Last week we hit the jackpot with the wonderful server we had. It is sad that most the time he works in the evening , and most our outing are at lunch. So, this time he was our lunch server . His name was JOSE, I can say, after all the time we eat at that restaurant he was one of the best servers, he had nice personality, we could see that he liked Is job, hope next time I go back , that he will be working, beside the great tuna lunch we had , he completed our nice outing . We had to remind him of the side options that came with our meals, which was surprising. While he was pleasant, the level of service just wasn't what we expected. The food was average and didn't really stand out. We all ordered the three-course special. We started with the tortilla soup and the chili, but both arrived only lukewarm, which was disappointing. For the entrées, my steak was tough, not very tender, and also wasn't served hot. The mashed potatoes were actually the highlight of my plate--they were flavorful and well prepared. The ribs were tender. The salmon entrée was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant wasn't busy during our visit, which made the slow service and long wait for our food even more surprising. We also noticed other tables that had been waiting even longer than we had, with meals taking an unusually long time to come out. Overall, this just wasn't the birthday dinner experience we were hoping for. While the staff was courteous, the slow service and average food make it unlikely that we'll return. Hopefully they're able to improve, because the restaurant has potential, but unfortunately this visit missed the mark for us.
