This is how they loaded the pod.

The owner of the company, Hunter Armstrong, gives a really compelling and believable song and dance about "this is a family-owned business, built on honesty and trust, we're the best in town, we have the best crew, dependable, careful and respectful with your belongings..." none of it is true. Please, be careful. These are actual photos of how this crew packed our belongings into pods. Furniture was not properly wrapped, headboard/ footboard of our bed wasn't wrapped at all, they put the heaviest of boxes on top crushing all the lighter boxes beneath - the list goes on. The price they charged was ASTRONOMICAL compared to the amount of time it should have taken to complete the job. After bleeding the clock for over 4 hours to move 3 rooms, I started moving boxes into the garage myself. I reached out to Hunter Armstrong twice to try to rectify this situation - both emails have gone unanswered. (He was very quick to respond to my email requesting a quote before all of this happened.) I rarely, if ever, take the time out of my day to write reviews but I truly don't want anyone else to get screwed like we did. Find someone else and save your time, money and sanity.

Blue Whale gives you a quote, promises that they will live up to it, and then do not. They destroyed an entire entertainment center, lost boxes, tore a corner off a wall, damaged floors, didn't put furniture back together, and damaged lots of other pieces of furniture. The president Hunter Armstrong made it seem like they were a very trustworthy company, and then they destroyed our furniture and new home. EDIT 1: Spoke with president and seems to hopefully be fixing as much as he can. I will up the review if possible, we'll see.

One board was knocked completely off, several others are loose.

I've used Blue Whale Moving several times in the past. The moves themselves haven't always gone 100% smoothly, but I understand that sometimes things happen. And I've appreciated the genuine effort they've put into making things right. Until now. Blue Whale has some good folks on their staff. Several years ago I used them to move across town, and on the morning of the move, no truck arrived. After a while I called to check in, and long story short: one of their drivers had failed to show that day. We would be waiting a while until another of their crews could finish up and come do our move. One of their office employees came by personally and apologized. She also waited and kept reaching out for updates, keeping the lines of communication open and keeping us apprised of what was going on. Eventually we got a crew, and some extra movers. They knocked out the move crazy fast, were extremely professional, and knocked a good chunk of money off the move as an apology for what had happened. More recently though, I'm left wondering if more and more of those good people have just moved on. My wife and I bought a house this year, and when we moved in, the movers they sent struggled to get our couches up the stairs, and in the process, they dropped one of our couches at the top of the stairs knocking loose several steps. When I let the movers know what they had done, rather than apologize or accept any responsibility, they said "whoever built this house did it in a rush," and tried to blame the broken steps on shoddy construction. I let them know the stairs had survived 25 years just fine until they dropped a couch on them, and we went on with the rest of the move. The next day I filed a claim with the company. That was over three months ago. After not hearing anything for several weeks, I called. The employee who handled their claims said he would contact their vendor and I should hear from them in the coming days. Another week or so passes by, and I hear nothing. So I call again. Again, "any day now." Weeks pass, and after a seemingly endless game of phone tag, I get ahold of Hunter, who lets me know that the employee who handled their claims left the company abruptly, but he's going to handle my claim personally. Another week passes, and nothing. I call back, but Hunter's in a meeting. I try several times before finally leaving a message letting them know I intend to file a complaint with the Texas DMV once their 90 day period to settle the claim is up. That was over a week ago, and as of this writing, I still haven't heard anything. I think there are probably good people at Blue Whale who want to take pride in their company. But whether through bad management, bad luck, or just incompetence, none of that shines through the way it used to. If we ever move again, I won't be using their services. And I'll be telling friends and family to stay far, far away.

Do NOT hire.. See photos of packing and loading. See photos of ART stacked together and wrapped together. Paid for individual wrap and some in cartons. GHOSTING us. Will not respond to emails, phone calls and texts. Disputed on Amex.. Beware!

I hired them to pack my house for staging. They sent 2 guys for $120 per hour. I had and still have several moving boxes. Because they charge for boxes, they didn't use mine. I'm selling my couch before moving. While packing they packed a power strip with a plug for the electric recliner. Literally detached it from the couch and packed it. I went in the pod to see if I could find it. I have not yet. What I did find were several half packed boxes. I've attached some photos for reference. And so many gaps that should've been filled to save space. I was happy to spend $700+ to not have to do this myself and now I have to do this myself.

DO NOT USE BLUE WHALE TO MOVE if you care about your belongings, time or sanity. This experience was far worse than when I used to move apartments in my 20s with a buddy's truck and beer for payment. Look for the one-star reviews in Google and Yelp. THAT was my experience. Packers showed up late on Friday and didn't pack everything in the house. Movers showed up late on Saturday and didn't move everything in the house. They finished around 8pm leaving little time to get rooms situated for bed. I spent Sunday packing and moving what was left. What was packed was packed well but that hardly matters given how awful the rest of it was. Many of the boxes were not labeled. I'm opening boxes from the laundry room and garage in my bedroom. I asked the movers how they were going to protect my new and pricey mattress. "Wrap it" they said. Well guess what? I saw my unwrapped mattress on the dirty floor of the truck being lugged down the ramp and into the house. They drug lawn furniture through the house instead of going in through the side yard gate. A cable for the adjustable bed was broken and must be replaced. Daughter's vanity was reassembled with screws poking out the front. Kitchen table was reassembled upside down on the hardwood floor (no pad which is what I would use) and now has scratches on it. End tables scratched up. Refrigerator handles scratches even though they took the handles off. Dents in washer and dryer. The home I moved out of has a huge gouge in 2-month-old hardwood floors. Movers and packers smoked cigarettes all day and left butts lying around. There's more but this is should be enough to discourage you from using this company. I stupidly did not read Yelp reviews, only looked at the 4.5 star rating on Google which I don't understand at all. I let the owner know via email on the next day because I was livid. To his credit he called and left a message asking to "make it right". But there is no making it right other than to never had made it wrong and we'll need a time machine for that.

And when you're not organized nor do you have a minimalistic bone in your body like myself, it's soul crushing. Which is why I love the entire Copper Palm crew. These guys are amazing! They show up on time, they move like the wind, they're somehow able to carry things that are easily three times their own body weight...and they're nice! They can take (and give) a joke without breaking stride. Instead of doing one big move, we needed it done in a series of steps, and CP was so helpful with strategy and implementation. The initial portion was moved into their storage warehouse for two weeks (a godsend for "staging") and then delivered to our new house after closing. When it came time for the rest of it to go, they came over early one Friday and had everything from clothes and artwork to chairs and china packed by early afternoon. They were back first thing the next morning for the actual move and we were sitting snug in a new house full of all our cr@p by evening. Were there a couple of small dings along the way? Of course! Because that's what happens when you move! But this crew of guys work hard, work carefully, work thoughtfully and work intelligently. I just wish they'd wear back braces and take more water breaks.

Also the movers were supposed to pack our belongings "as it states in the Groupon" and the movers showed up with no boxes OR tools. The manager Scott was very unprofessional, stated he accidentally scheduled us in the wrong book because when he was booking our move he was driving to pick up his daughter. We never received a confirmation, just a verbal time and date. If we wouldn't of called around 10am to check where they were the movers would not have come. Save your money and book with another moving company. Side note. The actual two gentlemen who ended up moving us were very nice and helpful. It was not their fault. They were just doing what they were told.

These guys charge by time and all I can say is that at the time we moved our team of guys took sooooooo long to move our stuff. Not only that .. they actually took a break on the way to our new home and disappeared on us for over almost two hours. When we asked where they went they said they had to stop for gas and snacks. We were charged for the time they "filled gas" and had snacks. There isn't much more I can say about this business other than that. The manager stopped by at the end of the job and asked us how things went so we told him about the long break but he didn't say much and we were asked to pay so we did. Conclusion - make sure you ask about the time they charge for and if breaks are included etc.

Despite a previously great experience with Square Cow, I went with blue ribbon based on my realtor's recommendation. Mistake. The movers took ~45 minutes for lunch while moving the items between our start point and destination which they CHARGED us for. They asked if it was OK if they took 15 minutes to stop at a gas station on the way. There was no mention of whether or not we would be charged. We agreed but the break was actually 45 minutes. We had arrived at our new house and were waiting more than 45 minutes for them to arrive. Lo and behold, we were charged for their 45 minute lunch break. On top of that, some of the boxes were delivered to the wrong rooms, even when they were clearly marked. This can be a big problem when we are talking upstairs vs downstairs and you're a petite woman that has difficulty moving boxes. No way would I use Blue Ribbon again.

From the first encounter on-site to the last, I had only bad interactions and even worse results. I was completely taken advantage of after being left in a bad predicament. They handled my belongings very poorly which resulted in a large amount of damage. They underestimated the job so much that my young niece had to drive a 26ft rental truck herself. I would never recommend them for any type of service. I was overcharged for negligent service.

I even made an error in scheduling the pickup which they helped correct at short notice. Terms and conditions were clearly communicated. I was allowed 100lbs of trunk storage so that was a plus! (FYI: S2S is an agent and not the carrier itself.) They also provided a limited $100k insurance for the car (with some terms) included in the quote. They would not assume liability for any items stored in the car itself and that's perfectly understandable in context of the nature of the move. The carrier contacted me separately and coordinated a pickup. They too were very polite and communicative. The trailer understandably could not be driven into residential areas, so I had to drive out a few miles to meet the transporter both at Austin and San Diego. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend their services.

There has been a known rodent problem since September that management has failed to properly address or communicate to tenants. Several of my belongings were damaged, and others exposed to mice excrement as pictured. The only response from management has been to place glue traps, which do nothing to resolve the larger issue. When I requested to move units because of the infestation, I was initially offered a new one at a higher rate, which I found shocking and poor customer service, and then moved to another unit on the same floor--only to find that one quickly infested as well. Despite acknowledging the rodent issue, management offered no meaningful assistance or compensation beyond insurance that didn't cover the extent of the damage. This experience was extremely disappointing. Avoid storing your items here, and if you are currently stored on the 3rd floor, I would strongly suggest checking your items for signs of rodents.

Construction of the facility makes perfect sense. The main office is located on the first floor, next to three large garage doors. You can back vehicles into the garage bay to unload, out of any inclement weather. Each bay door can be individually opened via keypad access code. There are also two sliding doors--one inside the garage bay, and the other on the opposite side of the building. Both require an access code. Near each entrance is an elevator. Individual floors, other than the first, are restricted by access code. There are also a few carts available for customer use. There appear to be at least 4 storage floors. Customer access is from 6am to 9pm. The managing staff are onsite. The storage units and each floor appear to be quite pristine. Climate control is set to keep the storage facility between roughly 65F and 78F. For newer rented units, they are transitioning to cylinder lock and key; no more lock combinations to remember or pad locks. The facility requires you to insure the belongings that you wish to store. They will automatically enroll you in an insurance policy at $12 a month for $2000 coverage. However, if you have your own insurance (e.g. renters) that covers property in storage, you can provide them a declarations page, and they will accept that. Other than that, there are one time fees for a lock (if you don't have a cylinder lock of your own) and an administrative setup fee. Rent is prorated for the move-in month, and then turns into month-to-month. So that means if you have to move out, move out by the last day of the month, otherwise you'll be charged for another month if you still occupy the unit on the 1st of the next month. Finally, there appears to be at least 4 pricing tiers for identical units, based on location in the storage facility. So you may wish to check out multiple units and their locations within the facility that strikes a balance between desired size, location, and price. Overall: well-designed, secure, and well-maintained.
