Enjoyed a wonderful snorkeling tour using this company. They were very organized. Before getting on the boat, we had to remove our shoes - OK NP as they locked them up. Once on the boat, they went over the safety rules & really stressed about how rough the water was - yes, they were right about that! As the water was so rough, the snorkeling takes place about 10 minutes after the boat leaves the dock - yes, that is right - I was surprised too! Apparently, the Napali coast is too rough for snorkeling so they have you do in in a calmer spot which had a ton of fish & sea turtles. The water was rough in this area as people got out earlier than usual. We continued along the coast & then finally got to the Napali coast which is breathtaking. However, the water is VERY rough & several people were sick on the boat. The staff were great at guiding the sick people to the back of the boat & to help them. Lunch was served very late - I was not happy about this so didn't eat much as I didn't want to spoil dinner. It was cold cuts & thick bread. Be sure to get in line early or you'll see people using their fingers to pick up food - yuk! read more

Absolutely fantastic sunset tour of the Na Pali coast. The view speaks for itself, so I would like to recognize the absolutely fantastic Captain, Jay Cee, and her Crew, Jace and Colin. Jay Cee is a native of Kauai and shared so much information about the coast line and history. She was such an incredible host and Captain, so funny and personable and had a fantastic music playlist that added to the fun of the trip. She was just so cool, I am so glad we got her boat. Jace and Colin came around the whole tour to answer questions, bring water and refills and help passengers who were having a hard time navigating around the boat due to the choppy water. Amazing people. I felt so safe in this teams care on this trip. I will say that the water is very choppy. We got a very placid day and were incredibly lucky with the timing of our tour. Most days the water can be up to 10 or 15 ft waves. Take Dramamine or Bonnine an hour before your trip and listen to the crew as they detail how to handle motion sickness. It is not listed on the site but you can wear close-toed shoes on the boats. You need to be barefoot if you are wearing sandals. You will get very wet! Amazing time. read more

This trip was truly unreal and one of the most amazing things we have ever done (the pictures don't do it justice)! The boat ride definitely isn't for the faint of heart (lots of waves and bumps), but as someone who struggles with seasickness, we did really well in the front of the boat with some Bonine on board, and it was 100% worth the life-changing experience! Captain Evan, Ruby, & Jared made this trip outstanding. The views were unbelievable, the history the team shared was fascinating, and we had the best time. The weather didn't cooperate for us, so we unfortunately weren't able to make it to Niihau. Having said that, the trip was absolutely worth it even without that leg included, and the company gave us a refund for the difference of the tour price, which was so nice! We took the Sunset cruise with Captain Nate and crew Nicole and Charli. The crew was amazing and attentive! They did everything they could to make everyone's trip memorable and safe. Double tipping - they charged my sister twice for the tip she put on the signature. Then they added an extra 0 to our tip. This isn't a coincidence. You total the sum at the bottom so they know what they're doing. A lot of businesses do this as standard practice, hoping that you won't notice because they can always claim it was a "mistake." 5 Stars to the Blue Dolphin Crew! We did the afternoon snorkel and dinner cruise - and it was everything we were hoping for!!! The crew could not have been nicer. They took the time to connect with each person on the boat. They were always ready to take photos, help you in any way, and were not skimpy on the beverage service. Keep in mind, this is not a romantic dinner cruise where you will gently glide through the sunset. Wear a swimsuit, bring a towel. You'll be exploring the rugged Napali coast, be splashed in the pacific, running with spinner dolphins, and even get dunked in waterfalls. It was an exceptional trip, and how we ended our week in Kauai. The 1 hour snorkel portion was also fantastic. We found a quiet cove with woads of fish. Getting in and out of the boat was easy with the giant swim platform and sturdy ladder. There were noodles, great gear, a fresh water nozzle and it felt very safe. Dinner was a filling Hawaiian plate with port and or chicken, salad and sticky rice. Filling and tasty, washed down with unlimited beverages. If you get sea-sick, take your dramamine. The seas are rolling, and there were some people that didn't fare as well as others. All in all - YES YES YES you want to do this trip! I booked the Niihau & NaPali Coast Snorkel Tour 2 months before my vacation. It is offered 2 times a week. Blue Dolphin called me the week of my vacation, 6 days before my tour to notify me that my tour was being cancelled for low attendance. They offered to rebook me for a different day, but I've already made plans for the other days in my vacation and can't move them around. What a joke, I rebooked my tour with their competitor, Holo Holo Charters. To the management of Blue Dolphin, there are multiple ways you can handle this better. You should have let me know earlier that you are canceling my tour. You can't let me know less than a week in advance and reasonably expect me to shift my plans around to a different day. Alternatively, just run the tour at a loss. You committed to selling this tour, you should honor your side of the bargain. That is the cost of doing business. Another alternative, if the tour isn't filling up, try offering discounts on the days leading up to the tour to entice others to books. Another alternative, offer to rebook me a different day, but give me a discount for the inconvenience of having to shift my other vacation plans around. There are several better ways of handling this, none of which you took. I recommend you reconsider this business practice of canceling tours less than 1 week before. I will not be recommending Blue Dolphin charters to my family and friends or purchasing their other tours. read more

Did a 2 hour sunset/whale watching cruise. Crew was extremely communicative, friendly and kept the drinks/snacks flowing even while we were focused on the whales. Special shout out to Jayce who ran around giving drinks with a smile after a 12 hour work day. Got lucky and saw multiple whale sightings but it's nice just to be on the water and see the amazing ocean. Multiple levels on the catamaran to enjoy but it still is a boat on the ocean so use some common sense on if it's for you or not read more

First off know what you are getting into before booking this trip! It's an adventure not a calm romantic cruise. The first mate told me the western waters of Kauai are THE ROUGHEST waters in all of Hawaii. Charters in Maui and Oahu cancel trips when the water gets as rough as the ones on this trip to Na'pali. I give Blue Dolphin 5 stars because the crew was awesome (Captain Evan and crew). They were very informative and accommodating to all guests. One crew member went out of his way to meet and talk to every family on the boat. They passed out snacks and drinks and you can tell they like their job which is a sign of a good company. The food was very good on the sunset cruise and the unlimited beer, wine and mai thais are great! Seriously drink up on the way back as it will help you not get sea sick! I give this trip 4 stars! It is not a bucket list trip as many call it. It's got some really pretty scenery and we got to see dolphins which was amazing. The snorkel spot was good with lots of fish near the surface. We snorkeled for only about 30 minutes which was fine for my family. And as someone afraid of the ocean I felt very safe for some reason. But just know the waters are VERY VERY rough. Two people got sick but my wife and I took our Dramamine (which is a MUST in my opinion) and we were totally fine. Our kids didn't get sick so don't worry about kids being nauseous as they can handle it. They got scared twice though with how much water came crashing on board and drenching us. The sunset was okay but being from California I've seen pretty epic sunsets on the regular so it's nothing to write home about. Overall it's a great ADVENTURE. Not for the faint of heart who think they are doing to take a leisure little cruise out to some beautiful landscape, swim with dolphins and sip wine as the sun goes down. You might get some of that but expect to get wet, bounced around by the waves and lots of salt water in the face and you'll have a great time! read more

Recently took a snorkeling trip to the Napoli coast and it was great! the crew members were: captain Ellia, DJ, Jr, and Jarrett, and they were all very helpful and fun to be around. The boat does get rocky so I would not recommend this to people who are susceptible to motion sickness or young kids also because the snorkeling is for a more advanced swimmer. Our trip started at 7am with a cinnamon role breakfast. The journey to the Napoli coast is around an hour and a half. The view of the coast was astounding and the snorkeling was too. After the snorkeling, you get a sandwich lunch and a tour along the coast. Captain Ellia was very informative and hilarious. Overall 10/10 experience. read more

This was our 2nd trip with Blue Dolphin Charters and they did not fail to exceed our expectations one again. We sailed with Cpt. ?, Ruby, and Jayce and they were excellent (even though I can't remember the Captains name). My wife has trouble walking long distances and they accommodated us...all we had to do was ask. I read many of the complaints regarding Blue Dolphin tours, and I can say that for both of our trips, I have not experienced any problems. We arrived early to find the crew cleaning the boat top to bottom and preparing everything for a great cruise. We did the whale watching tour and we saw a lot of whales. The captain kept us on them as they moved around, in fact we had one swim directly under the boat and break right in front of us. I heard a complaint about the boats being rust buckets. There is rust for sure...the boat is in the ocean, and even though maintenance is a regular thing, rust still happens. Don't let the naysayers spoil a great trip. We have tried other providers, and we have found that Blue Dolphin Charters is far superior. read more

Five Star Five Star!!! This was the funnest experience I have had on Kawaii and Captain Roy and his lovely two ship mates made it a incredible experience! We were lucky enough to get two spots on their 4pm whale watching excursion as they had a last minute cancellation. If looking online and no openings you might want to call to make sure as that is what we did. We arrived at 4pm and around 420 we walked down the street to the marina. You park in a gravel lot closest to the marina ( we parked in the lot but spots were small ) as we didn't read that we should park in gravel lot. We boarded the catamaran with around 40 other people and lots of seats on top and below. My 84 yo mom had no problem boarding but she is mobile. We started out and immediately saw spinner dolphins and a humpback. We watched the humpback for a while then went down toward Poipu where we watched two pods of humpbacks for a hour. The ship keeps a respectable ( and legal )100 yard distance but the whales can swim closer to boat, this time they didn't but still such a awesome show ! Soda, Beer, Wine and Mai Tais we're served as well as a little appetizer bar which was unexpected and delicious. They played Hawaiian music and the vibe was perfect. We watched the whales for a hour then head back to port with a beautifully sunset in the background. We had so much fun! Best $190ish ( not including a $20 tip we gave when we departed) They will have you sign your card receipt when heading back so if you want to tip on card you can but they kept the drinks flowing it was a fabulous 2.5 ish out on the water evening ( advertised as two ). Love that the boat wasn't packed, everyone had enough room to enjoy the views and their space. As some noted the ocean is rough. When signing up I didn't think twice but there were some moments when I was holding on for a few moments, no joke. But overall the cruise is pretty stable. There was nothing romantic! We were served in paper plates (rice, teriyaki chicken, and a salad). It was so difficult to eat based on the waves, open bar was pointless it was impossible to grab on for your dear life & a drink. There was a total of 5 people vomiting, an older person fell and severely scraped his knee, we even had 4 young adults also scraped due to falling. This boat is not suited for "romantic dinner" and should be advertised as "a thriller sunset ride" This is something that should be shared since the beginning!
