The membership feels so worth it because of the variety of classes and the multiple rooms/times available. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to the front desk staff - they helped me solve issues with my booking process (my fault) and were so kind/patient when exposing the different classes to me. Oh and shoutout to Allison Chiang - the Strength instructor. She brought the energy and spent time on form correction. So key! Finally - there's free parking with validation in the building! We moved slowly. Smoothly. Fluidly. Long poses invited us to deepen the breath. Flying transitions reminded us to keep breathing... until it felt like gliding. Eventually, we came down. I signed up for a one month trial for $70. I happened to get…read morevery busy with mom duties and work - so I wasn't able to start my trial yet. (I signed up a couple weeks ago). At first I was excited since I live nearby and planned to start yoga as a self care practice. The lady who initially called me when I signed up urged me to start asap. I notified her that I was still sorting through my schedule as this is the first month of the school year so it's a bit busy on my end. She wasn't friendly so this made me want to put it off for even longer. Mind you, the trial doesn't start until the day I come in for my first session so I was under the impression that I had time. 3 weeks later, my trial that has been already paid for has "expired". I called and emailed, still no response. I'll be doing a charge back on my card since this is bad business practice. Even worse, when I had called them it's either the phone doesn't get answered or the guy who did answer was clueless about which direction I should take. Will not be recommending to anyone and hopefully I get my money back.

I absolutely love this studio, mainly because in most classes, I LEARN something about my body…read more Paul's classes, especially, offer such depth and understanding of biomechanics. Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels.

BE AWARE OF THIS BUSINESS AND THE OWNER. UPDATE: Owner responded under this comment claiming that she does not offer refunds and that it was stated in her studio policy. For us THERE WAS NO STUDIO POLICY SHOWN AND WE DID NOT SIGN ANYTHING. We were also not gone for a month, she did not notify us of her absence so we waited outside over 10 minutes for class and then emailed her to ask why she didn't show up. The week after was the holidays so my girls had winter break for two weeks. However, I told her exactly when we will resume in which she did not disagree with and then when we showed up on 1/6, she doubled booked. I actually met Emily from another yoga studio and LOVED her guidance so seeing her made me feel instantly at home. Chona led the class tonight. The best way to describe class was half fluid and half rigid. The first half was warming up and tuning into our body via stretches and easy flows. The second half was a series of asanas that gradually became more challenging as we flowed through. Though it kicked my butt, I welcome it and enjoyed the discomfort in each pose. The space is simple, peaceful, quiet, and most importantly CLEAN! Mentally, I've already made up my mind that I'll be coming here consistently so long as they're on Class Pass.
