They don't communicate well With customers and I had an appointment scheduled and they didn't call to say the Electrician wasn't available. Welzig has been our HVAC service provider for several months. Mark Ritz is our assigned technician and he has been great. He is neat, polite and informative filling me in on any repairs and giving my multiple options when repairs are needed. We had a recent issue and Mark was at our house within 24 hours. He assessed the problem, let me know what the problem was, but said that he would check to see whether our system was still under warranty so that we would not need to pay. I had Welzig out on Monday. The trip charge is $89. I offered to pay more!!!!! Because they lead me to believe the problem of overheating was due to the temperature being set too high and I thought they had fixed it! So I paid $269. Then the heater stopped working again! I called to tell them they needed to come back. The girl who answered the phone said they would take care of me, and that there would be no charge since they had just been there. She later denied it (but she also said she didn't remember talking to me!). So when the technician came out, unfortunately the tenant had reset the heater so it was working. The technician said he couldn't help me ( again- he did nothing except walk in and walk out), and his boss said he had to charge me anyway!!! RIP OFF!!!! If you have a boiler, call someone else! There tech only has 5 yrs experience and obviously couldn't figure out the problem. read more

My neighbor had great experiences with this company so I asked them to come out and check out my AC which had stopped working after 21 years of doing a good job. They were prompt and very responsive. The tech replaced a part yet I encouraged him to check the motor and he simply wrote that idea off as irrelevant. After he replaced the part, the AC was working...but stopped working about an hour after he left. What really impressed me about this company was that though they charged me the full service, part and trip fee...when I let them know what had happened, they refunded the full amount that I had paid. This is a company of integrity when it comes down to it. read more

so sorry to have to do this, but people should be warned. We got a furnace from them 13 years ago and it failed this year (3 major things). We found out not only was it installed improperly, but they NEVER did a proper yearly maintenance. But in the meantime, they are no longer a Lennox dealer, so they wouldn't admit to any negligence or wrongdoing on their part. Today is the last time I use Welzig Heating and Air Conditioning for my furnace maintenance! This company is outstanding! They that truly care about doing good business and working hard for their customers. Our furnace went out just as it was starting to get cold and we had no good options but to fully replace our furnace system. Casey spent over an hour at my house talking through all of the options we had and fully explained all the details. His attention to detail was top notch. He did a full heat load analysis on the house to verify proper airflow and sizing for the whole system. I got estimates from two other companies and none of them did anything like this. Casey gave me a full spectrum of options with pros and cons. I never felt pressure to get the most expensive system. Once we decided move forward with the installation they shuffle their packed schedule around and even pulled a crew off another larger job to get our system put in the very next day. When I thanked them for the quick turnaround they just said "it was important to move you up because you have a young son that needs to be warm". Just a sign of the kind of family friendly mentality this business has. When it came to installation day I could not have been happier. The crew worked nonstop for 11 hours to get the system installed. They got a lot of work done in a short period of time. I'm convinced most other companies would have stretched this job out to two or even three days. Again great attention to detail and commitment to installing a good product. Special thanks to David, Brett & Saul for their great work. Casey has already scheduled a follow-up visit to verify we are happy. This is definitely not a "set-it-and-forget-it" company. Zero stars should be an option. Glow igniter broke in furnace. Called welzig to come out figuring they would have part and get it done so i wouldn't have to deal with it. My wife was home for the technician visit. Instead of diagnosing and fixing the problem, the tech put some borescope camera into the furnace saying there were all these cracks and couldn't even be safely turned on. But every time my wife went to look at the camera image herself, the tech claimed the battery just died and couldnt show her. Then came up with some pictures on an ipad that were, i am sure, not even our furnace. Tried to sell my wife a new furnace for $10k! and of course she knew this was total BS and had him leave. But he didnt leave befor clipping this big scary warning sign to the furnace. Very theatrical. They kept calling us about that furnace install. In the meantime, two days of heating with gas fireplace while $100 glow igniter arrived and half hour of work we have working furnace. And guess what, the CO monitor at the furnace hasnt complained and we're all not dead. Im sure business is tough, but that's no excuse to commit fraud. Please go out of business or gain a conscience. read more

Beware of this Company and get 2nd opinion on plumbing work. My pump went out on my furnace. The Welzig Tech came into my home and looked at the pump and quoted a charge to replace and put a new one in for $400 to $600. I found the exact pump at home depot for $55.20 and had a handy man put it in for under $50. The handy man did a great job and everything is working correctly. The cost to me was around $100 instead of $400 to $600 the Welzig tech quoted. Stay away from this Company they will rip you off. read more

This place will take advantage of you. My boiler broke in the middle of winter. They were quick to respond and tried to get us to pay over $10,000 to replace it. They knew we were in a bind and had little kids. I asked about a breakdown in cost and they wouldn't give it to me. I felt something didn't seem right. Luckily my brother is a GC and I called him. He ordered me a more efficient boiler and I paid a local licensed plumber and electrician to come and install it. Guess what, it only cost me about $5,000. Shop around, ask what the unit costs and how much they are charging you for labor, etc. read more

I have to recommend against Welzig for their services. Not only did they install our furnace in such a way that the water heater is now non-removeable without disconnecting the furnace, not only did they a year later show up to service the furnace they installed with the wrong filter and have to come back days later, not only did they pressure us for a service contract that we'll only have them service the parts they installed and can hardly deal with themselves while still searching for new customers/contracts... But today they couldn't even find the right address and instead serviced our neighbors home instead of ours, while leaving a voicemail on the cellphone when ALL of the service notes say to call the landline. I've never known a company of their size to do such a poor job. read more

We've been happy with Welzig for years. We live in Loveland, however, the fact that Welzig is located in Longmont never presents a problem. They have technicians who live in Loveland and are always very accommodating about assigning those folks to stop by our house on their way to work... or home in the evening. Every single tech we've had in our home has been extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Most recently, Tyler came to do our summer "tune up" (we've been Club members from the start) ... and he was just terrific to work with! read more

FACT: Welzig believes that when a part is universally available at a cost of about $150-retail, it is OK to charge the customer $637 for it AND not disclose how they arrive at that dollar amount for your cost. After repeated inquiries for specifying, the reply was, '...it's the cost of doing business...additional materials...gas, insurance, warranty. We do not provide a breakdown of our business expenses'. --- Well, I don't want a profile of your business expenses but when you conceal nearly $500 of those 'business expenses' in a part, I sure as hell deserve to know. (BTW, the $637 does not include the $$$ fee for ninety minutes of drive time nor the $ fee for the visit. And the drivetime was to leave and get a part that the plumbing mechanic broke during the install of the subject part. I'm not even objecting to that.) --- Is the lack of disclosure good business practice: no. Unethical: yes. Currupt: I think so. You decide. Or just roll the dice and call Welzig. It seems half of the reviews here are negative and that's a horrible track record. I wish I had looked here before I called them. The mechanic was a nice guy, but Welzig's business practices are deplorable. A lack of disclosure is dishonest. BEWARE OF WELZIG. read more

We recently experienced a super service call from Alex C. He was knowledgeable and professional and got the A/C maintenance work done quickly. Alex has a level of maturity that is rare in someone so young. He is articulate, focused and confident. We look forward to having him back. As customers of Welzig Heating & Air for nearly 10 years, we have had nothing but positive experiences with this company. Weston, for example, was able to resolve problems with our humidifier on the furnace when it required him to create a solution, not just replace a part. That solution has been working fine for years now. This company has its heart in the right place. The owners are engaged in our community and so are their staff. They are making a sincere effort to use technology to communicate about who is coming to my home and at what time they will arrive. They also emailed me a copy of my invoice after they were done. During what was supposed to be a routine heater cleaning and adjustment service, the Welzig HVAC Tech used a fiber optic scope to visually inspect the heat exchanger and pointed out several metal surface irregularities that he said were cracks resulting in a CO leak which was not safe, and therefore the heat exchanger had to be replaced or the heater replaced. Welzig's literature claims that not using an optical scope to inspect the heat exchanger "would be a disservice at the least and borderline fraud". The Welzig Tech provide a quote that we could either replace the heat exchanger for $3,829 or buy a new Lennox heater for $3,419, but we had to make the decision in the next four days if we wanted to take advantage of the 20% year-end Lennox discount. But, the Welzig Tech said we could continue running the heater during the winter cold snap we were experiencing as long as there was a CO monitor in the house, which there is. But this did not sound safe. So as soon as the Welzig Tech left, I decided to get a 2nd opinion and if necessary another quote. During which I learned that our Carrier Heater had a 20-year warranty on the heat exchanger parts and it would only cost $400 in labor to replace the heat exchanger, if there was an actual CO leak. The 2nd firm made it clear that the only way to determine if there is an actual CO leak is to use a CO detector probe placed above the heater exhaust. They do not use an optical probe because it not reliable due to minor flaws in the metal surface. I schedule the 2nd firm to send out their HVAC Tech. During this inspection and with the heater turned on we watched his CO detector increase from 0 parts per million to 2 PPM which validated there was an actual CO leak. And as the heat exchanger ages metal fatigues due to heating and cooling will only get worse over time. A "serious" CO leak is greater than 50 PPM. So instead of spending $3,829 to replace the heat exchanger with Welzig, we spent $400 in labor cost with the 2nd company. After several attempts to get the Welzig owner on the phone to discuss the problems and misrepresentations; he never returned the calls. read more

I have been very happy with Welzig's service. I have been on their Maintenance Club program for a long time, a great deal which keeps my A/C and furnace running without a hitch. I pay 300.00 per year for the service (a little more than normal since I have them come out between visits to do the filter), and they break it out into a monthly fee - great for anyone on a budget, and way cheaper than a repair later. (It's just a bonus that this plan also means I don't have to change the furnace filter myself; it's in the crawlspace, where the spiders and clowns live, and just...no.) As for their repair work, they have never tried to sell me on anything, despite my aged furnace which, if they wanted, they could totally scare me into replacing; all I've heard is "it's kind of big for the house, but it's working great!" What truly earned my trust is that the one time I DID need a repair to my A/C unit (a few years ago, and it's been fine since), and they made sure to contact the manufacturer to have the warranty pay for what they could FIRST before sending me a bill since they saw that the unit was less than 5 years old. I ended up paying maybe 200.00 for an unexpected repair that would have been upwards of 700.00 and a lot of hassle as I tried to make a claim for a reimbursement from the manufacturer. Not sure about the other reviewer's service call; sorry to hear it, but I just haven't had that experience with them. Caveat emptor of course; your mileage may vary, but mine has been excellent. read more

We purchased our our tankless water heater, AC and furnace thru Welzig. During COVID, working from home, I started experiencing severe allergy issues and Welzig was able to help me purchase and install a home Hepa filtration system & UV light. We hit a home run with Cameron, our Welzig tech, he was outstanding from start to finish. Knowing that I was having allergy-induced asthma issues, he went "above and beyond" to make sure our system was installed as quickly and painlessly as possible. We so appreciate his 200% engagement. We also had a "tight" space to install and he came up with a super creative solution that was perfect for the space in our laundry room. His knowledge was amazing and his "can do" attitude fantastic. We could not be more happy with the hepa filtration system purchase and were thrilled that Cameron's service and tech knowledge were so amazing. Thank you Welzig and Cameron! read more

We have a pre-paid annual maintenance agreement with Welzig. This agreement gives us an annual tune-up on our heating and cooling equipment and the promise of prioritized service in case we have an issue. At the moment, our air conditioning is not working because of an issue caused by their recent annual service on our unit. I cannot get a scheduled appointment because they are "too busy". In the past, we have gotten excellent results with Welzig when we were having equipment installed (i.e., huge purchases), but their on-going service has disappointed us greatly. We will be cancelling our annual maintenance agreement because of problems caused by this maintenance and receiving no prioritization whatsoever. read more

The list of errors was pretty long after the installation of a boiler and tankless domestic hot water system. The gas leak was the most troubling. Despite our insistence that we could smell, gas they did not find it. We had to call in another company. Their failure to put a cap on the exhaust pipes on the roof for the boiler was almost as bad as the gas leak; they used only tar, which collapsed in the Summer when it got hot. The should have used a cap with some tar to seal it. Then, there was the failure to regulate the domestic hot water temperature with a tempering/mixing valve; this problem was quickly diagnosed by another technician. They were also unable to diagnose other minor problems with out admittedly old radiators. Another technician solved that quickly as well. The bottom line is this: if you want to find a reputable firm that knows boilers, tankless systems, and/or radiators, I would encourage you to look elsewhere. read more

We had two types of service done on our AC. I rated them in the middle only because of the guy who did the yearly maintenance left a bit of a mess after he was done. Otherwise, I would have rated them very high because everything else was great. The first service call was for our AC that no longer produced cold air. The man accurately diagnosed the problem and fixed it for a reasonable price. He was very polite and personable. The second service I scheduled was for yearly maintenance (our first from this company). The guy performed the maintenance and after he left I saw that he left our landscaping in poor shape after he had cleaned out the outside AC unit with our hose. I think it's important to leave landscaping as you found it! We'll use them again because of the trust I now have in them fixing my AC. read more

I would give Welzig a 5 star rating, due to the excellent technician who came to our home - Bob Chrisley - but, I had two cancelled appointments before a technician was able to come by to do the work. The first, the technician ran late with other appointments, and I was not notified; the second, I was notified that the technician would not be coming. Setting aside windows to wait for service technicians is never easy, and while I understand delays, customers should be contacted. That said, Bob Chrisley was excellent, and does not deserve to take the lower rating that I am giving the company overall. He was on time, respectful, and went above and beyond in making sure we understood what he was doing and why and to alert us to possible issues. Thanks Bob! read more

It was a large project requiring them to remove the old unit from the roof, install the new unit, run new wiring through the house, call in an electrician to install a new breaker box... First, love that they give you an hour time frame for service. Unfortunately, the day of service, I was called to move service time after I had already waited during the original service time. But I still appreciated the 1 hour time window versus other HVAC companies that want you to give up 1/2 day to wait for them to arrive. I rescheduled for later in day. Second, I really appreciated Weston's professionalism. He was able to get my A/C unit working for minimal costs. He showed me areas of concern for my AC unit and recommended his company's maintenance program. I found Weston to be sincere and matter of fact about AC unit. I really dislike repairman who only want to replace older units; Weston was focused on getting my current unit working. I don't want to replace it until the repair costs become a waste of money. Thanks, Weston! This was the second company we had come look at unit. The first company sent a repair person who didn't call for help when he didn't know what was wrong with my AC unit and instead gave me a list of all the parts inside the unit that "needed" replaced to get it working as his tactic for pushing a new unit.
