Got a written estimate from Rae for new furnace and heat pump that listed a $2000 Efficiency Works rebate, but that rebate has never been available in Boulder. When I asked questions about the rebate she said "I've never seen anyone get less than $2000". I also got an estimate for a water heater install, it was $4000 but did not even specify the brand or model of water heater. I asked the company twice if I could talk to an estimator that knows more about rebates and equipment, did not get a response. I would go less then 1 star if I could. Got a HVAC system (heat pump, furnace, etc..) installed 2 years ago. It took them many tries to finally get the system to work correctly. Last year, it was very hot in the house. I went downstairs and found bunch of standing water in the basement utility room. Sensor that is supposed to stop the system in time to prevent damage did not stop it until there was already water everywhere. Called them, they came and said must have been dirt in the system causing it to back-up. They replaced the sensor and cleaned water outlet. A year later, exact same issue. Really? 2-year old system and the same issue happens twice. Only once in 18 years with my old system did this happen, and it was because of a clogged drain and they added a trap and a sensor to shutoff the system should it happen again. Now, for the SECOND TIME in 2 YEARS - I have water on the ground! I am on their subscription service plan and *SHOULD* get priority service. I called them ALL evening, no response. "We will call you back." - ended up being disconnected after waiting... Two hours later, (I never did receive a returned call) I try again and finally get someone on the phone. They can't tell me when someone will be able to come out and will have dispatch call me in the morning at 8AM. What happened to 24/7 emergency service? My system is down. I'm on their service plan and supposed to get priority, and I have family members that cannot tolerate heat and we will likely incur a hotel cost to keep the menopausal wife happy! *FINALLY* - I get a text message someone will be here the day after tomorrow, yay. I might be forced to stay with my mother in law!! This company might have been good in the past, but as you can also see from other reviews they now should not be trusted. If working with a FRAUDULENT VENDOR IS YOUR THING, then Blue Valley is your company. PERSONALLY, I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. tl/dr: The tech fixed the issue, then rendered the furnace inoperable so we'd have to call them back to steal more of my $$$$. I'd read elsewhere that Blue Valley got acquired by a private equity firm, which explains a lot. F*ck PE money and their corrupting ways. Below is the full story... We recently had Blue Valley service our furnace. The technician was really great explaining what the problem was, had pictures and videos depicting the error code and all that. All of which made me feel really great about the service I was getting. He then provided 3 options for me, which on the surface made everything seem more on the up and up. The 1st involved cleaning the part, the 2nd involved replacing the part (not in stock so I'd have to wait for days), and the 3rd involved replacing the entire furnace. He kept reiterating that the furnace was 14 years old and that parts tend to start breaking after 10 years, they had zero interest financing, best option for peace of mind, blah blah blah. But we'd only had one part fail thus far, and I really wasn't prepared to replace my entire unit. I went with option 1, which took an additional 5-10 mins at most, but afterwards I was happy to see the furnace running again! Before leaving and paying the $300 for what took no more than an hour in total(!!), I was asked to sign e-consent forms indicating that if anything broke afterwards, yada yada, they couldn't be held liable, which seemed completely reasonable at the time. Later in the day I noticed the house getting cool, and sure enough the furnace wasn't working again. When I looked at the quote to replace the part, it was for $900 and reflected a "potential savings" of $189. MMMk. Next I went to look the part cost up only to be stunned to see that the part from amazon was only $50!?! So, Blue Valley wanted to charge me $900 for a $50 part that would take literally 10 minutes to replace. Now I'm thinking, WTAF?? I take the part off myself (one bolt + 2 power connectors), inspect, and performed the recommended test, which seemingly indicated that the part was fine? So we start doing all sorts of other troubleshooting with intake and exhaust ducting which could have caused the problem, without any change in results. After considering all of the options and a couple of hours later, as a last ditch effort, we went back to the furnace to see if there was anything else that seemed to be the problem, which we definitely found. The furnace was no longer working because the BLOWER FAN POWER CONNECTORS HAD BEEN TAKEN OFF OF THE BLOWER MOTOR!! Now, there is NO WAY the furnace would have worked fine before the tech left if those connectors were unplugged! Sure enough, once we reconnected power to the blower motor, the furnace is now working without any issues!!! SO DISAPPOINTED after all the great reviews, which is why we picked them to begin with. About 2 1/2 years ago my partner and I got bids from several companies to install mini-splits (heat pumps), planning to use a rebate from the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). We chose Blue Valley (BV). BV said that when the IRA funds became available there would be a rush to purchase the heat pumps and they suggested we pay them 1/2 of their bid, or ~$10,500, up front and they would purchase the heats pumps and store them until the IRA funds became available. We naively agreed. The IRA funds never became available. However, Xcel began a rebate program so we decided to go forward utilizing the Xcel rebate. Our BV sales person came out, reevaluated our needs, and gave us a new quote with different equipment than used on the original quote. We were told this was because the federal regulations had changed and older heat pumps were not eligible for the rebate. Our new quote was for Bosch equipment and we were set for installation. About a week before the installation was to occur, we got an email from BV saying they were unable to get the heat pumps because of the tariffs and changes in federal regulations. They said that no one could get them. We knew others were getting installations so we called around and all the other companies were getting and installing pumps with no delays or problems, including Bosch. At this point BV had our money for 2 1/2 years. We asked for our money back. After weeks of back and forth (they always put us off except to make the sale), the manager said they would have difficulty selling the pumps they had purchased for us (we never had any proof the equipment was actually purchased) because they were out of date and no longer eligible for any rebates. Therefore, the manager said, we would have to pay fully for the equipment plus a restocking fee. He was going to get back to us with what we owed them. We talked to a contract attorney who, after looking over our paperwork and hearing our story, said it looked like we were victims of ELDER ABUSE. He suggested we write them an email saying we wanted 100% of our money back within 5 days or we would contact an attorney. BV immediately responded saying they would return $9,336.52, withholding about $1,200 for a restocking fee. Although the attorney thought we could get 100% back, we agreed to the lesser amount just to end this debacle. It appears that BV lied about everything. We wonder if this has happened to other trusting souls and don't want to it happen to others. Do not use Blue Valley! read more

Absolutely no follow-up whatsoever. We had a AC and Heating system inspection done just for general maintenance. The tech was fine however did not note anything related to the heat exchanger nor send us the estimate he promised. I called this company to get some answers and find out what happened to the estimate. The woman answering the phone said someone would call me back. 3 days later I got online and chatted with Gavin and he said the same. Now, 3 days later, no contact. I actually called The Bee as that is normally who I use however apparently they sold out to Blue Valley. Don't call this company, its BS that no one can even call you back when you make that request. read more

Eleven years ago Blue Valley installed a new furnace and air conditioner in my home. Last year during my yearly summer maintenance visit, their technician performed a total of $1,833.77 to test my air conditioner and then said it needed to be replaced! I was then sent an estimate of over $10,000 for Blue Valley to install a new air conditioner!! Fortunately my daughter suggested I contact her HVAC company, who in turn discovered that the LINE SET was never replaced when Blue Valley originally installed my air conditioner. Because the line set was too small in diameter for the unit Blue Valley installed, it caused the motor to overwork and consequently the motor burned out. In addition to this my daughter's HVAC man found my air conditioner in filthy condition!!! I was paying yearly to have Blue Valley clean my air conditioner!! I sent an email to the owner of Blue Valley Heating & Cooling asking for a refund of the monies I paid. I've received no response. read more

Do not use this company! I paid thousands upfront then had my system changed on me, spent lots of wasted time trying to fix things, was hung up on by staff and managers, and ended up with an outdated low-end system when I signed up for a high-end system. I tried to take advantage of the City of Denver rebates and ran into multiple problems with this company throughout the entire process. First, they tried to charge me too much and I had to spend hours getting the city to tell them they weren't following the program rules. They finally fixed this but only if I agreed to pay 100% upfront. I had no choice as this was the only company registered in my area for the rebates. Second, when the rebates changed, instead of meeting me halfway on the price difference, they offered me a cheap outdated system that doesn't even meet the current efficiency standards. The one star is because the install was performed satisfactorily and passed inspection. Third, I was told after the install that the salesperson messed up and told me the wrong rebate and that it was even less. They were unwilling to compensate me for the difference even though they made the mistake. Finally, they did not schedule the inspection while their techs were at my house. They scheduled it and I had to be home. They didn't enter the correct contact info and the inspector left because he couldn't get a hold of me. I tried asking if a service representative could handle the inspection because I had already taken a day off work and it was their fault the inspector had the wrong contact info. I was hung up on twice, once by the woman who handles the scheduling and once by the manager. They both yelled at me and told me the city lies and doesn't contact people and it was my fault. I left a message for the owner and never got a callback. I had to take off work a second day and schedule the inspection myself. Overall, my experience is that this company only cares about money, once they have it their customer service is absolutely terrible. read more

I had them come out to do a winter tune up on our furnace. He did the maintenance and then wrote up two quotes for "suggested repairs". One was to "Remove, clean, and reinstall the indoor fan assembly to ensure proper airflow and air quality in the HVAC system." $787.00. The second quote was to replace the condensate neutralizer on our tankless water heater(which wasn't even part of the job)....$350. I did this for $60. Also wanted us to buy a maintenance package. I have been dealing with a furnace issue since I moved into my home in January. After several visits from an HVAC guy, I decided to contact Rheem directly. As it turns out, this is practically an impossibility: no phone number on their website, just a customer contact form to fill out and send (which I did - in great detail - about three months ago and never heard a word from them). The next step was to try reaching out to one of the contractors listed on the Rheem site. This is where Blue Valley Energy comes into the story. My initial contact with Karen at the Blue Valley office was cordial, and she felt certain her guys could figure out the problem and correct it. The appointment was scheduled for Friday, June 9. The day before the scheduled appointment, Karen called to reschedule. I wasn't thrilled, but I definitely wanted to get someone out, so what choice did I have? We rescheduled Eric for the following Monday. He arrived on time and went straight to work inspecting the unit and recreating the gas venting problem we discussed. After about an hour and a half, he explained that he was unable to make a determination and wanted to set up a joint meeting with Xcel onsite as well, and he'd be in touch. When I didn't hear anything by Thursday, I called Karen to find out what was going on. She explained that Eric was no longer with the company. I asked how the progress was coming on getting a meeting with Xcel, to which she answered that a different tech would need to come out and essentially do the same inspection Eric had done. Greg, the service manager, was scheduled to come out on Friday, June 23rd. He arrived, completed the inspection (again), and recreated our gas exhaust issue (again), and confirmed something was amiss. Exactly what, he was unsure, but he would call me by no later than Tuesday, hopefully Monday. I called on Wednesday when I hadn't heard from him, and was told it had been handed over to Brandon Schmidt, the Operations Manager. Now we're getting somewhere, I thought. I'd like to be able to report that Brandon is a great guy, effective in his position, and that he found a resolution for us. Unfortunately, he never returned one message of the dozen or so I left over the following weeks. In addition, I had horrible interactions with a girl named Veronica (listed as 'Data Entry' on the Blue Valley website, and she should not be a point of customer contact representing any company); she was rude, dismissive, under informed, and she failed to return a single message. So, it is with a clear conscience that I rate this company so poorly. If you choose to engage them for service, perhaps go in with low expectations and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

Tried to have these guys replace our broken furnace. After getting a quote, we called and left messages at both the main office and with the tech who did the inspection -- Jeremy -- in order to schedule the replacement. No one got back to us for over a month, despite leaving multiple messages. Then, we got a *new* quote from Jeremy, in which he told us that "lots of things [had] changed" and that the boiler replacement was going to be $3,800 more expensive than the price he originally quoted. In other words, these guys failed to answer their phone calls for two months, then tried to charge us almost four thousand dollars more than their original price. Obviously, we went with someone else. I would be very careful about working with these guys. They might quote you a low price and then try to charge you more -- the way the did with us. read more

I told him that I didn't know much about this kind of work and he walked me through the whole process. I will use them for all of my needs when it comes to this type of work. My AC was broken. The tech was on time, friendly and seemed knowledgeable. He checked the charge in the system, checked the electrical system for the fan and compressor. It was obvious there was a leak. He proceeded to charge the system with R22 (the refrigerant, expensive) and was going find the leak by looking for oil on the piping. He said it was the furnace coil, and they'd have to get an estimate for me. The estimate seemed very high. Got a second opinion: 1. Tech charged the system with Nitrogen (the recommended method) 2. Could hear the leak clearly. 3. Went into the crawl space, found the leak in the line -- the line was corroded and cracked by water damage. So Blue Valley Energy did a terrible job debugging the problem, didn't find the real solution and tried to sell me a new furnace coil without finding the problem. read more

When I put in a new driveway in 2013, I decided to ditch my old cast iron boiler for my baseboard heat and go with Geothermal from Blue Valley Energy. With the tax credits it wasn't all that much more expensive than just replacing my boiler unit. Love the system, and my LP Gas bills have dropped significantly. Electrical bill went up a bit but since I have solar electricity it wasn't too bad. Overall a win win. Had a couple issues with leaks over that last 2 years, but the service was great at resolving them quickly. read more

I like this company. They do geothermal energy. I did the initial consult with them a bit over a year ago. I realized that although I cannot justify the expense of installing geothermal energy at my house, it is totally amazing, and I would if I could, and would use this company to install it. WOW! The customer service at first with this company was amazing, the front office manager who took my call set an apt for the following Monday. The issue I ran into with this company is when the apt came, they sent the wrong tech when I insisted I needed an installer. The woman over the phone stated I did not, so nothing could get done for a bio hazard clean up that needed to be done ASAP. Honestly, no big deal, stuff like that happens all the time. BUT the issue I ran into, when I called to inform the office, the office manager was SO rude that I cancelled everything, she got defensive and try to put the blame one me THE CUSTOMER. Long story short, I will NEVER ever recommend this place due to their incompetence and absolute horrible customer service. We actually were subcontracting this out and were going to use them going forward for all our AC business. She definitely destroyed that from ever happening. customer service goes a long way and this company has zero. read more

I called on a Monday with a furnace that was not working. They sent out a tech named "Kevin" who arrived in a very bad mood. He diagnosed the problem, but did not have the proper part. Kevin returned later that day to finish the repair, but still did not have the correct part. I found this incredible since he had removed the broken part and had taken it with them to the parts place. The next day Kevin returned and completed the repair with the supposed correct replacement part. That seemed to fix the problem. The thermostat was also scheduled to be replaced (I had arranged this with Karen ; the thermostat replacement was no surprise), but the thermostat Kevin brought with him had no wires on the inside. Really??? Does this guy actually do repairs??? I spoke with Jeremy, the service manager who promised to come to my house with a working thermostat, if he was in the area. I paid the $800 repair bill in full. Five days later, Saturday morning, the furnace was blowing cold air again; ie, I had no heat. This was the exact same problem I had before the first repair. I tried to reach Blue Valley, but only got a recording, no one ever called back, despite the fact Blue Valley advertises 24 hr. service. I was left high and dry with a non-working furnace that I paid $800 to fix. I had to call another service. The repair man, Kevin, clearly did not know what he was doing. Blue Valley has no emergency service, even when it is themselves who botched the repair. Whatever you do, do not call Blue Valley. read more
