Three visits to this office, for an ongoing issue with one eye, each expensive and unproductive. Air of condescension and dismissal. Peripheral support was friendly and helpful, 'expert' not so much. Everyone BEWARE! You will have a great experience IF your eyes responds exactly as predicted. IF you aren't one of the lucky ones to be a 'one and done' for Dr. Blue...you will find it extremely difficult to find a resolution. The red carpet pre-op service is done once the bill has been paid. I was laughed at when I explained I was frustrated with my post op vision. I was told "I don't understand, most people are extremely happy at this point in time" I had surgery in March, 2018. I've waited 3 months to see if Dr Blue and his staff could help, went back 3 times (once with a personal promise from Dr Blue that he would see me and not make me wait) spent over 2hrs each on the first 2 visits, waited over an hour for the 3rd visit and finally left. I've been back to my own personal eye doctor twice since my 'procedure' so I can find the right glasses/contacts to help me make it thru the day. So sad Dr. Blue couldn't provide that service as well, instead of dismissing my concerns. I've spend more money after my surgery for corrective vision than I did prior to surgery. I went to Dr. Blue for Lasik for presbyopia. He performed distance vision correction on one eye and close-up correction on the other. A year and a half later, I still need reading glasses. On two different follow-up visits I expressed concern that I could not read most print, but he brushed me off with "oh, your near vision is measuring 20/20." Maybe in the dark reading one letter at a time! But in the real world I still need reading glasses. They told me it would improve with time, but it never did. My biggest concern, however, was the fact that 2 weeks after surgery, he declared that I had dry eye (NEVER had dry eyes before Lasik) and that I needed tear duct plugs. The plugs were TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!!! And by the way, I still have dry eyes and need daily moisturizing drops. I think Lasik CAUSES dry eye. Coincidentally (??!) my Lasik procedure was $4,800, but when I applied for Care Credit through Dr. Blue, I was approved for $6,000. Hey, do the math -- $4,800 surgery plus $1200 = $6,000! A real coincidence. I have personally talked to six people who have had Lasik with Dr. Blue, and every one of them had the same experience with dry eye and expensive tear duct plugs. One of the nurses (who no longer works there) pretty much said that the tear duct plug add-on is standard procedure. I feel like I was taken for a ride. I fell for the radio ads. I would not recommend Blue Laser group. read more

Worse decision I've ever made! Went in wearing bifocals, 18 months later, having to get trifocals and need sunglasses every time I go outside, even on cloudy days. Went to a real doctor that told me Dr. Blue, if you want to call him a doctor, did a botched up job on my eyes. Went to see Blue several times complaining about my vision and the burning pain I was having. His reply every time was everything looks fine, just give it time. The new Doctor I'm seeing now said I should have never been approved, seeing how I already had slight dry eye issues. But now I've been put on restasis, he said for life, and getting trifocals! Everyone please do your research! Look up Lasik complications on Facebook! Googling does not give the info you need. read more

Blue Who?? I also experienced the Red Carpet Treatment while readying for surgery in July 2018. INITIAL Results were better than anticipated. At initial follow-up appointment they tried to get me to say I could see the 20:15 line ... 20:20 was a stretch. Around November/December near vision was degrading noticeably. I called in December and was told my eyes were probably dry and to double up on my eye drops for a month. I called back in February to find out Practice had been sold and Dr Bigles has it. I made a follow up appointment. All this clown would talk about is plugging tear ducts. They no longer have the Gainsville location so I had to drive 3-1/2 hours to see Bigles for 7 minutes and be prescribed $300 eye drops, and be told next step is tear duct plugs. The 1 year guarantee is a sham, and 6 months worth of good vision wasn't worth $5000. The last time I spoke to them I told them I didn't want to spend 7 hours on the road to be jerked around and I wanted to reschedule my appointment to a surgery day when something could actually be done. They said someone would call me.... that was 2 months ago. Save your money or go elsewhere. read more

Had LASIK by Dr Blue ten years ago, and recently had a re-do or enhancement procedure to sharpen my mono vision. Had dry eyes for awhile but temporary tear duct plugs helped. Very efficient and everyone was nice. read more

I just had my LASIK done one week ago. Firstly, do your research! There are so many different laser manufacturers out there. The ophthalmologist does so little - so you're putting a lot of faith in the laser's itself. Dr. Blue has Intra-lase technology to make the flap with a laser as opposed to a small blade. Then Allegretto Wave that does the correction is also very popular in the industry and not as customized as some but is extremely accurate and reliable. I had 20/15 vision five days out and have mild dry eye that is resolving rapidly as the steroid and antibiotic drops taper. Of course the risks are all there, but Dr Blue has done thousands of successful procedures. Everyone of his office staff has done it (of course) but are willing to answer any tough questions. The day of surgery you get a muscle relaxer (diazepam) and the procedure literally take 10 minutes. They will provide you with a ride to Gainesville where the equipment is if you ask. Your eye is desensitized for the procedure and Dr. Blue talks you through everything. My eyes throbbed after I got home but he provides you with pain meds and I slept like a baby through the night. The redness is slowly resolving and my vision is better than it ever was with contacts and glasses. I'm finally free of them forever and can enjoy the summertime and my wedding without the hassle. Dr. Blue's not dirt cheap but his equipment is very reliable and he is very good at his craft. If he tries to rush you at all, stop and ask all of the questions you want. He even talked with my Dad on the phone for reassurance. And he calls you the afternoon after surgery to check in and schedules multiple free follow-up visits. I was so scared and am now so happy that I went ahead with it. Freedom! read more

I just spent almost 3hrs. at Dr. Blue Laser Groupe . My appointment was at 10:15. After one hour I got to go back for a couple of test that took maby 15 minutes. At that time I was told to go back to main waiting room and they would call me soon! At 12:45 I asked if I had been forgotten? After being told I would be next, I decided to ask for my records and find a Dr. that cares about me and my time and just not my MONEY! My eyes have been messed up since my procedure with Dr. Blue And his only option is to spend Thousands of dollars for tear ducts. I urge everyone that is thinking about letting Dr. Blue do any kind of procedure on you or a loved one, to talk with someone that has had the procedure done and not with people that Dr. Blue recommends you call!! I had LASIK performed almost 2 months ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Dr. Richard Blue and his entire staff are wonderful and took such good care of me before, during, and after the procedure! It was quick and easy and was amazed that I could see as soon as I sat up!!
