My Family Vet has cared for our sweet Gucci for all 15 years of his life. They have always treated us with kindness and professionalism. When it was time to let her go, their compassion was beyond anything we could have hoped for. The staff and doctors were gentle, patient, and truly caring during one of the hardest moments of our lives. They placed us in a serene, peaceful room filled with warmth and love. It was a space where we knew Gucci felt safe and comforted. Their tenderness made an unbearable time a little easier. We will forever be grateful for the dignity and love they showed her. My Family Vet is more than a veterinary clinic; we consider them as part of our family. read more

I've come here for over 5 years now and I just don't think I'll ever get over how much better they are. They dont try and take your money unnecessarily, they care about your dogs and do their best to communicate at all hours for anything. I love My Family Vet and we will continue coming here as long as we are in the Houston area. Thank you so much guys! read more

I took both my dogs there for sometime. They are nice enough, but are way over priced. If you go, make appointments with the Vet Tech as much as possible. Going to the Vet Tech is cheaper. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this veterinary office, especially Nurse Audrey. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel so comfortable and cared for. She was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough--taking the time to answer every single question I had and making sure my pet (and I!) felt at ease. Audrey went above and beyond to explain what was happening step by step, which really helped take away any anxiety. It's so clear how much she truly cares about both her patients and their owners. My dog is occasionally aggressive when it comes to vets (mainly due to some unfortunate vets before) but Audrey was so sweet with her and when my dog (Belle) was done Audrey called me very quickly to let me know it all went great! Needless to say the communication with Audrey was amazing!! Finding a vet office with staff who genuinely love what they do is priceless, and Audrey is the perfect example of that. I left feeling confident, reassured, and very grateful. Thank you, Audrey, for making the experience such a positive one--we are so lucky to have you! read more

Just moved to the area and needed to get a quote for teeth cleaning. All vets require a checkup in order to evaluate the dog to give a correct quote. $65 not to bad, most vets charge the same. The location is great and is a large bldg compared to most vets I have used over the years. Plenty of staff and very friendly and helpful. The vet that helped me was young (she stated mid/late 20's) which is great to see as compared to one ready to retire. Recommend for sure. read more

This place is great! My aunt and husband have been bringing their pets here longer than I have, but the last 10 years I've experienced taking them here, they are great. They really do treat your pets like family, and are so caring regardless of it being a yearly checkup or something as difficult as putting your pet down. They even are extra sweet and send you a lovely card after losing your pet that includes a little thing you can plant. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I never seem to be able to come here without spending $300 dollars! So, it's not a bargain place for sure. But if you want quality care, this is the place to bring your pet! read more

The front office and veterinary staff were helpful, diligent and welcoming. My dog was calm and happy.

I had given up hope. He got into the trash and ate something he shouldn't. I couldn't afford surgery, and I thought for sure my pup was done for and needed to be put down, but she took a look at him and suggested subcutaneous fluids and lots of exercise for the next 24 hours, and I'll be damned if he didn't work its way out and he is back to his old ways. She gave me more time with my buddy. read more

I'm updating my review. This place has gotten super expensive. Almost $500 for yearly shots and a check up. They also missed my dog's heart problems after I asked repeatedly for them to look at it. This resulted in a trip to Blue Pearl in the middle of the night. We shopped around and found better service for less money. read more

**DO NOT GO HERE** After leaving my previous review regarding owner/vet Dr. Clara Scott calling my place of business, instead of calling my cell phone number, and leaving a complaint about a situation that I had nothing to do with and was completely inaccurate, she dared to respond and lie and say that my cell phone voicemail box is not set up and that my broker's main office number is on file with their clinic because "I provided that number on the new client paperwork I filled out." I have attached a picture of my missed calls. While she did attempt to make a call on 3/17/2021 at 9:04 am, that was only to my office and not to my cell phone. That can be seen as "Iconic Incoming", which is what happens when a call to the office is made and it is forwarded to my cell phone. She made no attempt to call my cell phone. I am a business professional and can assure you my voicemail box is always active, so that I may receive voicemails from MY CLIENTS. I received multiple voicemails on Wednesday 3/17/2021. I have attached a photo of my voicemail box for reference. I also would not have provided my broker's main office line for absolutely any reason because I act on her behalf and have my phone number for the business. I also did not work under their office, until recently, so I would have not provided any of my new office's information to the clinic when I first started going to them almost 1.5 years ago. Reviews can hurt a business, but lying only makes it worse. **DO NOT GO HERE** read more

I took my kitty in for his second set of shots after getting him. First set of shots was done by his breeder. Upon arrival, I was not greeted by the front staff and ignored. The vet tech came out and got me. She was very sweet . I proceeded to show the vet tec the shot records. She left the room and came back with a Vet and the shots. The vet unfortunately had no prior knowledge of Maine coons .They were very sweet, but gave him the incorrect shots. I then checked out with the extremely rude front staff and left. My kitten ended up getting sick that night. I definitely will not be back. I've heard really great things about this vet, and have been one of their time with a sick dog. But I will not risk my pets health with a staff that just honestly doesn't know what they're doing. I do believe they owe me my $150 for two shots that were incorrect back. read more

Horrific experience with My Family Vet. He was more than family. We found each other at the perfect time. His original owner was in the army so his mom was caring for Rocky. The mom was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and her home was being foreclosed on. She wanted Rocky (100lb Anatolian mix) to go to a good home. I don't want to go into details but my young son and I needed him so we could feel safe again. He did that for us!!! We got him March 1, 2012. We had to say good bye on June 30, 2023. Not wanting to drive to his normal vet 35 minutes away sobbing, I looked for local recommendations that had a nice euthanasia room. They asked if we wanted mass cremation or if we wanted him returned. We said we wanted him back. My son picked out his urn (a wood box with his name on it). We paid for everything. My boyfriend picked up my baby from My Family Vet yesterday evening. Today he opened the box only to find a paw print. He called My Family Vet and they said somehow my Rocky got marked as mass cremation!!!! I'm not getting him back. We are heartbroken! read more

I was visiting family and this was the nearest vet, so when I realized that I had forgotten my furry baby's heartworm pill that he was due for, I called them. I explained that I am from out of town, visiting family nearby; I have all of my furry baby's records, and would like to purchase a single heartworm pill. They were not accommodating. I was told that the records don't matter and that I/my furry baby must be a client there, and they must do a full work up. I understood that is their policy. Fine. Then why bother having records?! I get it: $. But due to the hurried and impatient tone of reception and the lack of reasonable accomodation, I paid the absurd price of a single heartworm pill from a different and reputable vet office that respects paperwork (can confirm with my regular vet office if desired), and is willing to help travelers like us. Do not recommend. read more

The level of incompetency at this place today was astounding!! I went a few weeks ago to pick up the med for my dog...they only let me pick up 3 months worth bc she needed to have her annual body exam, they told me to schedule it for today so I did. I went to my family vet today and the tech comes in saying she could do the full body exam but I can't leave with the full year of my dogs medicine...so I personally chose to not do the body exam (it didn't make sense to me to do it and still not leave with the full year) I leave very upset and I chose to call the place back so I can talk to the manager she was very helpful...I explained to her my confusion and frustration she told me she will go talk to the tech to see what happened bc I could've left with the full year of medicine. The manager called me back and said the tech did not say that she said bc I chose not to do the full body exam I couldn't get the med bc I chose not to do the body exam..I responded no ma'am not all and you need to correct her and teach her! On top of that with this med if you get a certain amount of it you can turn your receipt in on a website and get a rebate back for it well I asked about that too but apparently you need a card now to earn points! No one of 6 years going there explained that to me!!! It just shows you the complete level of non communication and incompetency that was happening there today! read more

Please bring in someone with some sense! Someone who has compassion for people and the real world. Someone who treats people like people and not wallets. We were not late to our appointment. We waited to approach once I saw another lady with big dogs. We walked right up as soon as she was in the door. I opened the door and TOLD the man we were WAITING for those other pets (strangers to us) to get checked in, so there wasn't a struggle with my dog and theirs. (My dog gets very anxious at the vet. I was trying to prevent a big problem. Thought that would be appreciated). He acknowledged and nodded at me!! After a couple of minutes, I am finally about to walk in, tried to weigh my dog, but she was freaking out and wouldn't let us. After all that, we were taken to the room at 8:04 and told "since you missed your appointment (8:00), if you want to be worked in, there is an extra fee of $90.00" They're considering the 4 minutes my fault. I was there. That was RIDICULOUS. then when I tried to talk to someone about it, because it was just so insane, I thought for sure someone would be able to step in and say that $90 fee wouldn't apply to our situation, nope,, was just met with rudeness and more rudeness. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS GET MY DOG HELP, FROM THE PEOPLE I HAD BEEN ABLE TO TRUST FOR 10 YEARS PRIOR!!!! I had to LEAVE and spent $600 elsewhere the same day!!!! I have two procedures scheduled in the next 2 weeks that I'll be spending 2k on. "My family vet" screwed up beyond belief. I network all throughout this area and have given MANY business cards to this facility. I am now reaching out to the many groomers and rescues to let them know to NEVER RETURN!!! If anyone needs a good vet recommendation, message me and I gotcha! This place IS NOT IT (anymore unfortunately). read more

I so grateful I found this fantastic veterinary practice. They take such good care of my cats Gabriel and Benjamin.

I have been a loyal customer with 3 dogs but something has changed to the worse. The phone system is ridiculous and it is impossible to reach someone. I had an emergency today and they told me to come 2 days from now. After 15 years I realized that there was a revolving door of doctors and several misdiagnosis. I was told that my dog had a torn ACL and when I took him to the animal hospital they said she didn't need surgery. My last visit was for an earache and it cost $350. Which was ridiculous. I am never going back. The level of care used be great but now it is horrible. I would not take any animal to them. Besides price gouging, poor care, and rude receptionist, I give them a ZERO. read more

We had been taking our cats and dogs here since they opened. Over 15 years. About a year ago we brought our kitten in because she had some sort of sickness, My Family Vet filled the wrong medication that was deathly to her condition. She died quickly after we gave her the medication. My sister had called the office and the vet tech spoke to us and said that the medication they gave us was not correct, and that had resulted in our baby's death. We were all very upset because the mistake on their part resulted in the death of our kitten, but we remained as calm as humanely possible. The manager immediately denied everything and would not take responsibility of the situation. She said that we should have checked the medication, even though the bottle had our kittens name on it. My sister stayed calm but argued with this manager because of the irresponsibility and carelessness. We left that day. A few months later one of our other cats had a SECOND episode of deep vein thrombosis. Dr. Scott had gotten our cat through it the first time, which even she said was a miracle. That morning when we found our cat crying and not moving we immediately called My Family Vet because we knew that somehow they got him through it the first time, which was rare to survive this type of thing. They said they would no longer service us because WE verbally attacked their staff (they failed to mention that they caused the death of our kitten). We took our cat to another vet and My Family Vet sent the records over. The new vet said that the file only said what he had, and nothing about what medications or dosage they gave him. He died shortly after. My Family Vet has gone so far downhill, please don't waste your time. 2 dead cats due to disorganization and irresponsibility. read more

We love my family vet. They've helped us with our pets and animals we've rescued for years.

This was not my preferred vet but now they will be forever moving forward. My 1 year old pug started having seizures. I took her to my vet where they didn't take me seriously. We took her here and they determined she needed treatment immediately. They saved her life! And for them, surgery was the last resort and let's get started on how amazing the cost was. They were half the price of my vet and cared 100 times more. We found our people and are so grateful. read more

I think My Family Vet is great! I was referred to them by my son & daughter-in-law, they have been taking care of their pets. Our Maltese/Poodle mix was coughing, gagging and throwing up clear with white stuff. They were able to get us in the next day, which made me feel really good. They were all very nice and made us feel comfortable. The Dr examined our dog Buster and found out it was an infection like we get. He prescribed antibiotics, which we received there. He also recommended I give him 1/4 of an allergy pill that I take. Buster is doing so much better, and I was very impressed that they called to see how he was doing about 3 days after the visit. read more

My dog had a upset stomach for a couple of days, my husband called around for a appointment to get her in. They said they could see her if I got her their by 3:30, the Vet would be leaving for the day. So I rushed over their by 3:30 and after getting in the room I waited another 40 mininutes for a Vet to come in. After checking her out the Vet told me she needed to run some blood work and take a poop sample while I wait. She did tell me the charge ---$182 so I agreed . she said it would take about 15 mininutes. After waiting another 40 mininutes everything was ok. They told me I could take some meds. home for her for a upset stomach for a few days. Again I said ok. After the front checked me out the total was over $300 ?????---WHAT ! Those few meds they gave me was as much as the examine. Why ??? That's crazy. Total Over charge to the Max. Oh well you live and learn. I Won't be going back. read more

I laid my dog Pete down at My Family Vet after 16 years today. He was a very difficult stick and after several attempts the staff asked for assistance. The staff and doctor apologized over and over for how difficult of a time they were having getting IV in. What I want to say is this, thank you! The whole time they remained calm and compassionate! I realize they had other patients to tend to but they made me and my pup feel like we were their only patient. The room was quiet and peaceful. I was encouraged to stay as long as I needed. I have been using My Family Vet since 2005 and have referred numerous friends there over the years. Unfortunately, over the last several years, I have been less than impressed with the care and customer service. It takes forever to get an appointment and I rarely see the same vet twice. What used to be reasonable charges have become ridiculous. I recently called to get a refill on meds that Dr. Scott had always told me to keep on hand and was told they wouldn't fill them without an office visit and the next appointment they had was over a week away. It now seems the dollar takes priority over the pet. As much as I hate to switch, I am now looking for another vet in the area. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! Worst service ever! They say they treat your animals like family but over charge you for products you do not need. The vet even injected my puppy with two shots before telling me what they were, and not to mention they weren't needed, and I paid double the price for it! I knew my dog had worms but it was to early to find in his feces, they still insisted they look which was another 40$ charge that wasn't needed because they didn't find anything, now a month and a half later I find adult round worms in my dogs Feces. This is very upsetting because I did my part as a responsible dog owner and they failed to do their jobs and give my dog treatment, after talking to the manager CAT I was mislead to think the dewormer would be free, I drove 30 minutes just to have to pay 40$ , again for something I could have paid 10$/20$ for anywhere else. If it was heart worm or something more serous, they would be hearing from my lawyer not me. 10/10 worst place you can bring your pet too, they are money hungry and don't care about you or your pet. After 45 minutes I finally asked one of the techs how much longer I would have to wait...she went and checked and said the vet would be in SOON. Another 15-20 minutes went by and I hear the doctor coming down the hall only to have him tell me, I'm sorr, you're being seen by AMY and she should be in SOON! Another few minutes went by and I finally asked a receptionist how much longer I'd have to wait? She came back and said "Doctor would like to do a chest x-ray for $220"!! My dog hasn't even been seen yet, maybe he doesn't need an X-ray! I kept my cool and simply said I'm sorry your to busy to see my dog but I'm not waiting any longer. My Family Vet use to be a great place I have taken all my cats there, but I have had several issues that have arisen and to say disheartening. 1. When the crematorium messed up our urn the receptionist said they could not do anything, the manager Josie went above and beyond and drove to Louisiana to get the one that we originally ordered, but it took us to get up to her to get the issue resolved, that was a plus on the managers part only and to say she did the drive during bad weather. 2. Took our kitten and was told to go to Emergency Room she passed away the following day, what was disheartening we were never told that this might be advised at the time of email and at time of arrival. Positive they did not have us pay for the visit. There was one other situation but that was taken care of, and an apology card was received but my daughter was so distraught that she was in tears when got home. Josie is a wonderful manager, but I am concerned about the staff and how things are handled, there are times when the staff seems like they have an look of they are done and don't really care. read more

I love the setting of this clinic. It's relatively convenient for scheduling and getting in quickly. It can often take a long time to check out though. The vets here seem good, but I don't think they take the time to listen to the pet owners. The main thing here is overpricing. Every visit has been VERY expensive, and I always end up asking them to take off the hundreds of dollars extra added for "additional services." They seem to market to sell here. read more

I have been using My Family Vet for years, they are 5-8 minutes from my home. I consider the care to be very good, however, we rarely see the same Vet more than once or twice and then have a new Vet seeing our pets. We have been with the same Personal Care Physician for 15+ years and we get a lot of satisfaction knowing that our Doctor knows our history and is personally invested with us when we have the need to visit. We no have this connection with our family Vet and are seriously considering seeking a new health provider for our pets, maybe a smaller office that has direct owner/care giver care with whom we can develop a long term association. read more

I'm back reviewing this place and now they've gone too far. We took our 4 month old puppy in in October for her new puppy shots, a package every vet I've ever dealt with provides. To our own fault, we didn't realize that the new puppy package here does not include rabies! They, apparently, sabe that for another visit. I've never heard of this in my life and yesterday, while trying to pull records at Petsmart to get her nails trimmed, we realize that it wasn't part of her initial vacs. This is after 8 phone calls trying to clarify what, in any normal person's mind, must be a mistake. So we go through the grossly misguided and extremely irritating call and get a text back routine only to keep getting the same, "sorry we missed your call, please text us with concerns", response to every text. I finally take my girlfriend's phone and say, "we need a PHONE CALL NOW". Finally, after waiting, we receive a phone call and after explaining I think it's a mistake, I blatantly tell the receptionist that I think they should be ashamed of how they now handle customers and patients and that it's absolutely pathetic! I make a point to tell them this is why they receive more negative reviews than ever before and why we, and others, have since gone to other vets. That this place has become not about the safety and security of our loved ones but more a cash register for the owners. So now fast forward and let's talk about the real screw up. Dr. Clara Scott had the audacity to call my girlfriend's PLACE OF BUSINESS and leave a message that I was verbally abusive to the receptionist, that she knows she works for the community and she does too, and that it was "pretty scary actually" and that she'd like to talk about it. She didn't call her cell phone, which is the main number on the account. She searched for her business number and went out of her way to include them. It was scary that I told them the truth? It was abusive to tell them to be ashamed? And then to, basically, threaten her and leave a message with her place of employment? That is totally unacceptable, totally inappropriate, and slanderous. These people have lost their minds and we have no intentions of ending this with simply a bad yelp review. I concur with a recent review from someone else on yelp. You, ma'am, ARE a liar and now a slanderous one! Update: These are again all lies. My girlfriend is a professional and her mailbox is absolutely set up. Also, she is new with this company and since we had already found new vet care, this vet does not have her work number on file. It was clearly looked for. read more
