What a quaint store hidden a little bit outside of downtown Ferndale. If you blink, you might miss it, but if you love shopping around downtown Ferndale and spend a good chunk of time at Rust Belt Market, stopping by Olive's Bloombox before or after is the perfect way to round out your sojourn in Ferndale. This place offers so much in the way of indoor and outdoor plants, pots, and every other plant accessory under the sun. I always manage to find hidden gems in this space and honestly, some of my favorite plants and pots that I've gotten (and there are a lot of them) are from here! The staff is so knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I brought my friend here who wanted to start getting into maintaining indoor plants in her new home. She picked out a few succulents and a gorgeous pot from Olive's Bloombox and they happily potted all of them into the pot for her to take home. They are so incredible and their stock is constantly changing, so go often & search high and low! Actually this is for the little shop in Berkeley but should still count, right? I recently had moved and was looking to get some small houseplants to add to my apartment and had found this other company via Yelp and went by there and they were closed. So on my way back I passed another business and was looking at things in the windows and at the end I saw some plants. So I go in and talked the young lady and she was very kind and helpful and took her time to show me what she had to sell. I picked out three cute little plants and she off to box them together since I was walking. It was a really great experience and look forward to returning again. read more

I ordered 2 arrangements. 1 to present to a person being honored and 1 for a centerpiece and a corsage for the honoree. I explained that I did not know about flowers and would, "...trust the expert..." for their creativity. I told Jennifer it should be colorful and mentioned a couple types of flowers I knew the honoree liked, but that was about all I could offer as far as design ques. What I got was 2 exactly alike arrangements. WHY? The comments/reviews boast about the creativity of this shop and what I got was just lazy craftsmanship. WHY? Why would anyone do that? Same flowers, same colors, same arrangement. Why would you present the same flowers in the same container that are the exact same as the ones on the honoree table. Using the same flowers, different color, okay. Same color, positioned differently, okay, but same, same, same, why? I feel very disappointed and taken advantage of by this business. Not to mention the embarrassment of being the one that messed up the flowers. To be clear the flowers looked nice enough and for the money were okay, except the corsage. For the cost it was not a good value at all and added to my overall disappointment. What should have been a happy event has been ruined for me by the lazy actions of what I thought was a professional business with skilled crafts people. Disappointing to say the least. RW read more

We used Olive's Bloombox Events in Fall 2024 for our wedding floral design and so glad we did! Working with Lauren, Stacy and the Olive's Bloombox team was amazing. Living in Ferndale, I had become aware of Olive's just by walking by the store and admiring their fun and eclectic style, which very much resonated with my own style. After the initial meeting with Lauren, I loved how easy going she was and how she kept a cool and calm demeanor and knew right then I had found my wedding florist. Lauren answered all of my questions in a timely manner, helped me add in our own personal touch by turning the ideas in my head into a beautiful reality, and really brought a unique and creative eye to the design process, which helped alleviate some of the stress of wedding planning and decision making. On the day of, we were BLOWN AWAY by how gorgeous the flowers were from our bouquets to the larger installations to the "minimalistic" bud vases that really stole the show - they even incorporated the dance floor disco ball installment of my dreams! I loved the florals so much, I immediately hung each of the flowers from our various arrangements to dry out and use as a forever keepsake. Their voicemail box states that they will return each call within 48 business hours, and it has been weeks without me hearing back. I was excited to use them, as friends of mine have, but after the lack of communication, I will be looking elsewhere. Big bummer, and expected better. read more

Laurie and Jennifer from Olive's Bloombox are incredible! We hired them to do the centerpieces for my bridal shower in August-people are still talking about them a month later. The arrangements they put together were the most beautiful I've ever seen. They used invitation for the shower as a reference and nailed it! Each was unique in its own way, but matched perfectly with our setting and vision. If my shower was any indication of what the flowers will look like on our wedding day-I know they will be out of this world.
