Great attention given to us when we came in. We felt warmly welcomed. Disappointed that we didn't have a completely firm diagnosis, although I'm sure that the one given was correct. Very pricey, but it would be at a human ER too. UPDATE: after bringing our cat back in when she didn't improve after an asthma diagnosis, Dr. Schmidt quickly took action to find out what was ailing our kitty. We were heartbroken to learn she had a malignant form of cancer. Dr. Schmidt was very kind in talking with us about our limited options in our emotional state. He helped us navigate the euthanasia process and had the best bedside manner. He was clearly born to be a vet and we would want to use him in the future for any vet specialist treatment. Just like many things in life, you get what you pay for. I rushed my sch noodle here after receiving news from my local vet that she had a blood disease. She ended up with a diagnosis of Evans syndrome. Dr. Stone was my primary doctor here, but there were a few others that were good. My dog had to have 6 blood transfusions and stayed there for 12 days. It is a miracle that she is a live, and I know, without a doubt, she would not be here today if it wasn't for this place. The staff were good to my dog, even played her music (Taylor Swift) while she got all of her treatments. This process was very emotional and there were a lot of carrying individuals here. My price tag was $7,000.00 yea.. you read that right. I am a teacher, so this was high, but I would pay it again tomorrow! Don't take the cheap way out. read more

My little dog re-injured his back, he has disk disease and of course it happens after 6pm. I couldn't leave the little dude weeping in pain so I called my primary vet... well they were no help. Well luckily this place was less than 15 miles from my house and was able to see my dog right away. They fixed him up and got him out of pain right away. Everyone is really pleasant and the doctor we saw, Kathryn was very helpful and informative regarding his prognosis. Also I felt it was reasonably priced for an emergency visit. read more

This is our second visit to this clinic; the first since their name changed to BluePearl Veterinary Partners. Service was great - everyone was friendly and they were quick to diagnose Tigger's issue. Dr. Nathan Bodnar was very professional, asked lots of questions and assessed the situation. Prepared medicine and sent us on our way. Would highly recommend. I give this place ONE star ONLY because the dr and her technician were very nice and caring. The front officer manager was very snotty and NO compassion at all! I just left there after having to put my 17 year old peke to sleep! What they charge is absolutely outrageous! I WILL not return! I have had a great experience working with Dr. Parsons in Oncology at NHVS in Spring. My dog has large cell lymphoma and we were sent to Dr. Parsons for chemotherapy. Dr. Parsons is compassionate and caring and like us only interested in the best quality of life for her. We have enjoyed working with Dr. Parsons, Mary and Tina. Everyone has been kind, compassionate and caring. They have answered all of our questions and returned all calls. I am surprised at the number of bad reviews I am seeing because this has not been our experience at NHVS at all. Yes it is expensive but we expected that and were given the price up front. It is equivalent to what I have paid to specialists in the past. read more

I took my kitty to NHVS in early March when he developed sudden lameness in his hind legs. The veterinary staff was kind and compassionate and did what they could to make him (and me) as comfortable as possible in his final hours. Dr. DiCello was great under these difficult circumstances. I can't recommend this place enough. Our cat was hit with a urinary blockage that almost killed him, and NHVS was the only place we could find open. The doctors were excellent and saved his life. The staff became like family during his stay, and were always courteous and sympathetic. The bill was scary, but through one of the employees, Allison, I discovered PetChance.org and was able to cover the expensive medical treatments. Without her and the rest of NHVS my daughter would have lost her kitty. They're amazing in every way. If you need emergency medical care for a family pet this is definitely the one. read more

We were recently referred to NHVS, to take our special needs puppy who had hydrocephalus. All of the staff was friendly, nice, caring, and very compassionate. They were absolutely wonderful throughout the whole experince. They made a very scary, and sad time for us and our puppy as comfortable as it could possibly be. Very money hungry. I would use this place as a serious last resort. We took our girl into Blue Pearl for mastitis. After a very expensive visit they sent us home with antibiotics that ended up not working and a few days later the abscess on her stomach burst completely open. I understand this happens sometimes, but the woman I spoke to on the phone basically told us that it was our fault since we couldn't afford to let them take a culture of the bacteria a few days before. Then they bandaged her up and sent her home telling us to be careful but she was okay. I specifically asked if she should be walking around, they said it was absolutely fine. As soon as we set her on the ground at our house she walked right out of her bandages. We did not even get her in the door before they literally fell right off of her. But because the same doctor had apparently left by the time we got her back to the clinic, the new doctor wouldn't change them without charging us another $70. I tried to explain the whole situation and offered to bring the bandages that were obviously put on poorly. Money seems to be more important to this clinic than the actual patients they're treating. read more

We brought my dog to Blue Pearl after a pretty savage attack. I was involved myself so was taken to the people ER while my dog was taken to Blue Pearl. From what my friend told me, she started yelling "EMERGENCY" as soon as she got out of the car when she arrived , and the staff ran outside to grab my dog. They rushed him inside and within about 5 minutes they called her (she had to wait outside due to Covid) and told her of his injuries. His neck had been degloved, trachea punctured, ear was hanging, multiple other bites. The first night, there was a lot of back and forth, and we were given best/worst case scenarios, which did include the costs of all options. They were very communicative from the beginning and we always felt that our dog was being taken care of. We spoke with the vets daily, sometimes multiple times, got pictures and updates from the staff throughout the day and they were always available to answer any questions. My dog spent 6 days at Blue Pearl and then he was released to us to then have his normal vet provide care. Without the care and expertise of Blue Pearl those first days, I don't think my dog would be here today so I'm very grateful to them. read more

IF I COULD I WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE THEM ONE STAR! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU LOVE YOUR FUR BABY DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Our precious baby of 4 years, who we rescued at 3 months from locked in a cage, beaten, starved and abused, suddenly had a seizure. We rushed her to our vet who overdosed her on diazepam and before checking her blood work. Her glucose was almost non-existent and he administered glucose and she stopped seizing. But was comatose from all the diazepam. There is medication to reverse the overdose but he did not use it and packed us off to Blue Pearl in Spring. We arrived at 6:00 pm and all the specialists were gone for the day. They would have to keep her overnight. They said we had to give them $2,000.00 to keep her. We immediately paid the money. They had us sign some paperwork and asked about a DNR. We stated we wanted everything done to keep her alive until she saw a specialist the next morning. If she had cancer and would have to go through hell in treatment we would not want that for her. She had already suffered. We would not want her to live out her life with horrible treatments and seizures. BUT GIVE HER FULL CARE UNTIL A DIAGNOSIS WAS MADE !!! They sent us into a small room called triage. She was in a cage on the floor. No doctor was treating her and I sat down on the floor and reached in and petted her. She was stiff as a board, and unconscious. We stayed there for awhile and finally a technician/nurse came in. I asked what they were doing for her. She didn't answer but hung an IV bottle and inserted it into her catheter. She then started giving her injections. The first one I asked her what it was for. She said to bring down any swelling on her brain. The next one I had to ask again and this is the one that shocked me! It was to reverse the effects of the overdose of diazepam that was given to her by her vet. HOURS AFTER SHE HAD BEEN OVERDOSED. WHY DIDN'T HE GIVE HER THE TREATMENT IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID THE COMA? A minute after this shot was administered she opened her eyes and looked at me. She closed them and opened them again. I was so excited I said to the nurse who was still giving her more shots "look, look she opened her eyes". She didn't comment. I sat there until 7:30 pm. They said they were moving her to ICU and we had to go. It turns out they never moved her. They never treated her and she died at 10:30 pm. I know this because I had called to check on her and at 10:30 the doctor I was talking to said "hold on, she's going south" 2 minutes later she came back and said : "she's dead". So they threw her in a cage and left her to die. They never moved her to ICU. We have reported them to the State Veterinary Board and we will have a meeting with them soon. But nothing will ease this pain and the uncaring treatment by Blue Pearl. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. There are many review board on the internet and there are thousands of horror stories about this place. Will this pain ever stop? They only had her a little over 4 hours and she had been left to die. 4 read more

After reading all of the reviews on Yelp and Google, I had hesitation about bringing our beloved Harley to this facility. But due to concern about her breathing and based on the fact that both of our vets recommended NHVS for emergency treatment we made the decision to bring our feline fur baby here last night. I mean what is one supposed to do when you are frantic and worried that your loved one might not make it through the night? We were seen by Dr. Codee Hurst. She was very friendly, informative, compassionate, and professional. She gave us our options for treatment (conservative or aggressive) and had recommended X-rays first. We agreed and after waiting a while she came back and talked with us about the results. She explained to us in detail, while showing us Harley's X-rays, what the images were and what they showed, which was nothing abnormal. My husband and I really appreciated the time she took in explaining things to us. She said that Harley's vitals were normal and that she didn't find any cause for alarm. But she also stated that if we noticed a decline in her health we should bring her back, This indicated to me that she was more about the well being of my fur baby rather than trying to make a fast buck. I've read some reviews that state that NHVS only wants to take your money and does not care about the well-being of your pet. That has NOT been our experience with the Spring location. Dr. Hurst told us that they could be more aggressive in their diagnostic testing, but recommended that we wait to talk to our regular vet since we have an appt next week, She suggested that we consider having endoscopy to check her throat since they couldn't X-ray that area. She knows our regular vet well and recommended that we ask her to perform the procedure if she thinks it is necessary. I based my rating as follows: 1. Veterinarian - 5 stars 2. Wait - 4 stars - we were there for 3+ hours 3. Stress- 4 stars - this is because they took Harley from me and would not allow me to stay with her while they were triaging her. This was stressful to both me and Harley. 4. Communication - 4 stars - we didn't appreciate being left in the room on our own while waiting for the Dr. to run X-rays nor the time it took to get Harley back. I was already stressed because I didn't have my eyes on her to see how they were handling her. But I do understand how some parents can cause undue stress on both the caretakers and animals without meaning to, so I can forgive them for this discretion. lol Cost was on the high side, but we knew it would be. After all, it is a 24 hour emergency clinic, and, I believe it is fully staffed. I did appreciate that they informed us of the cost of X-rays before they did them. read more

Our baby had a torn ccl and meniscus, requiring surgery. From the first consultation to our final 6 week check in, we felt The Blue Pearl staff were excellent. Dr Hinton was our surgeon and I was very happy with her explanations and willingness to answer questions. She came highly recommended by our regular vet. We had read some reviews that the front desk staff can be somewhat perfunctory but we did not experience that. They were very professional. And the techs are excellent and very kind. I would definitely go to Blue Pearl if necessary and recommend them to others. read more

Up until now I would have given 100 stars for the compassion I thought I was receiving. My old dog I've had for 16 years health declined in the evening. I had called to consult on the phone for pricing and fees for euthanasia, with my sister right next to me listening, because in my head I knew it was likely time. I was informed by 2 staff members, one on the phone and one vet tech when I arrived, that if I were to decide to euthanize my old dog there was no change for an office visit. I went back and fourth between having an exam to prolong my dog being alive so my mom could be there to say goodbye, or not having a full exam and deciding euthanasia to end her suffering. No doctor ever came into the room to discuss the condition of my dog, the prognosis or what even was going on. No doctor ever came in the room to inform me that euthanasia was in fact the best option. I made that decision on my own terms and I made that terrible decision with no guidance of any veterinarian because I knew she was elderly and likely it was time for her to go. I was then charged for a full exam. I feel as though I was taken advantage of in my upset mental state. I didn't realize I was charged until a couple days later after I thought about it and received a detailed receipt after I picked up my cremated dog. In the room I was even told by the vet tech I needed to make a decision on an exam to get her life saving treatment to prolong her life vs no exam with euthanasia. I'm am completely appalled now by the lack of care the veterinarian showed if she even did an "exam". Nothing was discussed with me regarding any "exam". The only time and the first time I met the veterinarian was when she came in the put my poor old dog to sleep. I called to discuss this and the First Lady I spoke with was great and she stated my money would be refunded and then I was called by someone else disputing it stating the vet did a full exam and would not waive the fee. She said "some of our vets do waive the exam fee and some don't, we will be sending out an email to inform our employees to not discuss that" Then I was told the vet could discuss with me the findings of the so called exam....2 weeks after they had already put my dog to sleep! I informed them I wanted to speak to a manager and was told I would receive a call back. Still haven't heard anything, mind you it's been a couple hours so maybe later I will receive a call. At this point it's not even about money, it's about their morals and honoring their words. It's about charging for things that were never done for someone and their pet in a time of need. I'm absolutely disgusted and will warn people to avoid this place. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!! I would never recommend this place to anyone! On May 29, 2020 at 2:30am my pet had a major medical emergency after being discharged from gulf coast veterinary services the day before. She had gone into respiratory distress and as advised by gulf coast I took her to the nearest emergency hospital, Bluepearl. Gulf Coast even called BluePearl, spoke with Cristina Orta, and let them know I was on my way with a critical case. Upon arrival all doors to the hospital were locked and no employee could be seen anywhere. I knocked, banged and screamed at all possible doors, as I knew my pet need emergency care and oxygen if she had any chance of survival. I finally was able to get someone's attention at one of the furthest doors of the hospital. The employee, Sarah, looked at me through the door, rolled her eyes at me, through her arms to the side in what seemed like frustration. She casually walked towards me, obviously seeing my distress, and told me to go all the way across the front of the building again to the main doors. Once I made it back to the main doors they were still locked and not a soul in sight. In the darkness of the night and through my emotions I was able to find the tiny, unnoticeable door bell off the the side of the building. Finally after what seemed like forever the receptionist, Beto, opened the doors and grabbed my baby from me and rushed her to the back. I followed him into the hospital waiting area. After about 10 minutes Dr. Harvey, who was the only good thing about this place, showing a heart of compassion, came out from the back and explained to me that my baby was not going to make it. All my baby had needed was oxygen and treatment to be administered in a timely matter, something that an adequate emergency clinic should be capable of doing. Had they provided the care that they advertise to give perhaps my baby would still be with me. The employees of this hospital showed no urgency to help my pet. Once it was all done I was handed my beloved pet in a cardboard coffin and a $600 bill. read more

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! I took my 11 year old Pamarian in here on 1/18/18 approximately 6:30 pm. She was seen right away. The vet (Dr. Sykes) was encouraging, and said that they were going to put her in a oxygen tent and do x-rays once she was stable. They said I needed to leave her over night and that they would call to update me regularly on how she was doing. They did not, I had to call every time. When I did call, they made feel like I was bothering them to get status. They called me about 10:30 am on Friday, 1/19/18 and said that Chloe was doing well enough to take home, and that they would be sending her home with some meds, and I could come and pick her up. I got home with Chloe about 11:15 am and by 2:30 I was on my way to my vet as she was exactly back where she was when I took her to BluePearl the night before. By 3:40 pm on 1/19/18 my baby was gone, I had to put her to sleep. I cannot tell you how many times I stressed to BluePearl that I did not want Chloe to suffer, I didn't want her to be uncomfortable. I knew she had a collapsed trachea and had for 5+ years, yet they encouraged me by saying she just needed meds and to be in the oxygen tent. Took almost $1,000 for me after I told them I really couldn't afford more than $500, and to please don't let her suffer. It was the worst experience that I have ever had with a vet/pet hospital. Here it is 5 days later and I still cannot make it thought a day without crying! She was my bestfriend, and they let her sit in an oxygen tent alone for 12+ hours on the last night of her life! That is letting a dog suffer in my books! They should have known that she was suffering and that she was not comfortable. They certainly knew I was a mess and they took advantage of a pet owners love for their pet! Please please please go anywhere other than here, if you want to make a donation somewhere, I am sure that you can find a better place than her to take you beloved pet! read more

I was referred here by my primary vet when my cat was run over. I called when I was on my way & they were ready for us. He was immediately taken for triage/assessment. They thoroughly explained his injuries (which were severe) & possible treatments/surgeries. Ultimately, we made the decision to put him down. That was an awful experience for my family, but I was impressed with the staff. All of the staff I encountered from the reception area to the techs & vets, were caring & compassionate with our cat & our family. It wasn't cheap, but it also wasn't unreasonable. I was receiving emergency care for my pet & I was informed along the way of what it might cost. While I hope to not have to come back, if I need another emergency clinic, I will come here. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this hospital !! My little dachshund became suddenly ill , her tummy was rock hard, she had tremors , refused to eat ,drink or even walk. Monday our primary veterinarian told us our dog had an upset stomach/ mild pancreatitis possibly. She gave our dog fluids under skin, pain meds and anti nausea meds then sent her home . Things only got worse later that day and our home vet refused to consider any other possibilities for our little dog's issue and advised us to go to Blue Pearl as her office was closing for the day and we could get an ultrasound there since she felt it may be pancreatitis causing our dog's issue. We went to Blue Pearl and Dr.Clark examined our little dog. She immediately spoke with us and advised she felt that our little dog was exhibiting all the signs of a slipped disc/back injury and not pancreatitis. She advised that if I still wanted the ultrasound , that our home vet sent us to get ,we could do it , but in her opinion she did not feel it was necessary. To cover all bases I did get the ultrasound and the results showed no internal issues and no pancreatitis. Dr Clark was 100 percent correct in her diagnosis. She was very caring to our little dog and kind with us in advising everything that was happening and what pain management our dog would be getting . She even provided tips of how to get our dog to take her medicine "non fat cream cheese" and it worked!! We paid almost as much at our home vet as we did for emergency care at Blue Pearl. We should have just went directly to Blue Pearl and by passed our home vet . Dr Clark did not suggest unnecessary procedures and even advised us that an ultrasound wasn't necessary. I have nothing but great things to say about this emergency hospital and it's staff "especially Dr. Clark". We have four dogs and if we ever need emergency or specialty care I will definitely be going to Blue Pearl!!!! read more

After receiving my Care Credit bill I have discovered the bill as increased to $6000.00. At the time I last spoke to NHVS I was told I would be billed for the $2000 the balance over initial $3000 credit card amount would not be placed on the card. Like the other information I received from this institute false. Now my credit account says I am $1000 over credit limit. The experience I have had with NHVS has been the most horrible experience and to add to this financial burden I have lost my beloved pet. I brought my furr-baby to Blue Pearl on an emergency basis. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was not good - prostate cancer. They treated his symptoms and tried to make him comfortable. Every time I called with a question, I received a return call from Dr. Stone or his staff. When the time came to have my baby put to sleep, the staff was so kind and comforting. Dr. Salcetti made the painful heartbreaking process peaceful. I know they loved him as much as I did. read more

They are extremely rude. All of them.. from the doctor (which I condescending) to the "assistants", even the secretary was so rude. I took my dog one night, and when we arrived at the vet, my husband went in to ask them for something to put my dog in so that we could roll him in (he couldn't even walk) it took them like 5-7 minutes to get a roll away table out for us. (We asked them for it a second time bc there were two girls just sitting in the front, not trying to hurry at all. The lady at the front (a blonde lady) was very rude at first, then she got a bit more friendly after I began being rude with my responses. All I wanted her to do is EXPLAIN what I was signing! I don't know where to even begin with the doctor. She was condescending, and she acted like we just did not care about our dog (which couldn't be further from the truth) because I was ASKING questions! We signed up for care credit to pay for surgery for my dog. Sadly, he didn't even make it to surgery, because his vitals were too low. We went back to see our dog before he was supposed to go in for surgery, and he was just lying there! they weren't doing anything!! nothing at all to help him feel comfortable!! His heart gave out, so he didn't even make it to surgery. We were so heart broken. Then, we get a bill For $4000.00. They didn't do anything! They only care about money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE do your research, and take your pet somewhere else!!! I'm a hugeeeeeeeeeee animal lover, and I'm asking you to please take your pet somewhere else, it could save their life! read more

My almost 17 year-old dog had a parathyroidectomy at Blue Pearl back in April. The hospital was clean and had an efficient check-in process. The anesthesoligist called me as soon as my dog was wheeled into surgery and gave me a very detailed update which I appreciated. The night vet techs, Taylor and Courtney, we're incredibly patient with me and answered all my questions. They were wonderful. The procedure was expensive ($3,000) but it improved the quality and length of my dog's life. I priced shopped before committing to Blue Pearl for this procedure, Blue Pearl was less expensive than Texas A&M, Gulf Coast Vet Specialists and several other vet schools in the region (much to my surprise). It was a positive experience overall but I found two things frustrating..1. I was not made aware that Blue Pearl typically doesn't discharge pets on Sundays so plan for your dog to be there an extra day if their surgery falls in a Friday 2. I was not called as promised with my dog's pathology results a week later. I also found that on quite a few occasions throughout the past year, I would call and leave a message for my dog's primary doctor at BluePearl and my call wouldn't be returned at all or if it was, it would be several days later. If my dog needs surgery in the future, I would definitely bring him back to Blue Pearl. read more

I would recommend to stay away from this hospital if you looking for an affordable care. I brought my puppy in and was told he would need to stay over night and it would cost $1250 a night. They could t give me a estimate on how long he would need to stay either. I was also waiting over an hour just to be seen. read more

My dog started limping one day. Few days later he started dragging his hind legs. I took him to the vet and they gave him pain and anti inflammatory medicine saying he had a herniated disc. Days later on the medicine he never got better so I called the vet and they referred me to here. Had an appointment at 11:30am was not seen until 1:30pm they took my dog back and left me in the exam room then 30 mins later while patiently waiting for his x-ray results Dr had to rush out to help another dog who was injured. All he said was to leave him there and he will call me with the results that way if surgery is needed they can prep and start immediately if not I can pick him up anytime because they are open 24 hours. Later on that day I received a call from the Dr saying he has patellar luxation (dislocated kneecap) Dr said he does not believe he has a herniated disc because he doesn't show any signs of neurological issues. He told me to think about if I wanted to do surgery to fix his knee and call him back. I was never even shown the xray to prove what he was saying was true so comes 7pm I called and said I will be picking up my dog. The receptionist told me I'm not allowed to because it's too late when the doctor clearly told me I can pick up my dog anytime because it's a 24 hour hospital! Left him there overnight then called first thing in the morning saying I'm coming to pick him up now and they told me I had to come between 11-1 or 3-5 that's ridiculous! When I picked up my dog they gave seizure medicine. My dog never had a seizure before so I asked why he needed it. They told me just in case because he had neurological issues. Does anyone here know what they're talking about?? Doctor told me he didn't show any signs of neurological issues now you're prescribing him this? They've been giving him medicine throughout the night but never informed me of what they were giving him. When I picked him up he was incoherent. Didn't move or acknowledge me. Just laid in his bed that I brought him in. We got home at 630pm he did not move until 4am when he did finally move he cried all the way until morning time when he finally passed away. How do you die from a dislocated knee? Did he receive too much medication causing him to die? He is only 4lbs. Not trying to point fingers but it does seem suspicious don't you think? Bottom line I wish I never came here. I wish I read reviews before coming. Even if they did not cause my dog to die I still would never come back because of how unprofessional this entire place was from beginning to end. If you love your pet do not come here! I found it interesting that the $40 medication that was the cure for my dogs bowel obstruction came with a $1,050 bill to establish what was actually wrong, though I was never told what the name of the condition was. The reason I give them a 1-star is because of their lack of communication and un-knowledgeable staff. On four separate occasions over two days they said they would be performing an examination and would call with results shortly, and on four occasions I was forced to call them to get updates. Twice the exam hadn't even occurred (8 hours after they said it would). The answers they gave over the phone were of no help what-so-ever; they could confirm (or not) that the exam happened, but not what was determined. I got a lot of "He's fine. He hasn't thrown up." and "He's sleeping." The only time I got to speak with a doctor all he did was read the notes that a different doctor had written. He couldn't answer my questions because he wasn't the person who had examined the dog (the other doctor had left without calling me to update). When I finally picked up my dog, the technician who explained the bill couldn't explain all of the charges (you know how doctors use abbreviations and code numbers) nor could she say what the actual cause of the bowel obstruction was. I asked her for a diagnosis and she gave be a blank stare, then said, "Don't worry, this medication will help. And keep him on a bland diet for the next few days." "What do you mean by bland?" "You know, canned chicken. Maybe mixed with rice." "So, canned food?" "Yeah. But you can use dry food too, that's ok." A wonderful explanation for taking care of my dog who is sick with a disease you can't name. Additionally, the CD they gave me with the x-rays and ultra sounds they took has files without extensions. They charged $168 for this CD which has files that can't be opened on a home computer. The next time I have an emergency with my pet, I think I'll just stay with my normal vet. read more

Bandage placed on my dog post surgery didn't even hold up through the car ride home. After care instructions were curt and not even done with dog in the same room. Little compassion shown from any of the staff. Their prices are high and I also had to pay my local vet to fix the bandaging and to clean up the area. Called to discuss problems with the manager and am still waiting for call back. read more

Customer service is awful. I arrived at 7:30 with my dog who wouldn't walk, open his eyes and we're completely green from what I could see and had severe inflammation on his chest. They took him in the back and stuck me in a room. After waiting 2 hours and not having a single person communicate anything to me I asked the front desk what was going ion. I was told they would see him in 15 mins. 45 mins later still nothing. I asked again they said he was getting evaluated right then. Another 45 mins with no update. Asked again and was told they were getting ready to look at him although they said 45 mins prior to that he was already being looked at. Didn't see vet for another 30 mins. She came in and said he looked like he had been bitten by a bunch of ants so she just skipped over him and moved on which is why I waited so long. Was then told they would do an eye test and have meds ready in 30 mins. an hour later, nothing. I asked about it and they were just starting the eye test so I would have to wait another 30 mins. It was 45 mins before we actually got to leave. I understand it's an ER so you might have to wait awhile however, they could have communicated to me what was taking so long. Also, they shouldn't have just kept saying 15 mins. They 2 ladies at the front desk were sitting there just chatting away playing on their phones and seemed very annoyed when I would ask for some type of update. Do not go here. This is the worst place I have ever been to as far as vets go. They are completely heartless. I would give it zero stars if that was an option. I took my cat there because I was recommended to take my cat to a 24 hour facility where he could be monitored. He was treated for a urinary blockage and needed to have someone watch him 24/7 because he had a catheter in him. I would have just kept him at the other vet but they did not provide 24 hour care. First I was rudely given a paper that said that I would be charged at least a $115 fee for the doctors evaluation even though I just brought him in from my other vet. My other vet did all the necessary tests and evaluations and I even provided them with the x-Rays and the blood work from the other vet that I had done that day. All I wanted was for them to keep him there overnight to watch him and make sure his catheter didn't come out. Then after waiting for awhile, the vet finally saw us and was so rude and talked at us like we were idiots using a bunch of medical jargon that we didn't understand. If I was a vet and I understood what she was talking about I wouldn't have needed to be there in the first place. We brought X-rays that we got from the other vet and the vet didn't even look at them but was telling us that our cat probably had cancer and trying to squeeze more money out of us for more tests. However we were only there for them to look after him for the night. Then we tried to get a price from them and that was ridiculous. They were just pulling numbers out of thin air. When I said that I couldn't afford it they said well the other vet spoke to your vet and told him how expensive this was going to be even though that never happened. I even called before I took my animal there and they said that in order to find out a price you have to come in. Anyways we finally agreed on having my animal stay there and then they said they would take good care of him. The next morning they called me and informed me that his catheter came out and in order to reinsert it, it would cost me $600-$800. I was so upset and mad because that is the whole reason we paid so much money for him to stay there overnight so they would watch him and make sure his catheter didn't come out. At that point, I had to make the gut wrenching decision to put my animal down. The hard lesson learned was do not take your pet here because I don't believe they provide good care and they are ridiculously expensive. read more

I was very disappointing in my experience at this facility. As far as the actual doctor that treated my dog goes, she was amazing! However the customer service of this place was the worst experience I have ever had. There was a tech helping with my dog, her name was LORI. Her "beside manner" was completely offensive. She not only was offensive to me personally but to the person I was with as well. I am obviously there because my dog needs aid, I am obviously there because I am scared and concerned for my dog. Sensitivity and compassion are definitely expected in any doctors office. I do believe there is a way to approach the situation and not only be there for the pet but for the owner as well. I have never given a review to anywhere before, but I felt people should know. read more

It's the only game in town if you feel you have an emergency and don't know where else to go. So they have you by the you-know-whats. I didn't really even mind spending the initial $115 just to see a dr. But after sitting around for 3.5 hours and talking to a vet twice for no more than 5 minutes total, and they couldn't tell me what was wrong with my cat, then charging $467, I'll NEVER take a pet back to them unless i absolutely have to. I will be sure to ask my vet tomorrow who they can recommend other than this place. And as others have said, the front staff wasn't very helpful or friendly. They weren't very busy either and there was no excuse for taking as long as it did for no information. read more

My dog was having vomiting & diarrhea with copious amounts of blood. I took her to my vet & they said they couldn't get to her til 11am( it was 7am) I left her there as I knew she needed IV fluids. At 4 pm on Friday my vet called to say they were closing at 6 & I needed to take her to a 24 hr hospital. I had prior experience with the Vet Hospital in Humble wanting to charge outrageous fees so a friend said BluePearl was good. She was there from Friday night to Sunday and I consented to labs and an ultrasound. For all the tests, exams, meds, IV fluids and 24 hour care my bill was $1700. I know they saved her life. I feel that was reasonable for what they did. 5 years ago at the other hospital quoted me $500 for a CBC (a simple blood test) & $1500 for an overnight stay. My vet had warned me about their prices. I highly recommend BluePearl. They informed me of best & worst case scenarios & the prices of each. read more

Our boxer, Razzle, has been to NHVS twice in two years, for two different torn-ACL surgeries. Both times, her surgeon has been Dr. Laura Hinton. We cannot say enough about the excellent service, exceptional veterinary-speciality expertise, and honest, straightforward care we have received. I completely understand the cost issue for many people, but the bottom line is that veterinary medicine has become almost as specialized as medical care for humans, and the end result of that is increased cost. BUT, we are fortunate that we have this level of specialized care available to us, including 24/7 emergency options. Again, it's not cheap, but there are payment plans available, and while we were able to afford the cost, we witnessed others who could not and also found the staff to be compassionate and more than willing to work with people to ensure their pets could get the care they needed. I would also strongly recommend Dr. Hinton. She is 100% dedicated to her patients and their owners, even willing to email and call after hours to provide updates and discuss options. She was honest, took whatever time was needed to explain and re-explain situations and solutions, and truly seemed to care about us and our dog. I know a lot of people think going to A&M is the best option possible, but we have the same level of expert, compassionate care right here in our own neighborhood. Dr. Hinton was clearly up to speed on all the latest research being done at A&M and obviously spends a ton of time ensuring she is giving her patients the best care possible. In six weeks we will take Razzle back for her 8-week "signoff" checkup -- and while we can't wait for that date when Razzle will be back to her very active self again, we will miss Dr. Hinton. It's rare to find a vet with all the right qualities and expertise. read more

First off I recommend you look at the reviews on google as well! These reviews are from 2012 and googles are from the past year with much lower scores. I am only giving this group a 2 star because my personal vet whom I love suggested this place. I took my pet here after stabilizing them at an urgent care clinic...all they had to do was monitor him and update me and that appeared to be too difficult for them. I understand I'm not the only patient there but when I'm paying you good money the least I would expect is some communication. My updates were only when I would call and very generic at best..."he is fine. Putting out urine and poor intake" when asked for further information like if they repeated his kidney function since that is why he is there I would get conflicting data. Hope they treat their other customers better but pay attention to the reviews here....they got a poor score for a reason :( read more
