Wow what a great operation! Lots going on. Pie ranch also works with the community and schools, hosts a day of activity like cooking in the outdoor kitchen and baking pies together. Special event and education. 2025 = 20 year anniversary! There's a barn store right in front with free parking, drop in to get some pies, cheese twists, pastries, flower bouquets fresh cut and arranged flowers from farm close by, apparel, beans, jams, merch. You're free to walk toward the back and around the farm too any day it's open to the public. If you have time why not look around *fun fact! Farm is shaped like a pie, that's why there are areas called "upper slice" and "lower slice"

Frozen options. Seem a tad pricey.

Maybe I visited at the wrong time (an hour before closing), but there really many options available--only Chocolate Chess Pie. The Chocolate Chess Pie itself was fairly impressive though. But the lack of pretty much everything else (fresh and not frozen) was disappointing, especially when you've committed to driving almost 2hrs to visit Pie Ranch for the first time ever. I get it, I visited an hour before closing, but the closing time is 4pm and it's a trek to visit this location. Please have more inventory? Besides the pies, not much else were there other than gear, which seemed rather pricey. I'd visit and try again but at a much, much earlier time.

Delicious!! Amazing Pies. Great customer service. I tried the Chocolate chess cutie pie and the Lemon Blueberry buttermilk cutie pie. It is a Definite must stop by when you're in the area.

Always love stopping in at Pie Ranch when cruising down Highway 1 from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz! While of course they have their namesake pies, it's actually all the other locally made goods that I love to shop. They typically have a nice variety of teas, jams, other canned food goods, cocktail mixes, pottery, and fresh fruits and vegetables. A great place to shop around for anyone who loves to host or spend time in the kitchen. I've only tried a couple of their baked goods over the years, but my mom typically gets a treat or two when we stop in. They usually have a few different options for sweet, savory, and even a vegan or gluten free treat as well. The baked goods are pretty pricey, but it is a very small and local operation, and everything is super fresh.

Driving down Hwy One toward Santa Cruz, I've seen the sign over the years and was momentarily curious what a pie ranch could be like (photo: https://yelp.to/Ykk1f4XVJv). Jamie W and I finally stopped by one morning when we were staying at Costanoa nearby because who doesn't want a slice of homemade pie in the middle of nowhere? The building visitors first enter is an elevated barn. Sure enough, there were pies and other baked items in their display case. But there was a lot of local goods as well - fresh produce, jams and juices, crushed tomatoes, earthenware, T-shirts, handmade household items. We stuck with the pie and had the $9 Lemon Blackberry Buttermilk Cutie Pie which was perfectly sized for two appetites (photo: https://yelp.to/-Qfn-OQ3HZ). It was creamy tasty and not too sweet or tart. The $3 cup of coffee was a bit on the lukewarm side but still provided a nice complement (photo: https://yelp.to/Opxwb-sSfx). It looked like most people just came in and out of the building and hit the road again. That's too bad because the owners welcome visitors to explore their 14-acre farm which is ironically shaped like a slice of pie. We walked on the dirt road behind the building and read the educational signs that explained the genesis of Pie Ranch's sustainable farm and unique food system education and advocacy non-profit organization. We saw hearty rows of produce and plenty of livestock including goats and chickens who lived in a mobile coop. I heard they do Outstanding in the Field here. That would be cool (review: https://yelp.to/Xr5WnOj92b). RELATED - Exploring the Pacific side of the SF peninsula? Here's my collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/3aiDR9I

I love this place.I came here today and got their miniature lemon, blueberry cream pie n it was delicious The service is always friendly and I think they bake the pies on site.I recommend this place

Pie Ranch offers brownies, berry pies, and savory baked goods too! Got the strawberry galettes during my recent visit, and they were enjoyable snack-sized treats, the pastry light and flaky, the strawberry filling delicious and the fruit not too sweet. Staff communication and energy was minimal, but he rang me up quickly and handed me my order, no problem. They have both indoor and outdoor seating in a foresty picnic area, quite simple and charming. And there are about 6-8 parking spaces on site for convenience.

Pie Ranch is further down the coast from Pescadero and a great pit stop to pick up fresh baked pies. I came down pretty late in the day and was able to get the last blueberry lemon pie (delicious!). They had a few chocolate pies for sale as well. If you can't get their fresh pies in time, they also have frozen pies you can purchase. Pie Ranch is a working farm selling not just pies, but also fruits, produce, florals and souvenir items. They have quite some land that you can tour yourself and walk around to enjoy nature and their animals.

We stopped here after hiking the Ano Nuevo State Park trail, so this was a good surprise as we were very hungry. They had plenty of pies - large ones, mini ones, and frozen ones. They also have bread, coffee, plenty of fresh produce, eggs, and other items like jams, hot sauce, and other merchandise. We got the mini pies--lemon berry and walnut. Both were really good; I personally liked the lemon flavor better. There are also a few picnic tables outside to relax and enjoy the treats.

Great breads, especially the seeded loaf! We also like the salt-dusted chocolate cookies. Expert tip. Go after 4pm for their happy hour prices. Another tip: call to reserve what you want/need since they do frequently sell out

This place is a hidden gem, and I'm not sure I want to write a recommendation for it! But that's not the Yelper way:) Most people probably miss it, driving right past the location. Cute little spot for some pie and coffee. Not a huge selection of pies, but I guarantee the pie you select is going to be so good! I'm a big Dutch apple pie fan, and of course, they did not have this so I opted for a mini Keylime pie and it was so delicious! I also went with a cold brew coffee, which came in this nice little bottle! Also, amazing! They provide small plates and utensils, so you can eat outside on the benches. they have cute, random merchandise as well! Good customer service, too! If you're ever in the area, it's worth stopping by! Will definitely be back.

One of my favorite places for pie! They run out pretty quickly so either to eat you go super early or call in advance for pie. I love that they don't always have the same pie so it's a great mix of variety. I also love that they have fresh produce, jam, bread, and more selections to choose from so that it's not just for pies. Definitely place to check out !

Covid precautions in place. Pies sold out by lunchtime on a weekday. Jams/preserves were just ok.

We were about 95% sold on one in Napa but had one last appointment at The Ranch at Silver Creek. I was hesitant and almost canceled but my husband convinced me to go check it out. AND I AM SO GLAD I LISTENED TO HIM! We both fell in love with the venue. It literally had everything we were looking for: a scenic outdoor ceremony site with a backup plan if it rained (since our wedding was in March), separate area for the cocktail hour, a nice reception hall, a HUGE bar, a patio and ample parking. Plus it was close to home for planning and our families coming from out of the country. Not only was it the venue that did it for us, it was the wedding team at The Ranch at Silver Creek. We met with Ingrid who was the absolute best and was one of the huge reasons we booked it. (Sadly, she is no longer there and doing her own thing!) Yet, the team still was amazing throughout the whole process. The planning was made easy and getting into contact with them was quick with fast response times. The customization of the package, being able to choose the foods, (SO GOOD!), the 8 assorted salads and prime rib were the hit of the party!! Being able to add anything we wanted or take out made this whole planning experience so easy. The only complaint I had was there was a couple appointments where they gave us the wrong time/date so we would have to call in to confirm but that was it! Coming down to the day of, our wedding coordinator and banquet captain were, Nicole and Megan. I cannot express how much my husband and I loved their support to make the big day what we wanted. Nicole was AMAZING! She made the whole day so comfortable, knew what I wanted before I did, and even though we were a little late with getting them our decorations, she made it happen! Her energy and positive vibe made it so fun for my wedding party! I did not want her to leave because I felt like I wouldn't know what to do without her but she had everything down to the tea! Megan was also AMAZING! She handled everything till the end with our decorations, making sure we were taken care of and handled the little details. She also had the help of Olivia who was also very sweet and attentive to us. I was telling everyone that night they need to book their wedding here just because of these women! It was great to have them there for the extra support especially on a big day. They truly care to see you are having the best experience, staying hydrated and fed but also comfortable. I keep telling my husband that I want to relive this moment with the same exact people because it truly was such a beautiful and fun night! You will not go wrong with booking this venue!!

We ended up using Flower Divas (WW partner), Central Coast Entertainment (WW partner) and we used our own vendors for photo/video and dessert and Wedgewood had no problem with it! Our guests also raved about the stunning venue and the food. We also chose this venue for its convenient location - we had a lot of out of town guests and the venue was a short uber from DTSJ and also close to the freeway (but without the noise!). I think I had more details in mind and a larger guest size than some brides but the Wedgewood planning team was always super enthusiastic and all in on wanting to make our wedding day as perfect as can be! Most of my planning meetings were with Monica and Sarah and they were always well-prepared and so on top of it! I honestly really enjoyed going over the wedding planning details with them, we were on the same level of being organized haha. Teresa was our day-of coordinator and Nicole was our banquet captain and we were really happy working with them as well! We're also really happy that they're a dog-friendly venue and we're grateful we got to get married with our dog by our side. She's sick and it was such a special experience to be able to enjoy part of the wedding day with her, and I want to give a special shoutout to Wedgewood for being super flexible and understanding of our dog's situation! I would highly recommend Wedgewood to a couple who is looking for good value! I don't think you need a wedding planner if you go with Wedgewood, but you will need to be on top of your own details!

Putting aside the price itself, the far bigger issue was how incredibly rude and dismissive she was toward my wife during the conversation. After we expressed concerns, we were referred to the General Manager. I emailed the GM and heard absolutely nothing for over a week despite leaving multiple voicemails. After trying a third time, I finally received a return phone call. I was told my email was never received. We explained how poorly the event coordinator treated us and that we had specifically been directed to management. Initially, the GM seemed understanding. She spoke about how small the kitchen is and how larger parties can impact other guests' experiences. She said she'd try to help, recommend alternative venues if needed, and asked me to email details again. I thought we were finally making progress. Then things somehow got worse. After sending the email, I received what was obviously an accidental phone call. During the call, the GM appeared to be speaking with a colleague and was talking negatively about me for absolutely no reason. I heard comments about how she receives lots of emails and assumes many are spam until someone sends a second email, and that she handles voicemails similarly. Hearing that level of disregard for guests regardless of how serious or beneficial the inquiry might be for the business was honestly shocking. At that point, any chance of earning our business disappeared. Even if I receive an apology, I will never spend a dollar at this establishment. The ownership seriously needs to evaluate the management team because I've never felt so disrespected by a restaurant in my life. Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. Unfortunately can't say anything about the food and never will.

The restaurant had a nice visual ambience, but also felt casual as there was a lot of chatter, which isn't a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Our waiter was especially friendly and helped us decide what to order. I really wish I could remember his name, as I'm posting this a bit late, but he was a huge reason why we had a great experience! Here's a quick rating on the food itself: Stuffed mushrooms (3.5/5): This was recommended by the waiter as a favorite among patrons. The mushrooms weren't bad or anything, but for some reason, it gave me combination pizza vibes that I wasn't expecting. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again personally. Bone-in ribeye (5/5): an amazing cut that was cooked perfectly. Exactly what you would expect from a good steakhouse. The compound butter was fantastic! Bone-in apricot glazed pork chop (3.5/5): this one may hit different for different folks. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy, but the apricot glaze was definitely a little too sweet for our palettes. If you're looking for something more savory, I might try something else. But hey, sweet might be your thing too! Caramel popcorn sundae (4.5/5): we got this one complimentary for being our special day, which was a really nice surprise! And it was a full serving! This one was obviously sweet, but surprisingly more subdued than it sounds, which was really nice! Overall, it was truly a memorable night with great food. And though some things didn't quite work for our palettes, I can totally see that it may for others--so that didn't impact my ratings because they were still good--just not for us. That said, the care that we received on our anniversary was what truly made me land on a 5/5 rating. Definitely coming back for future special occasions!

While in school, I learned a lot about farm-fresh food and what that exactly meant. Apparently once…read moreyou've tasted produce straight from the vine, you'll never go back. But as a kid, I never really had the opportunity to visit a farm or even grow my own fruits and vegetables. Living in constant suburbia meant frequent trips to Ralph's or Safeway. That all changed last Sunday when I picked my very own strawberries with my girlfriend at Swanton Berry Farm. After hearing my boss boast about picking 12 pounds (!!!) of the juiciest and most delicious strawberries, I knew I had to go. And what better person to take then my girlfriend who was a HUGE fan of strawberries. So Swanton Berry Farm is a local supplier of fresh and organic fruits along the beautiful coasts of Northern California. They have two locations for Berry picking: Coastways Ranch is next to Ano Nuevo State Park (which you should go to!) and The Farm Stand is a bit further south right outside Davenport. The main difference between the two is that the latter is only open for picking on weekdays (although you can purchase stuff everyday) whereas Coastways is accessible during the weekends from 10am-5pm. Really sweet deal since you can pretty much pick during any day of the week! We ended up visiting Coastways Ranch since it was a Sunday. Getting here was actually kind of a doozy for us. Though the drive was very scenic, it took a little over an hour from the South Bay Area. And that's because the only "quick" way to the coast was south on Highway 17 and back north up Highway 1. GPS came in handy, and there were fortunately signs directing where to go. If y'all get lost, just note that the ranch is around 10 miles north of Davenport. Besides the drive, hardest part was making into the parking lot because it's about a half mile of unpaved dirt. Have to drive slow otherwise you'll go into a ditch! Now if all this sounds too stressful, hear me out; it was SO WORTH THE JOURNEY. Once we got out of the car, we were greeted by ROWS UPON ROWS of strawberries - far as my tiny eyes could see. Immediately after we got our sturdy box from the stand, we washed our hands (there's a station) and immediately started picking as many as we could. Because we came right in the middle of the season (around summer), the strawberries were SO AMAZING. They came in all kinds of sizes. Some were a bit riper than others, so there was plenty of variety to choose from. We were allowed to sample however much we wanted before paying as long as we didn't waste anything. And by golly I filled my tummy and our box like no tomorrow because these were HANDS DOWN BAR NONE the BEST strawberries I've ever had in my life. The size, sweet taste, and color - these characteristics were so different and much more authentic compared to what you'd find in the store. For example, these strawberries were much smaller since they weren't pumped with growth hormones. True to what I'd learned in school, I'll probably never look at store bought strawberries again. After an hour of picking, we pretty much filled our entire box. It came out to be about 4 freaking pounds so use that as a measuring stick. I highly recommend only getting as much as you can eat in like a week since these suckers go bad FAST (or just freeze). Cost was $5 a pound ($4.5 if you get over 10 pounds) so we paid around $19. The guy at the stand actually gave me more money back in change, and I thought that was VERY generous of him! Farmers are a godsend I tell y'all. Truth be told, I never really cared about strawberries until my experience at Swanton Berry Farm. Sure, I thought they were really nice fruits but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them. Now, however, I am SO DOWN to drive over an hour to pick strawberries because Coastways Ranch and Swanton Berry Farm were definitely worth an "Omg, I'd travel 2 hours for this" rating. Have fun and prosper,

BAD experience. Not…read morebecause the strawberries are small and not sweet (Kinda expected that because it's not strawberry season) BUT because they are DISHONEST. Got 8 strawberries only because the strawberries weren't that sweet, went to pay, got charged HALF A POUND ($5/lb, 0.5lb for $2.5). Found it really weird that 8 small strawberries costs $2.5. Went home and weighed it, found that the 8 strawberries weighs only 0.172 pound!!!!! (See pic - adjusted for the tare weight) So that means they OVERCHARGED me!

The Seal World This…read moreis our second time doing this Elephant Seal Tour here at Año Nuevo and we had a great time both times--despite never catching the peak either time. The tour guides/docents are well-informed, friendly and keep the tour interesting. If you're even remotely interested in nature then this tour is highly recommended and a great thing to bring out-of-town guests to. Here's a few tips to help you plan your tour: *Plan ahead and schedule your tours early thru the Reserve California website: https://bit.ly/3HvTcn7 *Tickets are $7/per person w/ an additional $4/per "registration fee." *Tours begin in November and end in March, but peak season is mid-Jan to mid-Feb. *Wear hiking boots if possible, as you'll be marching along (possibly) wet sand for most of the tour. *While it's not a strenuous hike by any stretch of the imagination, it's going to be at least 3-4miles over a 2.5-3.5hr stretch over a semi-steep, sandy terrain. *I wouldn't recommend bringing young kids under 7ish unless they're very well-behaved and don't easily get ants in their pants. But, that's just one asshole's opinion--you do you, boo. *Technically you **CAN** do a walk-up visit but you're relying on people to no-show or cancel ahead. I wouldn't rely on it but if you're in the area and you're willing to take a chance I say go for it. *You won't particularly need binoculars, because you'll be fairly close to the seals, but if you have them they're not a bad idea. *Def bundle-up and prepare for bad weather--as they will **NOT** cancel the tour due to rain. We got pelted w/ freezing rain and they pretty much just soldiered us onwards.
