Thank you, Courtney, for helping me see properly again. My daughter, Vyvyan, thanks you, too.

I received an unusable prescription for glasses. Customer service to deal with the problem was nonexistent. They would not return my calls.

I was referred to Dr. Jing Dong and he did a wonderful job removing my cataract. However, the…read moreentire front office staff and a few of the RN's are very unwelcoming and borderline rude. On the day of our visit, we were instructed to return at 2:15 for a follow up. We arrived and the parking lot was overly full, forcing people to park in the driveway. I got out and walked inside, while my wife was stuck in the driveway because an elderly lady was confused and driving the wrong direction in the parking lot. One of the RN's was pushing a discharge patient in a wheelchair down the exterior walkway and proceeded to engage in a rude and unprofessional exchange with my wife because she assumed my wife was blocking the driveway for no good reason. My wife pointed out that the elderly lady was blocking people from entering the parking lot and then the RN got angry and proceeded to yell at my wife before moving on with her patient. I have worked in healthcare 30 years and have never had a rude or unprofessional exchange with any visitors. The fact that Dr. Dong's staff clearly are not concerned with being professional and courteous is the reason we will not return and will share our experience with others. There is no excuse for staff to conduct themselves this way at any level.

He never asked my concerns, my reason for being there, and had not read my chart. When I began to…read moretell him that I have ocular rosacea, he interrupted me and practically shouted, "You have rosacea all over your face, not just your eyes!" Had he kept his mouth shut and listened to his patient (me), he would have discovered that I KNOW THAT. However, It has only recently started affecting my eyes. He continued to interrupt me the entire time, so I gave up. His bedside manner is horrible, and I left with NO treatment plan other than to come back in a year. I will never go back because there are much better ophthalmologists out there. Once home, I read all the bad reviews on health grades regarding his lack of skill in performing eye surgery. I wonder how many of his patients had symptoms they wanted to discuss with him but were too afraid to speak up due to his dismissive, antagonistic personality. Dr. Dong, it would serve you well to listen to your patients and take a class in bedside manners.

So I was in Athens, GA for my Fall Break from school and I needed new contacts BADLY. I knew that…read moremy prescription had expired quite some time ago, so I figured I would need one of those as well. Being the procrastinator that I am (I'm a college student. What can I say?) I took the risk of calling the morning I was leaving town to return to school. I was sure they would tell me that I was going to have to come back to Athens another time, but they didn't! I was so amazed. I went to Thomas Eye Center right away and I wasn't even through filling out the paperwork before they were leading me into the room to start the exam. The people there were so nice to me and didn't make me feel bad about calling at the last second. And they really knew what they were doing! I've been to a lot of optometrists in my day, and no one has ever been has comforting and easy to work with as these guys. Especially the doctor, Dr. Noriko. She was younger, maybe mid twenties, but was obviously very knowledgable and trustworthy. I honestly probably would have let her touch my eyeball if she needed to, I had that much faith in her. And she was calming. Being in any kind of doctor's office makes me a little uneasy, but her voice was really soothing and pleasant to listen to, and she put me right at ease. The doctors there were very efficient. I must have been in and out of there in 45 minutes. Or, at least, I would have been if my father hadn't needed to speak to the lady handling the insurance and money issues. He can be a little wearing when it comes to money, but she was very patient and kind with him, which I admire. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be going anywhere else for my optical necessities. I want to tell everyone I know in the Athens area to go to Thomas Eye Center on Baxter St., and don't forget to ask for Dr. Noriko!!

Seems more expensive than other similar services in the area Very expensive for sending replacement glasses if you need them mailed in the US---I was told overnight delivery to a US address would be $80-$100 , so we used US Postal Service overnight for $34 (and that included $200 insurance).
