What a find! It's mid-week and we're looking for a place to eat. Tired of the same old places, we have one requirement: something new. Driving up US1, this tiny place catches our eye. Blue Star Taverna. We venture into the unknown. Great choice! I love surprises like this. Almost immediately, our table is filled with salad plates and a basket of the fluffiest warm pita bread. First taste, eggplant salad. Wow! We work our way around the table and try to pick our favorite, but that is not an easy choice. The hummus was, without a doubt, the best I've ever had. We decide to order a whole, fried Branzino and a mixed grill. While we're enjoying the salads, the owner comes over and asks us if we like falafel. Not being big fans, we decline. Two minutes later there's falafel on the table. Another hit! Now we're thinking we found a great new place for lunch. The food arrives (I'm so full, but make room). Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was flawless. We plan to come back on Sat. Night, when there's music, and apparently the place transforms into a very upbeat club. I would say to call for a schedule, because I also noticed a poster showing a singer on Thurs. This seems like the kind of place I can become a regular at. Oh, one more thing...the place is Kosher, which was a surprise. read more
