their security is almost on par with TSA as they will check your ID, check your purse, pat you down, make you open your wallet, etc. All of this to make sure you are not bringing in any contrabands of any kind. Once you're in, the venue is separated in certain areas as there's always the big main stage area with VIP booth on 2nd floor where you can buy bottle service for your EDM needs. There's bars on the left and the right of the main stage and there's also an outdoor area for smokers and ravers to dance outside. The drink price is typical on the high side and most of the time, it will be very crowded like any EDM events. If you're into EDM, you will certainly have a great time here. Every now and then they would go past 2AM (except the sales of alcohol) so you can pretty much party all night long. read more
