Got seated promptly, server came right over for our drink order. They have beer, no liquor. Ordered the seafood combo with shrimp crab cake and catfish. Sides of coleslaw and onion rings. Wife kept it simple with a chicken tender basket. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Large portion of catfish, medium sized shrimp and a decent sized crab cake (which they forgot to put on my plate and I had to ask for). All of it was very good. Chicken tender basket was also good with 5 nice sized pieces. Onion rings were large and cooked properly. Coleslaw was a little dry but still very good. Wife does not recommend the Mac and cheese. Service was terrible...the table was dirty upon arrival. so we stood to wait on someone to come by and wipe it down...there were a minimum of 7 waitresses standing around, passing a ball, or doing nothing. Went on Mother's Day for the first time, had a fantastic experience with the staff, cleanliness, efficiency and flavor of food. The grill was packed but we found a seat and were visited right away to get our orders. Staff were not overwhelmed by being at almost full capacity, and people like me asking questions about the menu etc. Our table never felt rushed or forgotten about. What we really liked: catfish, rooster tacos, onion rings & hush puppies Not our favorite: dirty rice Be prepared when you go, it was fairly loud with everyone and music playing, some of the tables are close and it's likely for you to be bumped against if people are walking near. If you get motion sickness like I do, the restaurant is on the water and bobs frequently with the boat ramp & dock traffic. Most of the seating is bar stools and cocktail tables - so a little higher than you may expect. Looking forward to returning on one of their event nights and checking out their crawfish dish. We talked up this restaurant to my 90 year old mother who walks with a walker. When we got there they only had 1 table for a handicap person. They only had high tables for the rest. Their area right next to it had regular tables. I asked if they would make an exception for us since my mom couldn't get up Nd sit in a bar stool. The manager refused and said if I let one person we have to let everyone. I review with them that no everyone is 90 with a walker. We did not stay because they refused to accommodate handicap or a regular table for mother even though they had them. I went to the restroom before we drove 45 minutes back home without eating. They had one handicap restroom and it was out of order!! Do not go to this restaurant if you are handicapped or elderly unless you can get up and sit on a bar stool. Our server was friendly and helpful We both ordered the catfish. One grilled and one fried I swear, the food was served in 3 minutes. So I know it has been sitting under a heat lamp. Not fresh. We stopped in based on recommendations from our Airbnb host... we weren't too impressed. The view and atmosphere is nice. We spent the day on the lake and rented our boat from the marina there so thought it would be a great place to have our last dinner while we were in Tullahoma. It was not all it was hyped up to be. The catfish was kind of wet in its batter. It would be okay if the fish was super juicy but that didn't seem like what it was. Crab cakes were burnt.. and the crab dip appetizer was a flop. I mean nothing was inedible, but nothing was terrific. This place is obviously here for the on the water experience. I've been here twice this summer, arriving by waverunner both times. Had a crabcake sandwich (good), red beans and rice (very good to excellent) and fried catfish basket (very good). The red beans and rice was more like you'd get at a cajun specialty restaurant than at a typical bar and grill. I got fried okra as a side for my catfish, there was a TON of it. Both times were on weekends at lunch time when it was quite crowded and service was very good. Prices? Food is reasonable for an on-the-water joint, servings are ample. $5 draft beer seems pretty good when you live in Nashville, $15 bloody mary seemed a bit steep. read more

I would give the venue five stars for uniqueness and location but they received three stars because the food was just okay. Not horrible, but not five star worthy. I've been going to this restaurant in the warmer months for quite sometime . Unfortunately the last experience was just not great. The oysters tasted rotten, and I absolutely love raw oysters. The tacos were pretty basic and had a weird taste. The fries were soggy and cold . The potatoes were not seasoned . The hush puppies were good . The drinks were 30$ for two drinks ! The only saving grace was the service which was fast and our server was very nice . Even with the oysters taken off the bill, and sharing a meal it was still close to 80$. We were visiting from out of town and always enjoy eating at restaurants in a marina- Bluegill Grill checked all of the boxes for a good time. The drinks are fantastic and so is the crab dip. It was a busy Friday evening but the staff was excellent and the food and drinks came out quickly. We enjoyed shrimp, onion rings (awesome) and catfish. The menu is simple but covers all the bases-everyone can easily find something to enjoy on the menu. There are plenty of fish and ducks to feed. Fun time! read more

Watched the closing crew dump so many different things right into the water. They rinsed off their nasty mop with who knows what chemicals into the water, they threw their sani buckets right over the dock into the water. Watched the kitchen staff throw what look like oil into the water, then open the kitchen door again and dump and bunch of nasty food in the water. Great lunch today at the Bluegill Grill, an outstanding place to grab a bite to eat on Tim's Ford Reservoir. It was Monday at Noon, so the Bluegill wasn't busy at all. We started off with the Beer Cheese for an appetizer -- yes, it was tasty, but I think it is called Beer Cheese because the more you eat of this cheese, the more beer you will need to consume ! Salty tasting. My fiancee went with a Shrimp basket for her lunch, I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich with basket (fries, macaroni & hushpuppies). Our meals were pretty good, the hoagie roll for my sandwich was quite long, so the many carp, geese, and ducks got a bit of a lunch also. I have to say, thought the hushpuppies were outstanding, crispy on the outside. I'm not a big fan of hushpuppies, but I loved these. Macaroni cup that came in my basket was also excellent. Service was very good too, our waitress Arielle was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to coming back soon for another meal at the Bluegill Grill on the lake, we'll have to do it soon as it closes in mid-September for the season. read more

It's all about the location and scenery here, not so much the food. We've eaten here twice in the past month and found the shrimp to be the best option. If you like frozen drinks, they have a few options you may like. My favorite is the Dickel Drop, a mixture of George Dickel and Sun Drop. My first visit I had the fried shrimp basket and my wife had the grilled. My fried shrimp had very little if any breading, which was fine with me. Their slaw as a side was pretty good as a side item. Our second visit I ordered the red beans and rice. It was ok, nothing I'll crave for sure. Their onion rings are horrible, very greasy on the outside and mushy on the inside. My wife had the jerk chicken tacos. She said she'll never order them again. Too much seasoning. We'll certainly be back but we'll go back to the shrimp. read more

The food when we finally got it was not good I don't know what kind of meat they use but it definitely isn't a high grade meat. The shrimp were tiny and overcooked. The oysters were expensive!! Used to love this place and would usually go twice a weekend, once for dinner and drinks and once for just a dickle drop or two in the afternoons. They have gone up significantly in the past few years, the dickle drops are now $17 a pop. My only reference is Flora Bama's Ole River Grill's Key Lime Colada's which went from 8.50 in 2020 to $10 in 2023. Most of the seating was outdoors and there was a VERY LOUD ROCK BAND (vocalist with a mike, drummer, guitarist on an amp, etc) playing within 5 feet of those dining. Patrons had to use sign language and pointing to communicate with their servers. NO ONE could carry on a conversation at all. Who would possibly want to eat in that situation? Don't order the peel and eat shrimp! You will understand if you smell it. Besides the shrimp, there's not much more to complain about the Bluegill Grill. It's the only bar atmosphere on Tim's Ford lake, so that makes your weekend lake trip that much more enjoyable. This past weekend a group of friends and I went to the Bluegill on both Saturday and Sunday. It can accommodate large groups and is also fun for kids. At one point of both our luncheon trips, we started throwing leftovers into the water to the carp below. These carp are HUGE and is exciting for kids to watch as they feed them. Bluegill also had a band preform on Saturday night, so you know they are good for entertainment. While we enjoyed their cajun crab dip appetizer, the best thing on Bluegill's menu is by far the Dickel Drop. Its a slushie mixture of both George Dickel and citrus soda. Careful - one will get you! I also really enjoyed their slushie version of a cherry limeade. This had vodka mixed in with it and is a bit sweeter than the Dickel Drop. I'd give them four stars for their location on the water, but three 1/2 for the food. Our waitress was friendly and did her best with how busy the place was.
