Some really nice Bouquets
Joseph A.

Fifth Crow Farms we're at the Clement street farms market today, they had some beautiful bouquets, and a bounty of Fruit & Vegetables. More reasons to cook Beets! Certified Organic with 80 acres, 30 acres of row crops, 24 Orchard varieties, and a pastured egg operation.

Flowers I bought last Saturday for $6, already half dead on Monday :(

I bought things from them from Ferry's building farmers markets. We bought flowers and parsnip. We asked the person a couple of question and suggestions on how to cook it and some questions. He was trying not to engage and was rude the entire time. We try to go and support local farms but this type of behavior was really not nice. Not planning to get other things from them.

thanks chickens, I made ice cream and pasta and scrambled eggs this weekend.

Let's get a few things out of the way: 1) If you see this stand at your farmer's market, stop by to pick up some delicious produce and eggs. They sometimes have beans and fun items like pancake mix too. 2) If you're considering joining the CSA, it's amazing. The items included in the weekly box are always beautiful (this is no exaggeration). Also Teresa will email you earlier in the week so you know what to expect, in case you're trying to plan meals. She also sends out a bulk price list for items which is great if you're hosting a party or want a lot of something (note: a flat of strawberries is a lot of strawberries but you will be able to eat them all or give them away to friends). 3) If you're in the neighborhood the farm is a cool place to visit, though they're not really set up to do tours (they have self-guided maps). They have chickens, cows, and pigs. I first found out about Fifth Crow Farm two years ago when I started going to the San Mateo Farmer's Market. It quickly became one of my favorite stands - really great food and super-friendly people. Earlier this year I picked up a flyer for their CSA. From a totally utilitarian perspective it didn't really make sense to join - the most convenient pick-up location was the Saturday San Mateo market, so why commit to a weekly box full of things not of my choosing? I had recently made my way through a series of food-related books and documentaries (mostly about local and sustainable food), so the idea of getting to know (and showing support for) the farmers feeding my family was somewhat appealing. I was also stuck in a bit of a spinach-arugula-broccoli-cabbage rut, and it was pretty clear that the first year of my little backyard gardening experiment wasn't going to be feeding me this summer, so I signed up for a box and a 1/2 dozen eggs. About a month-and-a-half in, I've been super happy with it. This past Sunday Fifth Crow Farms hosted an open house, so I took Camille along. It was my first visit to the farm. Really enjoyed seeing Teresa and Mike (and the other farmers) in their element, and it was clear that they spent a lot of time preparing for their guests. After savoring the two weekly baskets of perfect strawberries, consuming tons of eggs (got 18 this week), and experimenting with some new vegetables, I found it really satisfying to see the strawberry patch, chicken coops, and rows of produce soaking up the bright California sunshine.

R&R Fresh Herbs - So sweet and tasty

This little Roadside convenient shop Is a mystery wrapped in a riddle…read more Who are they? Why not sign out front? Is this a front for a big peanut? What does R&R even stand for? "Rest and relaxation"? "Root beer and rum"? Maybe we will never know. Let's get the easy stuff out of the way:: Ambience: you wouldn't even know the places there if you don't have a map leading you there or a referral from a local unfortunately. Not sure why they don't have a sign out. Service is a little irrelevant since there is simply a person behind the counter checking you out. Now onto the product: there really is only one offering that is hard to pass these guys by for if you're in Pascadero area: R&R offer a cup of peanut for $4 that is magically delicious and snackable. did President Jimmy Carter have peanuts this delicious from his peanut farm? I submit that he did not? Pro tip: Do not have them around if you feel an oncoming snack attack. You'll possibly consume the entire cup o' vegan legumes which brings me to an interesting factoid: did you know that a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut? It is indeed a legume. The peanut is more like one of those hideous lentils then delicious pea or a delicious nut. Why!? This seems so unnecessary. I wouldn't be surprised to find That President Jimmy Carter President Obama somehow Secretly teamed up to rename and re-categorize what is clearly a nut into a legume. This is much the way the President Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Mara Lago or whatever it was. A little personal story about R&R: it was the case that when I moved away from the central coast I found myself trying to replicate these tastey legumes By cooking peanuts in the oven at my new home which is 6300 feet above sea level. Many calculations must be made to adjust For cooking at that altitude versus at sea I think I have come close To replicating them but still no dice. I cannot get quite the coverage of salty goodness to adhere to the Redskins the way they have. This is my main struggle in life right now I have been trying to replicate this spicy peanut extravaganza and not really getting very close. Still worth it to just buy it here.

They have rows and rows of raspberries, blackberries, olallaberries, and strawberries. They were sweet, delicious, and stayed nice for a while in our fridge. I highly recommend R&R to anyone in the bay area looking for a fun PYO berries experience in picturesque Pescadero.

I stopped by Forever Bloom Farmstand on my way to Swanton Berry Farm to pick up pies for…read moreThanksgiving. The farm stand is located along a windy country road in Pescadero. I absolutely loved the slow drive in. I was greeted by a super friendly golden retriever when I stepped out of my car. And otherwise didn't come into contact with anyone else which makes sense since it's on an honor system. I was looking for wreaths that I saw on their Instagram and found beautiful succulent filled pumpkins and other treats instead. I am looking forward to adding this stop to my Pescadero day trip itinerary which includes Fish tacos at the gas station, artichoke bread from the deli, and Harley Farms goat cheese.

I loved the arrangements, the prices very affordable, the simplicity and elegance and the pretty factor of the cute stand with the (of course) super cute florist dressed in what I suspect and adorable modelito from Anthropology store (I might be wrong but she looked like from one of their catalogs). Even her tattoos were a total match in this ensemble. No wonder there is always a long line of people trying to get their bouquets there and by the end of the farmers' market time (around 8 pm) you don't find anything left. Go visit and see from yourself and...I would never say no from flowers coming from anyone! (especially if they look as fresh and good as the Forever Bloom).
