Most PA vineyards and "winery's" are a lot like the proliferation of micro breweries - all the same and all not so great. Certainly there are exceptions. Cellar beast is taking a different approach - bringing west coast grapes to PA and making some spectacular wine. We did the Barrel Surf with the head winemaker, Matt Check. It was great. It is located on top of a mountain and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. I came during the winter and it still looks stunning. I can only imagine how it would be in the summertime. I've been to Napa valley and I would say this rivals the beauty of some of the wineries in Napa. Save your flight money and just come to Pennsylvania to this winery. My wife and I had a tasting and some wines. I liked better than others but that's usually how it is at every winery. I really enjoyed two out of the five wines that I tasted so I bought a bottle of the wine that I loved and I ordered a glass of the wine that I liked. The woman who poured my wine was very knowledgeable and seemed to be really into the wine. She also mentioned that she was a cousin to the owner so it really gave me family vibes in this establishment. They also had a separate cheese company putting together cheese plates. So we definitely ordered that as well. This winery has a couple of goods for sale, potatoes, t-shirts, and tchotchkes. I definitely bought a bag of potatoes that is grown on the farm and they were delicious. Inside the winery there was a very cool vibe with a lot of people having tastings. Everybody was in good spirits. Did I mention that the views are spectacular while you're drinking. We couldn't drink outside because it was so cold but I would definitely love to come during the nicer months weather wise. I have zero complaints with this winery and I cannot wait to come back.

Elizabeth was so accommodating through the entire booking and planning processes as well as the day/night of our wedding. The bridal and groom suites are just as charming as the rows of vineyards, the beautifully restored bank barn, and outdoor patio areas. Our guests were complimentary of the venue the entire evening. We had food trucks for our cocktail hour and dinner and Elizabeth worked with us to ensure the flow from indoor to outdoor and vice versa was easy for our guests. I could not recommend Domaine Pterion enough as a wedding venue. But, if planning a wedding or event isn't in your near future, I highly recommend visiting during tastings on weekends for some good wine, some tasty bites, and a beautiful environment!

We enjoyed our experience so much that we visited twice in the same day, bringing a friend from out of town on the second visit. The interior of the winery is very open and spacious, with plenty of room to breathe, enjoy good conversation, and partake in wine samplings and flights. Plenty of room on the outside porch which wraps around a beautiful looking building with lovely views of the surrounding area. The wine itself was excellent, with many flavorful, nuances and bold individuality. What I like about this winery is that they tend to focus on dry wines, which are my personal favorite, and not some of the sweeter varietals that you'll see at other Pennsylvania wineries. Stand out favorites include the Cabernet Savignon Reserve, the Chardonnay Reserve, Albarino, Flagship Red and Symphony. Honestly, I enjoyed everyone that I tried. There are more than a dozen wineries in the Lehigh Valley that are worth visiting and Stony Run is definitely near the top.
