Being late in the afternoon on Friday I fully assumed I would be leaving my boat at the marina for repairs. Before the tow line was even released someone walked over to assist me in tieing up. He turned out the be the mechanic and within minutes was already at work repairing what turned out to be a fuel line issue. They had all the parts I needed and in less than an hour I was back on the water. Being a bit cynical that I was a captive audience I was assuming the worst when it came time to pay my bill. To my surprise I was charged a very fair price for the parts and labor to repair my boat. Thanks Lakeshore Marina for a job well done and to your mechanic for a great attitude and work ethic. My apologies for not asking his name so i could mention him.

The laundry facilities are good. Didn't use the shower facilities at all so couldn't review those. We have a 39' 5th wheel and had no trouble backing into space 11. The site we have isn't as level as we would have liked but we are making it work. The office, on first glance, isn't very welcoming but the owner is very nice and accommodating. Don't be intimidated by Adeline, the bull mastiff, who is often at the door. She is a big lover dog. The wi-fi is excellent and allows us to stream what we need. (There is no cable and antenna TV gives us 3 channels) We use a JetPak for personal needs. Our Sprint cell service is decent in park, as well. There is a large solar array across the street which tells me this is a pretty sunny spot, which we find to be true. Which is good since we are wintering here this year. We arrived Nov 1 and this was a pretty area in the Fall. We like it here very much and will come back again when we visit our daughter.

This campground is not Big Rig Friendly. After the terrible experience of trying to get into the muddy campsite, we got stuck in the mud trying leave this poor excuse for a campground. We had to call a tow truck to pull us out. Once on the asphalt road, a big rig has to do a three point turn to make a left on 421 from Vanderpool Rd. There needs to be a stop to these terrible campground conditions. The owner has no idea how to properly run a reputable campground and lies to your face about it being big rig friendly. We've been bless to have camped in all 49 continental States and we've never encountered such a dump.

I received a confirmation email, with directions (follow them closely, as it would be very easy to miss the unmarked road). When we arrived, we were escorted to our campsite, which was large, level and fairly secluded. The grounds and facilities are fairly clean and well kept. The only concern was a pack of four dogs who roamed the campground in the morning. They were on the picnic tables and a bit of a nuisance. I mentioned them to the owner. She's aware but apparently not getting support from local authorities, sadly. I'd still recommend this stop as you're exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We love this place, but have to say that we never really feel like they value their repeat customers. every single time we visit the first thing the front desk says is "Is this your first visit?" Very annoying. Not the fault of the person but I find it so odd that they can't see that we have been visiting their many times! I think there has been a lot of turnover and they definite,y have struggled to keep up with the times and customer service has slipped. But...with that said we still will go back for sentimental reasons and hope things improve :).

The living room fireplace was amazing and we had it on constantly. The living room was comfortable and large. The kitchen was a bit small for both of us to work in but it was more than adequate. Both bedrooms were lovely (the king sized bed was super comfortable) and there were plenty of bathrooms to pick from. The sheets and towels were plentiful and plush and it was nice to be able to do laundry. The driveway up to the house was something. Super steep and it made the returns from our walks a bit challenging. And we were glad that it didn't snow to have to tackle it in the ice. The internet was great for keeping up with work but it wasn't sufficient to be able to stream movies or television. But the choices on the satellite TV made up for it. We loved The Getaway and will definiteley be back!

Easy keepers prone to laminitis are carefully limited on their pasture time and kept in either dry lot paddocks or stalls to prevent founder. The barn has good ventilation, is cleaned daily, and is comfortable in both the summer and winter. Horses receive quality hay baled on site. Clean water is available 24/7. A large arena with good sand footing is a joy to ride in. Trail obstacles are also available to play on with the horses. I have peace of mind knowing that Teresa cares for my horse as her own. The many senior horses (20s and 30s) in excellent condition are proof of Teresa's exceptional care.

Had to wait 10 minutes before some showed up to check us in. Took us to our pull through site, which is all grass, and very uneven. Utilities are at very beginning of site and had just enough cord and hose to reach camper. And btw, the septic connection was 10" above ground do hose runs uphill from camper. There are 12 pull through and all of them are permanents except us. . We were right in middle with them coming and going at all hours. Guy next to me let his dog poop right next to my camper and left it.... 2 days in a row. There is a nice good size pond, but no fishing. There is a nice creek that runs edge of property, but can't get to it because of electrified fence. The biggest part of the property is a horse farm with a arena and open fields. Bathhouses are decent and heated .

No common area. Not even an icemaker, for crying out loud! This rather shabby building in need of some refurbishing could have been charming. But it was only a group of rooms with keypads that did not work so well. The room was adequate but the blinds did little to block out the bright spotlight from the neighbors. There was one pithy roll of toilet paper (that ran out) and a tiny wafer of soap. I bought more soap at a nearby shop. I had a phone number of someone to call for any issues and the person who called me to confirm my arrival called from the Philippines. This is exactly why I hate Airbnb's and will not be back here.
