There are many things that need to be repaired and I got a quote for $17,000 for repairs. They did not respond to my text calls or emails the salesman Merrill will tell you what you want to sign the job but once the job is signed, he could care less. I had to go to the to get his license suspended and there was five other people fighting split the bond which was only $15,000. read more

He had great recommendations and insight and was very realistic about how long the process was going to take. Some other companies gave a lot shorter time frames which didn't seem realistic at all. We had 2 other people on our street putting in pools with a different company, and seeing how long those projects were taking, these shorter time frames being quoted definitely did not seem reasonable. They had started well before us, and we almost beat them to completion. We just filled our pool this past weekend, coming in under the estimated time frame! Luckily they (Glenn Wallwork and Jake Boyer) barely finished the installation pool prior to their departure from California to Texas...They should of never solicited there business if there intent was to move out of state during this process. Both Glenn and Jake arrived at my home with the Proposal, all the work to be done was on the contract compared to a few other proposals I received. During the sales process Jake was available to answer my questions and even took me out to see a few of his pools, which I greatly appreciated. Our pool was scheduled for 18 weeks and was completed in 24 weeks. During the build there was a period of 8 weeks of no work, I was a bit concerned with the communication of being told workers would be there and no one showed. Once progress resumed the quality of work was second to none, the workers went above and beyond to get the job done. The subs Bluefin has chosen do quality work, Hector and his crew (Cement, coping, tile, Block) do outstanding work. Going on a year with our pool and we are very happy with the end result. Very unprofessional. I contacted this firm last weekend to request a quote. I was contacted by text Monday morning to call them. I did call and leave a message for Glenn. Never heard back. Later that afternoon I got a voicemail from Jake who was following up to see if I received a call. I called him back immediately and he stated that he was the owner and he would come out to give me a quote. We set up 11 am for Thursday morning. I texted him my address as soon as we hung up. Thursday morning came and non one showed up. I called and left a message and no phone call back. After seeing two Bluefin Pools from our neighbors, we decided to call them out for our fourth (and last) estimate. Jake was the Project Manager on our pool but we dealt with Glenn as well. Both are EXTREMELY nice, down to earth, and made us feel like we had been friends for years. Our design turned out just as we hoped. The several different subcontractors that worked on the excavation, plumbing, rebar, tile and concrete were out of this world. The tiling took the longest but we had a lot of intricate parts to that aspect. And they got it right. The entire process took three months. Three weeks of that time we're at a halt because of some big rains that came and soaked our steep slope, causing the newly formed walls of our pool to cave in. Jake and Glenn couldn't have dedicated any more of their time to that hiccup. They were awesome, took care of it quickly, and all we had to do was wait for the rain to stop tog at digging again. (Shout out the master of the Bobcat, Mario!! ) All in all, It was a really neat process to follow. And now we get to enjoy our backyard oasis for years to come! read more

I had my pool designed by three different builders and bid on and ultimately the owner of this company, Blue Fin, has been in the pool business his entire life and his dad and his brother and he's very knowledgeable and when I got the bid sheet it looked solid although there were times where I was sitting waiting for things to get done, I started to get frustrated but in the end I realize they finished my pools in just a couple three months so I was very happy in the end I have had no problems with my pool or equipment and the whole set up. They were times when I thought my backyard was a complete disaster! Right after the dig there was dirt everywhere but then I remembered and saw other jobs and it all came together super nice and now we enjoy the pool all year long, I have also reviewed at least 2 to 3 friends and and they had a pretty positive experience, I've learned there's always some frustrations in building a pool regardless of who does it but as long as they perform in the end I'm pretty stoked. read more

Very hesistant to write a review with the feeling of retaliation from Bluefin since I have yet to hear from them regarding a broken skimmer basket and a "written warranty" by Mike and Glen stating it will be fixed if I request fixing within 2 years, well thats not happening because they havent returned any calls or emails or texts. Pool construction did take about 7-8 months October to the following May. There are a lot of design flaws. Concrete guy (B&C Concrete) was a joke. It's overpriced for a little extra side yard and concrete cracking everywhere! And it's only been 4 months since completion. My pool filter no longer primes, and my gague is constantly at or above red-line. NPT Products they used are beautiful and great. However, time management and communication are bare minimum. Glen and Jake, I hope you read this and finally reply to my emails or calls/texts. Legal action against your "warranty" may be the next step, and I really hope we can be civil with this instead. The pool did turn out beautiful, but now having to spend money to get someone to prime the pool or fix a crack/leak... should really be covered BY THE COMPANY WHO BUILT IT. my pool is NOT even one year old!! read more

*ABSOLUTELY THE WORST* I could not image a worse experience from a contractor, short of just stealing our money! We were continuously told that subcontractors would be here the next day and they weren't. Over and over again. Eventually they would show up, change in the front yard from their Premier Pool shirts and work for 2-3 hours in the evening. When we brought this up we were told that our home was their "side job", that's why it's so hard to get them over here. In fact, we had gotten a bill for the third installment stating the tile was complete but was actually no where near being done. If the project supervisor was ever on site he would have known that. When they came by to speak about pre concrete inspection we were informed that the side yard was not covered. This was a surprise to us because we had expressed to him in the design phase that we wanted it done. When we got our estimate from concrete guys a few days later to do it, we were quoted an absurd price and his estimate lacked any details (cost per sq ft to be exact).  I had asked them if they could branch off the gas line being ran to the firepit and tied 12"into the existing patio. They said without hesitation they would be happy to do it and never asked about any additional fee, even though I would have paid a reasonable rate if quoted first. For the rest of the build, it was held against us that they did "free" extra work. Now the line under the patio has made us fail final inspection multiple times because they refused to sleeve it and after numerous requests is STILL not fixed, months later. The yard was a mess and had been since the beginning. It was only cleaned up near the end, after us requesting it multiple times. There was all sorts of pieces of rebar, stakes, saw blades and chunks of concrete all over the yard that is a hazard. The pool was a wreck with drink containers, trash, pallets, construction waste and the like. There was a couple guys what came one day and moved a stack of broken concrete to the front yard where it sat for weeks after. We wanted to have a great experience but the communication was near not existent. A regular visit from our contractor would've be helpful. After we paid the second installment, progress and communication fell off of the planet. We were always given unrealistic timelines, dates that come and go, and empty promises. If you are looking for a pool builder, look elsewhere. read more

After getting the pool built before the pandemic, two years later, we started to have issues with the structure of the pool. My pool cleaner pointed out that the water has metal due to the rebar pushing through the plaster. I called Jake, and he promised to get someone to repair it. A week or so passed, and he promised he would have someone out; a month passed, and he told me that his guy was so busy but would be out soon. Another month and the same thing happened; he claimed he had to hire another guy, and they had pools to finish, but don't worry, someone will come. Well, it's been a year, and Jake has now blocked my calls and won't respond to messages on his business Instagram. To top it all off, my cement they did never cured and is cracking. When I tell you not to do business with this company, I mean it. The area has worsened, and now I'm left to figure out where to get my pool repaired. So much for a lifetime warranty I was promised. Jake was very friendly while waiting for payment, but now I can't reach him. Do yourself a favor and don't do business with them because your pool or cement won't last. read more

After obtaining 3 other estimates, without telling Bluefin Pools I'd decided to go with another company, I canceled my appointment for an estimate with them. When Bret called to see if I wanted to reschedule I explained that I'd decided to go with another company and didn't want to waste their time. Bret offered to come over and provide an estimate and design anyway. I'm so glad he did! There was no pressure. Bret was genuine and very knowledgeable about the construction process. I liked the Bluefin design (especially the way the pool wraps around the corner of our small space) and the price a lot better than the company I'd originally decided to go with. The construction period was about 13 weeks and understandable considering they were working during the summer, during this pandemic but the wait was well worth it. We are so happy with our pool- the look of the beautiful, sparkling pebble finish (I'm obsessed with the lights), the friendly and courteous contractors (that always cleaned up after themselves) and especially Bret. I never had to wait for a response from him. He always responded to my calls or texts the same day. None of my questions or concerns were left unanswered and he always encouraged me to contact him with any questions or concerns I might have had. Our pool was recently filled so no swimming until next summer (it's too cold now) but we are looking forward to using the spa all winter. BlueFin pools did a fantastic job building our custom pool. We have a small backyard and I didn't think it was possible to put a pool in due to the access and small space ; full yard (45' x 24') . Not only did they complete the pool in the time they quoted, even with the heavy rains we had over this past winter of 2022-23. Our pool came out even better than I expected. We elected to have a black bottom, salt water pool, with a pebble finish. Photos would not due it justice. We met with half a dozen companies before we decided to sign with Bluefin for our Pool/spa. BEST DECISION WE MADE! We initially decided to go with them because we had a good gut feeling about Jake and Glenn. Throughout this process they never lied to us or tried to sugar coat anything. They were always transparent about cost, upgrades, timing and any other decision that had to be made along the way. They drove all the way to Oceanside several times to make sure everything was in order and to our liking. Besides being professional, they are just really stand up guys that were a pleasure to work with. They knew how to customize our pool to suit our family's needs. With that said, I am writing this review to express how elated with are with how our pool and spa turned out. We never want to leave our backyard again!
