The strawberry fields are large and the entrance was a breeze. You usually have to speak with a salesperson for a box at other places. The rules are just like most of the other u-pick fields. I really enjoyed the popsicles they sold at their barn. I can't wait to return with my toddler. My 3 year old understands the rules and has thoroughly enjoyed her experience here.
4.5 rounded up Such a cute place and great experience! The U-pick is very straight forward. You follow the signs, grab a box and get picking! We picked for about 45-ish minutes as a group of 6 and ended up with like 20 lbs lol everyone had so much fun finding and picking the perfectly red strawberries. We then go to the store to weigh and pay. What's nice is the store is like a one stop farmers market with the other fresh vegetables and plants including flowers, lettuce, spinach, leek, etc. They also partner with a bakery and have pastries and breads. The works are friendly and the produce is well priced and packaged. I'd do the drive (45-60 min) just to come buy from the market. Lastly the strawberries were DELICIOUS. Sweet and juicy. (Con: $7/lb for strawberries is steep especially with the grocery sales ... but it's great for an outdoor family experience.)
Great location and great service!! The field was HUGE I love how you can purchase other veggies that were grown by the farm! My bf and I went to go strawberry picking mid-June on a Saturday at around 2pm and there wasn't too big of a crowd which is great since Brentwood is usually very crowded. They also had restrooms which is a plus! It is a great spot for a cute date or family day! We brought the fresh strawberries we picked to the beaches nearby to eat. Only reason why I give it a 4 star instead of 5 is because the strawberries were not very sweet. It might be because they weren't ripened yet? Either way, it's a great u-pick! Go check it out if you ever plan a trip to Half Moon Bay :)
U-Pick strawberry picking is such a fun, interactive activity to do with friends and family! In searching for something a little different to do, we came to Blue House Farm (1 hr from SF) to try picking our own strawberries for the very first time. Upon arrival around 12:30 PM on a Saturday, we saw plenty of parking spots in their lot. We walked right into the berry picking area, which had a bunch of boxes at the front for customers to grab and put your strawberries in. In general, they charge $7/lb or strawberry, but with no farm entrance fee or anything! There were plenty of people picking strawberries on the day we went, but there were also plenty of strawberries to be picked. They suggest you only pick the ripe strawberries, which were all a really beautiful red color. At the end, our party of four picked over 7 lbs of strawberries to take home with us. Blue House Farm also sells pre-picked strawberries and other produce/flowers in their barn where you pay. We didn't pick up anything extra, but everything looked incredibly fresh. Also, noting that they only have porta potty bathrooms and sink at the farm. I highly recommend Blue House Farm for U-Pick strawberries. We tried our freshly picked berries at home and they were so sweet and juicy - so much better than anything store bought. Overall, we had a lot of fun at the farm and would definitely return.
Happy that this place had pumpkins! 4 stars because I've definitely seen a much wider variety of pumpkins at other locations. Good selection of orange pumpkins and butternut squash. Strawberry picking is still open, but from what I saw, there's very slim pickings. Pricing for pumpkins was alright; priced by size and the butternut squash was by weight. Spent $12 on 4 pumpkins.

Rows and rows of healthy plants/strawberries, great produce to buy, along with meats and Rosalinda breads and sweets. Love this one stop shop right off of 1. My family and I recently drove out to Half Moon Bay for a little excursion. Right on the coast is Blue House Farm with its U-pick strawberry field. The organic strawberries they grew were incredibly sweet, juicy, and clean. It's a great spot for anyone looking to pick fresh strawberries with a very family oriented atmosphere. We picked enough strawberries to make homemade strawberry jam, strawberry lemonade, and pies which turned out nice and fresh. I highly recommend visiting this farm!
Blue House Farm is the type of place you want to visit every Saturday! This farm is among a few u-pick farms in the area. We were recommended this farm by a friend and it was a great experience! It was super family- and Covid-friendly You park and get a box to put your strawberries in. You walk through the fields and at your leisure gently pick strawberries off the vines. Fill as many boxes as you like. Then in the barn they weigh your berries for $6/pound. In the barn there are other fruits and veggies that are grown there, as well as local jams for you to take home. During the summer months they have Strawberries every Saturday. In the fall they also have a pumpkin u-pick. Would definitely return again!
We came with some friends two weekends ago and picked some delicious strawberries. Not every single one you pick will be sweet, BUT, every single one will feel like your blood sweat and tears went into it (even though ya really did one of the easiest parts haha), and therefore taste amazing. No really though, these strawberries are so fragrant, so even the ones that aren't super sweet taste sooo fresh and fruity. And it doesn't hurt to add a little whipped cream on em! After tasting a lot of sizes and colors, we've deduced that the darker red ones are the sweetest. As for size, usually larger is sweeter but some small ones were sweet too. We can't wait to come back next season to pick more! We picked about 1.5 pounds for us and another pound for a friend, and we ate through the 1.5 pounds way too fast. Parking is in the back when you arrive, and you pay at one the barns up front after picking your strawberries. They have boxes available for you to use to pick the fruit. They're also taking covid precautions by having parties go in rows that don't have other groups. It wasn't crowded when we went so that was really nice! Lots of strawberries to pick from!
About a 45 min drive from Palo Alto sits this humble farm in the mountains of San Gregorio. We visited this farm on Saturday, the weekend of Halloween. There were still plenty of pumpkins to choose from in the field, but there were also pre-picked pumpkins at the barn ready for purchase. There were wheelbarrows available for easy pumpkin hauling. We really enjoyed our time going through the field searching for pumpkins. The pumpkins were priced by size: mini pumpkins were $3, medium were $10, and so on so forth. Inside the barn, there were other produce items for sale such as kale, turnips, beets, carrots, etc. All organic! I was surprised to find such quality beets (and their greens) for $3.50 a bunch-what a steal! All in all, a great experience. The produce is definitely top quality, and it's wonderful being able to support local! Highly recommend a visit if you get the chance!

This is one of several U-Pick + fresh farmstand concepts in the area. I tried a couple of the strawberries in the field to decide if I wanted to commit to picking a full basket. I don't know if I came too early in the season or if their strawberries were just not good because the strawberries were definitely on the watery/sour end and did not taste that good overall. I don't think I would return especially when there are better and more proven options just down the coastline. read more

We recently went strawberry picking with our two-year-old and had a fantastic time. The farm has a huge patch where you can pick as many strawberries as you like, and the price is very reasonable. Beyond the strawberries, they also offer other organic vegetables and snacks. Just be aware that they only have portable restrooms. read more
Super fun weekend outing from the bay area, the route there is scenic and the farm has rows of fresh strawberries to pick from. The ones closer to the entrance were great quality and the flavor of the strawberries has the right balance of juicy, sweet, and sour. If you know which flavor your prefer it's easy to spot in the field and overall lots of fun. They're open for the rest of the weekends in September, so def stop by before the season's over. read more

Blue House Farm had a great variety of vegetables today at the Clement Street Farmers Market. In addition to Greens, Carrots, Fennel etc , the also had some beautiful Romanesco Started in 2005 the farm covers over 70 acres of Fruit, Vegetables & Flowers. read more

Blue house farm is such a hidden gem. Located a bit south of Half Moon Bay, it's relatively easy to get to from the Peninsula and probably the closest u-pick strawberry field around. I've frequented their vegetable stands at various farmers markets around the Bay before, so I was super excited when I found out they have a u-pick strawberry. Strawberries are $7/lb (no entrance fee or minimum), but I guarantee it's some of the sweetest, freshest strawberries you'll ever have. Plus it's worth it just for the fun experience overall! Their farm is very well-maintained and there's plenty of fruit. Other strawberry farms I've been to in the area seem to be overrun with people, which makes it hard to find ripe fruit. Blue house farm does close their farm when they are out of ripe fruit to avoid that type of situation, so I'd definitely recommend checking their website or Instagram before heading over to make sure they are open. While you're there, make sure to grab some fresh veggies and flowers from the farm shed. Their flowers are so beautiful, though as a warning to allergy sufferers it is fresh cut flowers so pollen did drop all over the place - at least the particular bouquet I got had that issue. Their shishito peppers are so fresh and yummy compared to the ones in the grocery store. If you can't stop by the farm, be sure to look out for their stand at your nearby farmers market for super fresh vegetables! read more

We brought the grand daughters there to pick berries. A great time had by all. Plenty to do you the family. Moms can even get pointers on making jam. ( but I do recommend Pinterest website. They picked Blue berrie strawberries, blackberries & of course the famous Ollieberry. The girls had fun and also brought home fresh carrots still with the green tops. It's a great place to bring young kids. Perfect outing. read more
First time picking strawberries and had the best experience. Came here on a Sunday afternoon during COVID. Parking was easy. Not too many people. Masks enforced. I like how they have you first wash your hands then go picking. $5 per pound. You can by credit or cash if cash, self -weigh and self-pay honor system. Gf had gone strawberry picking in the past in Brentwood and had a much better experience this time! (Probably cuz she didn't go with me last time!) read more

Came here while on a date with my partner to HMB. The drive is right by the beach, so extremely scenic. Strawberries were $6/lb and I would suggest starting on the other side of the patch where it's not as picked over. We came half an hour or so before closing and they had lots to be picked up still! Very fun and affordable activity for all age groups. Inside where they weigh for you to pay, there's also a plethora of vegetables and merchandise you can buy. The girl behind the register was extremely nice and helpful. Also told us that this is actually the smaller baby farm to their giant farm! Would come here weekly if it wasn't so far from me - maybe a monthly trip? read more

Awesome little family farm in a beautiful area. The location is simply unbeatable. The steady cool breeze blowing over the farm will make you go 'let me take you down 'cause I'm going to' as soon as you jump out of your car. We were there with our family to go U-picking on a Sunday afternoon, so there were very few ripe berries remaining on the plants. They are an organic farm, so you pay a little extra but the produce looked really fresh. There are portable toilets in the parking area as well. read more

Great alternative to going all the way to Swanton berry farm. We detoured here with the original intention to go there and cut our drive by a bit. Prices are slightly lower here than Swanton and the strawberry plants are less abused (hence bigger berries that have actually had time to ripen). Additionally, it's not a zoo even during the primetime of the afternoon, and they have other types of organic veggies and fruits (i.e. kohlrabi, kale, giant potatoes, etc) that are in baskets in the farm stand that you pay at. As for berries, you weigh your own strawberries and pay by honor system, if there are questions, ask the attendant. Overall, great experience because we had our infant daughter with us and didn't want to be overrun with crowds and stressed families. Pros: All of the above Cons: The drive is a bit of a pain in the ass -- we ended up here by accident taking the wrong road. You have been warned -- it's winding and not for those of you who get carsick or are afraid of driving on narrow mountain roads. read more
We did U pick strawberries here on Jul 4th, 2020. There were rows and rows of strawberries, with many ripe ones, certainly enough for everyone who came. There were about 15-20 parties and many more rows of strawberries! Very clean, they have a washing station outside to wash your hands before you go in. Yes, they're open during Covid and during Jul 4th! Very friendly staff, seems to be run by a group of young people. There's a bagel bus parked outside with benches and tables for seating that's super cute. We didn't get the bagels as we had just eaten but it seems like a nice place to picnic when it's not so sunny. I don't find the strawberries extremely large, you get some large ones and some medium sized ones, but they all tasted amazing, sweet and ripe. Even my son who doesn't like strawberries thinks they're good. Unlike one reviewer said, you don't pay by honor system, maybe they've changed. Now they weigh everything and it's $5/lb today. read more

Really wonderful quaint place. I drove over today to get away from San Jose a bit and pick some yummy strawberries. While my lot wasn't as big, it was satisfying and I will be using them for some nice treats. The protocols in place make for a safe time provided you follow them. There's a hand washing station and you must be masked to pick the fruit. Once you're done, head back inside the barn and you'll be greeted by LOTS of fresh vegetables. I even found lemon cucumbers! Everything looked great and you are supporting local agriculture, win win. There's also popsicles, drinks, and flowers. Something everyone! Oh and the bagel truck outside! I didn't try it but hope I can later on. Really neat place, I hope I'll return soon! ONLY OPEN SATURDAY + SUNDAY 12-6 PM!! read more
Went back on July 18. This is my FAVORITE strawberry picking farm. There were many many rows of strawberries and most were ripe. I presume those who went a month or so later could not pick as many. Very fun event to do with s/o or family especially during covid. The bundle in this photo was around $7 read more

We came on a Saturday around 1pm. There were plenty of beautiful, big, ripe, juicy organi strawberries. My children were super excited to see these huge strawberries and picked 14lbs! Will definitely come back for more upick! read more

There are three ways to experience Blue House Farm's stellar selection of organic and heirloom strawberries, vegetables, and fruits, all grown on the San Mateo coast by a small but dedicated crew of committed growers. You can sign up for a weekly CSA shipment, which you can pick up from a range of Bay Area locations. You can also find their products at weekend Farmers' Markets, such as the Saturday market at the College of San Mateo. Or, you can visit the self-serve farm stand and u-pick strawberry fields, which are located in the tiny town of San Gregorio, near the intersection of Highway 1 and CA-84 (La Honda Road). It's open in season starting each spring in May on weekends from 11am-6pm. It's a pretty scenic spot, definitely a working farm but with lots of attractive, rustic touches. The farm stand itself is a quaint, blue-colored structure that contains vegetables and fruits for sale, including scales, plastic bags, a cash box, and a notebook for entering your purchases. Most items cost $5 or less, and they include whatever is in season. Kohlrabi. Beets. Carrots. Lettuce. Kale. Chard. Strawberries. Spinach. Once summer starts, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, eggplant, and other products enter the mix, and in fall there are pumpkins, squash, beans, and more. The farm stand makes a great stop as part of a day trip to the San Mateo coast between Half Moon Bay to the North and Pescadero to the South. The U-Pick fields here are smaller than at Swanton Berry Farm, and there aren't desserts, jams, coffee, preserves, or other items for sale. The setup is also smaller than at Pie Ranch, near Ano Neuvo State Park, but there are picnic tables, a restroom, and plenty of parking, so you can include a rest stop here before continuing your way. On a recent visit over the Mother Day's weekend, we picked up a few pounds of kohlrabi to include in a parsnip, fennel, and miso soup, a few heads of fresh lettuce, and a bunch of crunchy carrots. Usually, we shop the Blue House stall at the San Mateo farmers' market, and we were CSA members for several years when Blue House was in its former location in Pescadero. The farm stand allows people unfamiliar with Blue House Farm to try a few things, pick some berries, and spend $10 or less for their goodies. Especially in springtime, the surrounding hills are gorgeous, and the beaches along the coast beckon. Consider stopping here the next time you're passing through the area! read more

I was looking to go cherry picking but apparently the farms in the area are closed for the season. I heard about the strawberry farms and decided to visit this one. Spent an hour here this afternoon with some friends and picked many pounds. The berries are great and don't miss the popsicle with real berries on the way out. Found the price per pound a little pricey but worth it. read more

This is one of those bittersweet reviews, they deserve it but it also means the farm will get busier, which isn't great for me personally. But they deserve it. Was looking to go strawberry picking close to the Peninsula and stumbled this gem while searching online. We visited the morning of Mother's Day and had the best time with my young family. Their field was gorgeous (though not too big), well kept and not busy at all! The scenery is amazing. They also had a super cute blue house with baskets full of fresh organic produce. It's all on the honor system, you write down what you picked/bought and leave the money. Please be a decent, honest human being that you are and leave money for what you take and support their business. I hope to bring my kiddos for many more future visits! Thank you Blue Farm. read more
