Last minute decided to pick cherries on our Memorial Day off! So glad the ranch was open and it was our first time here. We arrived at 10:30 and there was a super long line where some ppl were cutting before turning into the ranch. Honestly wish that they could put cones along the right lane to avoid this as it took up a chunk of our time. Parking was easy as workers guided you. Cherries are about 6.50 per lb. Upon entry, they give you plastic bags of you don't have your own. The cherries were sweet, mostly ripe, firm, and ready to pick. Definitely something fun to do! The lines to pay weren't bad. They accept Apple Pay which is a plus. They also give you ticket for proof of purchase on your way out of the ranch. Overall, super organized and would do it again :)

Who's not looking for a family friendly, fun and healthy activity to do in May and June? Because cherry picking is where it's at! U Pick Orchards hosts and runs cherry picking during cherry season for a number of the local farms in Morgan Hill. Each weekend you might be picking at a different farm because if you picked at the same farm every weekend there would be no more cherries the next week! The weekend we went it was Memorial Day and Borello Farms was featuring Coral Champagne Cherries. It was $6.25 a pound and you can eat cherries for free while you pick. There's a line to get into the parking lot because everyone else wants to pick cherries too. I saw little kids, I saw grand parents. It's something that the whole family can participate in. After you park, you walk up and they give you a large plastic bag and you can go to any tree and aisle that you want to go to on the open plot. One rule is... No step stools or ladders! Because of that, it is a little more advantageous to arrive earlier in the morning. As it gets later and more picked over, you have to reach higher to get the fat, juicy, scarlet cherries. We didn't have a ladder but I was able to lift the kids up to reach some of the ripe high bunches. We picked for about an hour and got a ton of big, dark cherries that were sweet, juicy and stored in the fridge easily for two weeks. Check out is quick, they have about 10 cashiers ready to help weigh you out. The price might be a little higher per pound than your supermarket cherry specials, but figure you get to eat a 1/2 lb of cherries while you pick and then you get to take home a pound or two or three of some luscious sweet cherries. The kids in our group had a blast and so did I!

Originally found out about this place after seeing U Pick Orchards at my local Farmer's Market. Cherries at the market were $9/lb. If you go pick them yourself though it's $6.25/lb for fresh off the tree fruits and a wonderful family activity. Parking lot is medium sized but fills up fast. Plan to get there early or be prepared to circle the lot and wait for folks to trickle out. We really enjoyed our time here. Probably won't be back often, but it's a nice place to go for the experience. Would recommend heading to the trees further back since these aren't as picked over. Plastic bags provided for your picking convenience. After you're done picking, go to the tent to weigh and pay for your fruit. They give you a ticket to hand over at the gate as proof of purchase.

I'm taking 1 star because the cherry price per pound is $6.50. A bit expensive. It's usually $4/lbs. First time to visit this farm. We usually go in Brentwood every season for cherry picking. This farm didn't have much cherry variety compared to Brentwood. We were looking for rainers but no luck. This place is not bad, they have people to guide you when you enter on the parking. They also have toilets and sink to wash your hands. The family that runs the farm are nice!

Year 2 of cherry picking & I loved it! This year we went to a Gilroy location (instead of Morgan Hill) and tried out sweetheart & laipin cherries. They are delicious straight off the tree! We must have eaten a pound each & went home with 2.5 pounds of cherries that lasted about a week. It's a super pleasant way to spend an hour in the AM. The person who checked us in & out was super friendly & chatty. This is def an annual endeavor. I have to make it out earlier than mid-June so as to not kiss the season!

Amazing cherries! Sweetest, most multidimensional flavored rainier cherries I've had! They are very popular but still have trees full of fruits to pick. Low branches for a toddler too. Fun family activity. I recommend coming in the morning since the afternoon gets very hot. Wear hat/put on plenty of sunblock. $6.25/lbs which is cheaper than farmer's market. Bring your own bag if you want thicker bag that doesn't break. Looks like a family run business. Super friendly!

Family fun for all ages -- growing up, my family used to go all the way to Brentwood for cherry picking, so I was so happy to see that U Pick gave us option that was significantly closer to South Bay! I got to relive that childhood nostalgia without having to spend hours in the car. We stopped by over the Memorial weekend (right at the start of the season) and picked cherries of the coral varietal from Ranch 1. I believe the rest of the ranches with other varieties are opening in June! They have tons of parking, and the whole experience was organized. They provide bags for everyone, and the ranch was busy without being overly crowded. It's free admission, and you pay per pound of cherries. The cherries were really sweet, and we picked around ~$40 worth or ~7 pounds. Could you get cheaper fruit at the store? Sure... but it's not so much the cherries you're paying for as it is a nice afternoon activity. I went home and made a delicious cherry jam, and packaged up a ton to distribute to my friends. It warmed my heart to see all the kids with their parents and grandparents. It would've been so fun to have a picnic area or a food stall, similar to a pumpkin patch. The experience is pretty bare-bones but still a really enjoyable time.

$9.50 worth of cherries at $6.25/lb as of May 2023

I went to U Pick Orchards in Morgan Hill on Memorial Day weekend and it was so crowded! The staff tried their best to keep everybody moving though the traffic coming out of the parking lot was pretty slow because of the congestion. As of May 2023, cherries are $6.25/lb. It's more costly than some of the other farms but you pay for proximity to the bay I guess. There are plenty of trees so getting cherries was not a problem. Overall, it was a fun experience to do with families and kids.

Great place to pick cherry. Well organized, plenty of staff, plenty of parking. Cherry's are $5/lb, plastic bags are provided. They take cash and credit. Cherry's are sweet and worth the short drive. No picnic area or food served here. Just cherry picking only.

All the staff were welcoming and pleasant. We had a great time roaming through the orchards, picking cherries, and having a blast -- a fun activity with friends and families. If you have never had the experience of tasting cherries freshly picked from the tree, it is a must-try. The cost per pound of cherries picked was $6.50, which was all worth it. We tasted the sweetest and juiciest Bing cherries. Fresh-picked cherries are the best!

Fruit picking is a great family activity anytime, and especially great during COVID since it is an outdoor activity. It warmed my heart to see parents teaching their kids how to pick fruit and taking pictures of their kids in the orchard for memory sake. Also participating in the labor of picking fruit reminds us to appreciate the farm land where our food comes from. And hopefully it will encourage us to be better stewards of our earth. Prices us $5 per pound which is cheaper than supermarkets, but the real deal is the ultra fresh quality compared to supermarket offerings. U Pick Orchards have 5 ranches, each ranch produces a specific cherry variety. Ranch #1 location offers Coral Champagne Cherry variety which looks and tastes similar to the popular Bing variety - large, firm, dark, glossy, very sweet. This Coral Champagne variety is a relatively new breed from UC Davis. It has advantages over the Bing due to lower yields of double fruits and requires less hours of chilling which means easier to obtain high quality yields.

Being in shelter in place brings new activities, and not sure why the reviews are so bad from last year! I called the Sunday before and the woman who answered the phone was so friendly and knowledgable! Got here around 10 am on Saturday, and it was packed!!! Luckily we got a spot in the parking lot rather than parking on the side. It wasn't quite easy to be socially distant when entering and paying, but we had to go to the back as the trees in front were already picked clean. Though they didn't have bing or rainier cherries available, the coral champagne cherries were delicious! At $5 a lb, it isn't cheaper than the market, but it was such a fun activity to get out and do! Will definitely be back another time! Shout out to the workers working in the parking lot and payment area, so enthusiastic and helpful! They kept people moving through really quick!

They only do tastings during the summer months, so it is a bummer we can't go ahead until next year but we are totally already looking forward to it! Each ticket was $25 for adults, or anyone over 11 years old. Children under 11 are free and there are discounted prices for seniors. I want to take bet that we probably tried over 50types of peaches, nectarines, plums and other fruit varieties. And even though you are only to take 1-2 pieces of each variety, my plate was full at the end of each section. Who would've thought there are like 20+ different kinds of peaches in the Silicon Valley? Some of my favorites were the Snow Beauty peaches, the Italian Ice peaches, as well as the green gage plums. But many were delicious and after awhile, they start to taste the same but they were still flavorful. The kids enjoyed fruit picking on the tour of the orchard and were able to pick some and taste along the way. You can purchase by the pound the fruit you pick or you can get some at the store. They also sell chocolate covered treats and desserts in the shop. Overall, still highly recommend trying this out. You can also just visit them and purchase fruit by the pound. I like that they have a"cheaper" section for "ugly" fruits and I was able to snag a couple of bags of delicious peaches there.

We'll probably be making the one hour drive down every two or three weeks for the next three months. Andy's only picks fruits at the peak of ripeness and the fruits are super sweet. That also means that something that you buy today and enjoy, don't expect to find it again three weeks later. And because fruit is dependent on weather cooperation, the same fruits will not necessarily ripen at the same time each year. We brought The Princess down with us this year, so I didn't get any of the pictures that I usually take. Look at some of my older pictures to get an idea of how Andy's sells his products.

They have various types of cherries - bing, lapins, black etc. and that was the best thing about this place. The trees are have a color stripe that tells you about the types of cherries. We finally found one tree loaded with black cherries, they were small but delicious and we went overboard and picked too many. This place charges $6/lb while most others charge $.50c more. That's 50¢ cheaper than the other U-Pick orchards that are currently open and for even better cherries (imho) :-) I'm looking forward to coming back soon!

Bags are provided!
