I stopped by for a mid-day pick me up and ordered a decaf iced latte with oat milk. I ordered on the kiosk and it took about 6-7 minutes for my drink to be ready. This was longer than I was expecting since the cafe was pretty much empty. My latte was great, but the prices here are just nuts in my opinion -- I paid nearly $8 for a small latte after tax and tip. While I was waiting for my drink, I took a look at the food menu and the selection looked tasty, but again, I don't think it is likely that quality warrants the prices Bluestone Lane. Cool space with a trendy and fun interior, but I would not come back here at these prices. read more

One of the things I miss most about working in the city is my long breakfast and/or lunch breaks at Bluestone Lane! While it is a large chain, I love how they bring the Australian wellness vibe into the US. As someone who pretty much survives on coffee, toast, and absorbing pretty things -- Bluestone Lane is right up my alley. Their first Northern Virginia location has a much smaller footprint than West End but it still packs a stunning punch! The sunshine flows through the floor to ceiling windows, and the stunning aquamarine tile shimmers from every corner. Ordering is done through a kiosk which is especially efficient for COVID times. I've only been for quick coffee runs and have been pleased with their lattes + freshly baked croissants. I've also picked up a bag of beans for home and enjoyed that as well. Food was alright - the eggs were a bit under salted. The chimichurri lacked flavor, but the guacamole was delicious and presentation was superb. I plan to try other dishes for comparison. Bluestone Lane is a beautiful, light, airy coffee shop and a great place to catch up with friends. The shop is mostly made of ceiling to floor windows and has beautiful ocean blue accents and lush house plants. The coffee here is good - you can order it via QR code at your table and you can continue to add to your order if needed. There are some great food/breakfast options and non coffee options as well. I'm a fan of the avocado toast and granola here. Everything is presented cleanly and is all instagrammable. The only downside is that it can get pretty pricey fairly quickly. I've definitely come for 2 breakfast dishes, a coffee, and an orange juice and had the final bill be around $60-70. read more

I've always been a fan of bluestone lane, so when I heard one in VA was opening up, I had to try. I went on a Sunday during brunch time with a friend. When we arrived, we were told there was gonna be a 20-30 minute wait. So we ordered takeout using the kiosk. However, we were able to get a table a few seconds after we were done ordering which was only a minute or two. We asked the manager to have the order come out for dine-in, which he relayed to the kitchen. We were on a time crunch but we really wanted to try it in-store, so we waited for our food for 45+ minutes. After seeing other tables who sat after us get their food, we went to the takeout pick up area, and found our order, cold. By then, we had to leave and were very upset. We told the manager what happened, and all he said was "well, because you ordered take out." So I had to mention everything to him again which he then remembered. He then proceeded to say, "so what do you guys want then?" I saw that he's been struggling, being short staffed and many angry rude customers, so I tried to understand but the whole situation was so unprofessional. Ultimately, he told us we'd be refunded for our order, but we did not receive that until we emailed headquarters about it. We received stored credit for our order. Although our food was cold, it was yummy, maybe because we were so hungry at the time, but we enjoyed it. We will probably come back because of our store credit but would not come back until they have full trained staff members. read more

Came for mid-afternoon coffee break and was just slightly busy, was able to get a table immediately. The app wasn't working to order from our table, we tried both our apps. However, obviously we still wanted the purchase to count towards our bluestone lane app purchases/rewards. There apparently is no way around it, and you just have to forego your points when Bluestone is the one causing the technical issues. A man rudely told us "it's out of my hands, that's an IT issue". No accommodation or additional help whatsoever. Not helpful and does not make guests feel welcome, especially repeat guests. read more

Stopped in real fast before an appointment because I needed a quick caffeine refuel. I ordered a simple large coffee that was touted to have notes of vanilla and cocoa. The coffee had a great flavor - bold, but not bitter. After trying it black, I chose to indulge and added cream and sugar (I'm usually a black coffee drinker). I was surprised that there wasn't creamer out on the counter, but the barista poured some whole milk in my drink for me. She also offered half and half. The sugar was out on the counter, but it was in an inconvenient area difficult to navigate with the giant croissant I bought. The almond croissant was nice and flakey, but a bit dry. Good for satiating my hunger, but I'd probably try something else next time. read more

A flat white on a freezing day sounded good so I headed over to Bluestone Lane. Tight quarters inside but the floor to ceiling windows brighten up the space. Ordering is done 100% on your phone. Scan, order and pay. Despite that, I was greeted, seated and checked on after my food arrived. The big brekkie is a everything it promises. Toast with a mountain of guacamole and two poached eggs. Two slices and the soft yolks poured out. Perfect. Flat white with a heart flower capped off a great breakfast. It went from empty to packed and gets really loud. Expect that and you'll be fine. I was looking for a casual breakfast spot in the area and Bluestone Lane had yummy looking pictures. I was there on a Sunday morning around 8am and they already had 2 tables taken. I was somewhat "greeted" by a hostess who just didn't look like she wanted to be there. Before I could even ask anything, she said with attitude "I have to seat you". Once I was seated, I used the QR code to order a small cappuccino and soft chili scramble with avocado. The cappuccino was pretty good and I do love their light blue mugs. The egg scramble was good, but my issue with it was that I couldn't taste the spiciness all over the eggs but rather in isolated chunks, which made those clusters of seasoning too spicy to enjoy. I absolutely loved the floor to ceiling windows, as well as the aqua blue tile. However, the bathroom was a bit nasty. Overall, not a bad experience but the value for the buck just wasn't there for me. I could come back just for coffee, but not for their food. read more

Ordered the "Aji Verde pulled chicken sandwich" and have multiple issues. First thing I noticed, I did NOT receive "tender blackened pulled chicken". I received what looked like a diced up piece of regular chicken breast. Very disappointed as everybody knows pulled chicken has that slow cooked delicious flavor throughout. Still tried it tho because I was hungry. Took a few bites and saw something that I wasn't expecting on the bun, what looks like mayonnaise. Nowhere in the description did it say mayonnaise was on the sandwich. I specifically made sure each topping was something that I would eat. Yeah, sometimes places make their Aji verde sauce with a LITTLE mayo, but the sauce on my sandwich was white. Not verde. Even if it is not mayo, there is nothing in the description that could possibly explain this random white sauce, that looks and smells like MAYO. Please update the description of your food to what is actually on it. I DESPISE mayo. So now I am going hungry. read more

You order your food through the QR code outside (which we did), which was simple enough. Service was okay, the only time server came out was to bring out our food. We had to flag down whenever we were missing anything. We asked for a refill on the water but it never came out. Maybe it was the holiday? We got a couple of items from the menu and a few coffees. I felt that the items were pretty mediocre for the price. The food was not bad, but it did not strike me as memorable. If the items were a couple of bucks cheaper, I would say sure try it out, but I guess it is not outrageous considering the area. One of my missions in life to try every coffee shop - whether it be a chain, local, or mom&pop. So I was excited to finally have this staple near me! I ordered an iced latte (my go-to drink or cold brew) & husband got the matcha. We enjoyed our drinks on the go. They have self-service machines to order from and you pick up your order at the counter. They also offer dine-in brunch/food options which looked tasty as well - we had just come from lunch and it was busy, so I'll have to come back to see what all the hype is about. They also offer specialty lattes like the "Aussie" which I would also come back to try. Indoor and outdoor seating are available and lots of parking at the Boro in general. My hot almond milk matcha tea was pretty average. The golden latte, cold matcha tea and hot chocolate was pretty average. We also ordered pancakes, some type of egg meal and side of potato wedges. Without going too much into detail, the breakfast was very average and over priced in my opinion. Bluestone Lane is dear to my heart as I had my first taste of their delicious latte back when I used to live in NYC. And my heart leaped with joy when I found out that BL was coming to DC, and then to the Tysons area. Maybe I've been spoiled with a lot of amazing coffees and lattes that when Bluestone finally came to the 'hood, their drinks didn't 'wow' me enough to push myself to go. Although their coffees are decently great, none of the other items on the menu are mind-blowing. What blows my mind is the price tag of all their food items! Typical breakfast/brunch entrees ranges from $14-19, with a bowl of granola & greek yogurt being close to $10; and pastries around $4 per item. If their portions were great, I wouldn't be complaining about the cost too much. However portions are puny and they taste just average. Side Note: 1. Parking is pretty crummy in sense you'll need to park in the nearby garage, and need to ensure you take the ticket with you to the restaurant as you'll need to get it validated. Make sure you park in the right garage, or the validated ticket will not work and may have to pay out of pocket *ouch* (park at the garage closest one to BL...). 2. Outdoor seating is available although there are limited seating. And yes, very tight, limited seating inside the restaurant as well. I went a few times during weekday mornings, and I didn't have problems with finding a table. I do not think this will be the case on a weekend morning though. 3. To-go option is available and can order online or through their app. Signing up for their app does get you some deals (e.g. $2 off flats...). 4. Their collective granola with greek yogurt has lemon curd on it, and that's pretty delicious! Price: $$$ (for what it is and puny portions) read more
