Nordstrom is usually known for exceptional customer service, so this experience was extremely…read moredisappointing. My husband purchased a pair of shoes that ended up being too big. The shoes were in perfect condition, with the tags and receipt, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. When he attempted to return them, the employee acted as though they no longer accepted shoe returns. My husband has an accent and is not originally from this country, and the way he was treated made us very uncomfortable and concerned that he was being treated differently because of that. I called the store afterward to clarify the return policy and was assured that there was no policy preventing them from accepting a return on shoes. Then traveled out of the country. Before leaving, a manager had assured us that they would take care of the situation when we returned. Unfortunately, by the time we came back, we were outside the return window for receiving the money back on the original payment method. The new manager we dealt with was not understanding or considerate of the situation. In fact, she told us that even the store manager might not be able to do anything, but that manager would not be back for another five days. After everything that had happened, we were left wondering what the purpose of waiting another five days would be. We ultimately accepted store credit just to resolve the situation and move on. Then, as we were leaving, we could see the three employees together through the window, laughing shortly after our interaction. Whether they were laughing about us or not, that is certainly how it appeared, and it was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. This entire situation could have been handled so easily with basic communication, understanding, and customer service. Instead, it became a frustrating experience from beginning to end. Nordstrom has a reputation for taking care of its customers. Unfortunately, this particular experience was the complete opposite. I sincerely hope management reviews what happened, because every customer deserves to be treated with respect and dignity--regardless of their accent, background, or how they communicate.

This location in Apache Junction is just 4.7 miles to my east is my go to. It is extremely clean, very well maintained and stocked. If I have a need to visit a Supercenter I'll go the extra mile or two to feel comfortable shopping. Hands down this is my Walmart Supercenter. Several of the older employees I interacted with were extremely rude and had unfriendly attitudes. They came across as if they didn't want to be there, which made the entire shopping experience uncomfortable. Customer service should make customers feel welcome, but that definitely wasn't the case here. I understand everyone can have a bad day, but the negative energy and lack of professionalism were noticeable. I hope management addresses this by providing better customer service training or ensuring employees who interact with customers are willing to do so respectfully. Based on this experience, I'd rather continue shopping at the other location.
