Funny. Friendly. Great Prices. DIY Classes! I attended a succulent terrarium making event and Robbin, the owner along with Jerome, taught us everything! The history of succulents, types, care, and process of making our own. We each got to pick our own glass, succulent, and put a variety of decor in ours. Robbin is also HILARIOUS. We were all cracking up throughout the night. Not only was the class informative and fun, their small plant accessories (I got a mushroom and frog) were max $5! I've ordered from Blumz for Valentine's Day after doing much research in the Detroit area for the best quality and price for flowers. Blumz was $10 less than anywhere else and had more flowers. I'm only giving a two stars because I've ordered from Blumz in years past and the arrangements have been OK. It's unfortunate that what is coming next makes me want to give them 0. Let me begin by saying I live across the country on the West Coast. This particular occasion, I decided to call and place an order because it was my mother's 71st birthday. It was very important to me that my mother had a beautiful arrangement given I was not there to celebrate with her. I advised on two separate occasions that I wanted a very full very and lush floral arrangement to make her day special. I told the young lady that I had a budget of $150-$200 to spend. I just wanted to make sure again that the arrangement was very nice. I couldn't believe what the designer had put together for $180. It was full of filler and only 3-5 stems. I purchase home florals monthly and am certain the vase wouldn't not go for $100 at this point. I called the following day after delivery to share my frustration and request that they provide a better arrangement that showcases the value of what I paid. I even told her we could simply discuss a refund because they couldn't get it right. Neither looked anything of what was originally requested for my mother's special occasion. Despite all that, had they delivered the second arrangement as promised with no hiccups, I wouldn't have left a review at all. However, what happened next truly stunned me, and I have to caution future patrons to steer clear of this florist. Upon delivery of the corrected arrangement, the young lady asked my mother for the previous arrangement pictured here back. When my mom asked why she explained that she was taking it back so that she can resell it!!! Keep in mind this set of flowers were delivered a full day prior, so whomever is purchasing this is getting recycled flowers that have been traveled and sitting in my parents home! Not only is this disgusting customer service, but horrible quality control. read more

I cannot recommend this business. The flowers that were delivered to me were not fresh. Most of the roses had brown edges on them and some the other flowers were wilted. My friend from out of state ordered these flowers for me for the passing of my husband. The pictures below show what was ordered and what I received. They were nothing alike. I know there can be some variance but look at the number of roses in original order. The number received were way less. As I told the owner/manager " Your business is known by the quality of products you deliver. My flowers were not quality ' I had received a dozen white roses from another flower company four days before and they are still pristine. No brown edges and no wilting. Another problem was they called to tell be there was a delivery for me. I said I had to step out for business and to leave them in porch. It was 40 degrees outside. They refused said I had to receive them and they wound deliver them the next day but would not give me a time. I called around noon next day and they said perhaps in a couple hours but I had to be home to receive them. Such an inconvenience‼. I could understand if it was zero degrees outside. I see this establishment has high reviews. Obviously those people received quality products. No so with me. read more

Amanda is an artisan of the floral variety. Came in first thing on a Sunday morning with a 60$ limit for a last minute birthday bouquet for our fussy step mother-in-law, and she absolutely built us the most beautiful 60$ arrangement I've ever seen. There are plenty of fresh flowers to choose from in the coolers as well as a smattering of house plants, cards, and gifts. Proud to have supported this small local business. Will be back! read more

This clearly has nothing to do with "flower substitution" or whatever fluff you wrote. As you can see I was given the wrong vase for starters and the arrangement is missing A LOT of flowers considering I paid for a PREMIUM to the tune of just under $200 for this arrangement! I ordered flowers to be custom arranged for a important gift yesterday at noon. I paid an extra premium price for something that at first did not meet the expectations of the presentational value for the amount paid. Today I was further disappointed by the quality and the freshness of the product being used. Having paid over 250$ for six roses two hydrangeas, five stems of spray roses, a handful of stalks and snapdragons, and other filler greens - I expected them to be of utmost quality, freshness, and longevity. Sadly, I was disappointed in all of these. Only 24 hours later all but one of the roses in the arrangement are soft and squishy. One of the hydrangeas is extremely soft and droopy.  I'll update this post based on further response from the management. ------------------------------------------------------- Management reached out to me shortly after the original review. I've heard wonderful things from others about Blumz and I hope that my experience was an unfortunate exception. Management was extremely responsive and understanding about the situation and we came to an agreeable resolution. The arrangement did not hold up well after a day and after two days was unrecognizable as anything but a wilted dying mess. I'll give them another star - up to three from the original two - for excellent customer service. At the end of the day I expected more attention to detail and a product which has quality matching the value. These flowers where anything but fresh and it's hard to forgive a florist for sending out an inferior product for meaningful occasions. read more

I ordered a spray for a family members passing. The spray I ordered was $200 and when I was sent a photo from a relative, it did not look like what I spent my money on. The spray I ordered looked full of flowers on the photo on the website. What was sent to my family however looked like it was a $50 poorly made spray with only a couple flowers unlike what I ordered. I didn't see the actual arrangement since I placed the order online to be delivered to a friend out of state. The price of the arrangement itself seemed high, but I don't buy them everyday and considered that prices for most things only go up. Now, the sale is coming down to the nitty gritty, and their online form asks if I'd like to add in a tip for the delivery driver. I'm a thoughtful enough person to have indicated a reasonably nice tip... They have my credit card info at this point, and produce a total with not a small delivery fee. I might have the wrong reaction to a "normal" online sale, but this turned out to be a pretty expensive floral arrangement! In the future (with a different florist) I will look first for a reasonable delivery charge, and if asked to tip, will still do so, but less. read more

Blumz was our wedding florist and I must say, working with Christine was the best! She was so professional and kind. At one point she even gave me a long pep talk when she saw how stressed I was as my wedding day approached. Blumz is on the expensive side of wedding planning but well worth it. They literally do it all besides the ring and the dress (yes they even have tuxedo rentals) They have the cutest arrangements for gifts and little trinkets for your garden and plant pots. I called Blumz to see if they could make a same day flower delivery within my budget to brighten up my grandma's birthday. The staff member I spoke to was very kind and thorough when taking down all of my information. She asked me if I had any color preference and proceeded to create a stunning bouquet. I asked if they would be able to email me a photo as I knew my non tech savvy grandma wouldn't be able to. I greatly appreciated that they were willing to do this for me. My grandma happened to be outside of her living facility when the delivery person arrived. She told me that he stopped to chat with her before either of them knew the flowers were for her. She said he was so nice and she was thrilled with the flowers. I will definitely be using them again should I need flowers in the Ferndale area! read more

While we were there we browsed the store and found it pretty enchanting. They had a counter with chocolate truffles, gifts aplenty everywhere, and they had a floral cooler with some really beautiful arrangements and even a few Ranunculus. The only reason why it is 4 stars is because it is a bit expensive. Otherwise, this is a really great place - somewhere I continue to visit for flower purchases whenever needed. A local "institution," as I call it - they have never steered me wrong over the years. Always fresh, beautiful arrangements that tend to last longer than online purchases. They were even able to include a small photo of my parents' wedding in the bouquet! We also held our reception at Blumz. The staff set up everything perfectly! We had about 60 guests and a band. We hired Blumz to create our wedding bouquets and they did a fantastic job! We worked with Megan and she was delightful throughout the entire process. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the different types of flowers, so I provided a few reference photos and Megan suggested flower types based on what I showed her. Absolutely awful business. I had two meetings with a worker about exactly what I wanted for my wedding, I showed her pictures and she pretended she understood exactly what I wanted. I believed we were on the same page. Everything I asked for, she basically disregarded. When I showed up to my ceremony, I was dumbfounded that my arch was covered in just eucalyptus and none of the flowers I asked for. My bouquet wasn't cascading like requested, and the boutonniere was some ugly flower I would've never asked for. My parents paid over 3k for these flowers and not one thing I requested was fulfilled. There's no other word for it, I felt betrayed by the lady I worked with and the company altogether. As a bride, I would definitely NOT recommend this company. Everyone here was incredibly fun to be around and never made me feel unwelcome. The owners are the perfect balance to each other and other staff members that I met were just as wonderful. Review of Blumz by J.R. Designs Listed by the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home as a local service. Update 5/24/2017: I was contacted by the owner soon after the initial posting and they provided a full refund. They acknowledged their mistake and said they would work with the staff to ensure an issue like this would not occur in the future. I appreciate the gesture to make things right and feel that this was an honest mistake made by staff that perhaps hadn't been properly trained or didn't have the power to grant the full refund when initially requested. Original Post - 5/21/2017 Summary: Failed to deliver as promised. Misled (lied), about the delivery time. Unorganized. Poor customer service. I advise highly against using their services if you want what your order to arrive at the right place at the right time. The flowers might have been great, but I never got to see them. Detail: Blumz promised to deliver flowers for a visitation on Friday at 6:00 PM. The plan was to have the flowers for the visitation Friday and the service on Saturday. The flowers weren't delivered on Friday or on Saturday in time for the service. After realizing the flowers weren't at the service, I called Blumz around 12:15 on Saturday. They said the flowers were on the truck and would be delivered by 6:00 PM that evening. I informed them that they were supposed to have been delivered at 6:00 PM the previous evening. They apologized and said they would have them at the funeral home before the service started at 1:00 PM. The flowers arrived at 1:15 and thus were unavailable for both the visitation and service. I contacted Blumz after the service to request a refund and was told that the flowers had been delivered before the service started. I called the funeral home to confirm the timing and they said the flowers had been delivered at 1:15 PM...15 minutes after the funeral started. Blumz later confirmed that this was correct. They initially said that no refund would be allowed as the flowers had been delivered. They later provided a 25% discount. It seems that they felt taking 25% of the responsibility for missing 100% of their promises (both the Friday and Saturday events), was adequate customer service. I'm disappointed that Blumz did not fulfill either one of the commitments they made and then chose not to take responsibility. Even though they were very nice while taking the order, their inability to do what they said they would do and then their complete lack of customer service ensures that I will never rely on their services again. read more

This is a lovely florist with a wide variety of gifts to choose from. The staff was very friendly and receptive to my needs....going above and beyond to find the perfect item I was seeking. I was pleased to find exactly what I needed, after scouring the internet for days...who knew it was right here under my nose all along.... i couldn't be happier!!!!! I found that the style of design was right up my alley - a well-balanced compilation of textures and colors in every arrangement.... I also recently attended a Ladies Night shopping event with a variety of vendors (I happened to be one of the vendors as well) - the event was fabulous! Service was fantastic, advertising was clearly well-done as there were many women at the event... the crowd was a great mix of women, all lovely - I sincerely enjoyed myself and just fell in love with the staff...I am looking forward to the next one in the Spring! If shopping for yourself or for a gift, allow yourself ample time to peruse all of the lovely items available for purchase - each time you walk through I promise you will find something new you love....and if you can't find it, just ask.... Parking is convenient as they do have their own lot and you are not required to park in a metered spot on the street. This area of Ferndale is a great location for a florist, convenient and centrally located to expressways, and Woodward Ave. allowing easy access for deliveries, etc. I look forward to using their services in the future for my gifting needs!!!! read more

My fiance and I said multiple times (during the actual ceremony!) "what would we have done without Jerome?! ". It's incredibly cliche but we literally could not have done it without him. The flowers were perfect, but most importantly, we felt like someone had our backs and took all the weight off of our shoulders. Jerome kept everyone in line, on time and did all our dirty work. I did not care about flowers when I was planning. I honestly only went looking for florists because my fiance made me. I met with a few florists and I liked Blumz because Megan understood that I did not want to spend a large sum of money and catered to that in my quote without trying to talk me out of flowers I knew I wanted. Instead of trying to convince me that I wanted carnations in my bouquet (my least favorite flower) because I didn't want to spend a ton of cash, she found a way to give me what I wanted for a completely reasonable price. She even listened to me and made my bouquet smaller than originally quoted to get my bridal bouquet under $200. When I saw my flowers they took my breath away. I didn't even want flowers and they were one of my favorite things about the wedding. I couldn't even throw them away and am currently drying my bouquet. read more

I went to Blumz on a recommendation from a friend. I first called the Detroit location, as it was closer to Quicken Loans, where my husband works. I wanted to surprise him with balloons to reveal the gender of our baby! The receptionist at the Detroit location was very friendly over the phone but informed me that the Ferndale store had many more options to choose from. I decided to drive there to see what they had available. At first impression, the store was very clean, organized, and welcoming. I was kindly greeted by Kaitey, and she showed me several different balloons to go with my "girl theme," as well as the selection of stuffed animals to chose from. Rachael also helped me chose the perfect balloons and assembled a great arrangement to surprise my husband with. They were such a pleasure to work with and really made it an even more exciting experience. My husband is not exactly the sentimental type, but he was so thrilled with the display (and the news :), that he put it on his desk for everyone to see! My second experience with Blumz was much better. We were on the way to the hospital and stopped in for a plant. The customer service was excellent, very helpful and tons of options. I had a price point and they made it happen. The customer service really shined here. I recommend coming into the store - the service is phenomenal. I've lived just around the corner from Blumz in Ferndale for 9 months and yesterday was the first time I went in. I've always been intrigued by the corner store since I moved here, I can't believe it's taken me so long to pay a visit especially after my positive experience yesterday! I purchased a beautiful floral arrangement for a friend of mine as a going away gift. I was so happy that I was able to walk in without an order and walk out only minutes later with a beautiful bouquet in tote! Before leaving they gave me some guidance as I had over 2 hours before it reached its destination. As per their guidance I brought it in the house, it was cold enough to leave in my car (thanks, Michigan), but the sun was beating and I didn't want to let it wilt. So I brought it into my house...this is where the true story lies! My puppy, Ruby, apparently loves the smell of fresh flowers too. Next thing I know I hear something crash to the floor. I go into the kitchen and she tore it off the kitchen table and ate a couple while I was in the shower. Luckily, she didn't destroy the beautiful spider mums or roses. I was already running late, but I knew I had to go back to Blumz and see if they could doctor the arrangement. I walked into the store with the remainder of the arrangement, I told them my puppy story and they happily replaced a few extra flowers and the vase. They were very understanding and SO helpful. They didn't even charge me for the extra service! It was just as beautiful as the first! I will definitely be back to Blumz sooner rather than later! I have worked with Robbin for a number of years and have never had anything but amazing things to say about his work. I love their design, I love their ideas, and the classes at their Ferndale store are fun. I have used them for personal reasons and also for work events I have planned. I have always been happy with the service. The price is about midlevel on the range of florists- however, in my opinion- you get what you pay for. The quality is a lot better than half the places closer to where I live. read more
