Very professional and knowledgeable group! Dr. Ray was absolutely wonderful and explained all our options. She took her time and made us feel comfortable and confident with her diagnosis. My dog had a bowel obstruction that our previous vet did not see or diagnose. Dr. Ray quickly got her in for surgery that day! The communication with the vet and office during and after the procedure was great as well! Most importantly they really seemed to care about my pup. Highly recommend this vet!

My dogs are accustomed to being around, just our family and don't always be friend new people readily. They immediately took to the owner, Brian. Our dogs are on a diet where they have a mixture of dry and wet food that require refrigeration or freezing. That was no problem at all for the owner to accommodate. The fellas looked well cared for when my son picked them up! My son forgot to check for the dogs blankets when he picked them up and Brian kindly drove them down to the city where we live so that the dogs would have them. I will definitely use Hicks Farm again and I highly recommend them!

Before she went, I'd worked with her on sit, down, take it, leave it, and some spins with decent success. Brian took what she had and built on it, adding heel, come when called, turn, and stay. He returned a noticeably different dog. When we hit some bumps shortly after, he came back out and spent a solid hour with me going over what was actually happening...not just commands and corrections, but why she was behaving the way she was and what she needed from me to feel secure. (Spoiler: she needed me to be more confident and consistent.) He has a way of cutting straight to what matters without overcomplicating it, and more than once he said exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment. What struck me most across both experiences was how much genuine wisdom he brings to his work. He's clearly someone who has learned his craft through deep experience and observation, and it shows in every interaction with the dog and with the owner. On top of all of that, his pricing was incredibly reasonable; boarding and training combined for what many trainers charge for training alone. We felt genuinely taken care of. Kind, patient, perceptive, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.

Our dogs were always healthy and well mannered with great temperaments. We took them to Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Venezuela and everywhere people were in awe of their presence. Our Maximillian's Lucky Summer won first place in a local dog show in Villahermosa Mexico. We were in town and at the mall, some promoters were there and saw him.. They wanted him in the show for promotional purposes only but MAX stole the show. If I was not in my late 70's I who do it again.

Shortly after we brought our boy home, I took him to our vet for a thorough physical. The vet said, "Did Heidelberg inform you that this dog has cryptorchidism? Did they tell you that one testicle has not descended?" (This was a three-year-old dog, not a puppy.) No, they didn't tell us. We were already attached to our boy, so despite this potentially dangerous (to the dog) condition, we kept him. Also, when we boarded our dog at Heidelberg, we requested that he be given his twice-daily medicine for IBS. He was not given his med and had severe diarrhea for a week after we brought him home. In addition, when we were in the office paying for the week of boarding, we saw a young male worker in a pen strike a young female pup hard on the muzzle for no reason. The manager saw what happened but ignored the abuse until my husband told him, "That guy just hit that dog!," whereupon the manager jumped up and pretended to scold the worker. I strongly suggest that anyone who considers buying or boarding a dog here Google "Heidelberg German Shepherds." What you'll find is sobering, in regard to breeding, health problems, ill-tended dogs, and outright injured dogs who had the misfortune to be boarded here. I notice also that many of the superlative reviews use the same language tone, diction, vocabulary, and even initial caps as each other. Judge for yourselves.

My pup's cut was nice, they did decent and what was expected for when he had matts or when I decided to groom him myself (which went poorly). I was prepared for anything since the front desk couldn't give me clear answers of how he was going to look every time I took him. My puppy is low maintenance, no health or allergy issues so far. He still looked cute when we picked him up. They also did good with our family's late senior dog. But my sister's puppy has a lot of special needs. Her care was handled quite poorly and looked nothing like herself. Honestly, after seeing the owner's response to her review, I'm not sure this place can accommodate all kinds of dogs. They seem pretty firm on the one sort of cut they offer, if you have specific expectations it might be difficult for them to meet. One visit should be enough to tell if it's right for your dog and make sure to trust your first gut instinct! Edit: Hi Monica, thanks for taking the time to respond! I hope your business also takes the time to consider good faith feedback. I'm glad that Chixie has cared for lots of different dogs, we just didn't see that reflected with my sister's. We encourage future clients to ask lots of clarifying questions before booking. While every groomer is different, attending customer needs is standard for any business, so there's plenty of options in Houston, but thanks for the well wishes!

Blaming me for your poor work and service is atrocious. It's not a personal attack it's directly related to your service that negatively impacted my dogs grooming. The fact that you're being defensive just shows how terrible this business is. It's so disappointing to see considering how loyal my family was to this business for YEARS. I will gladly accept the before pictures, you have my number. It's rich that you keep saying that yall care about my pets safety, yet yall clearly know nothing about dogs with double coat. "Your dog's coat actually acts as an insulator," explains Dr. Jerry Klein, Chief Veterinary Officer for the AKC. "Shaving that coat to reduce shedding or supposedly to keep the dog cool also eliminates that insulating layer of fur, makes the dog susceptible to heat stroke, and can result in improper hair growth and the possibility of follicle damage. A dog's fur coat protects him from sunburn and decreases his risk of developing skin cancer." I already told yall my dog has skin issues and when I brought her in November I also told yall she was having a hard time growing fur. Shes been whining and scratching more since her grooming. Even my vet said this cut increases irritation. Maybe you should reflect on your defensiveness, practice your dog grooming skills and work on your business ethics. The unprofessionalism is truly appalling.
