From start to finish, BDC were laser focused on providing a memorable snorkeling experience. Captain Joe was outstanding and in command of our charter. Expect excellent explanation of what you need to do for a successful adventure. Safety clearly is a BDC. We requested wetsuits which fit everyone nicely. They offer half-suits, which are fine given the warm water you're snorkeling in. It's about a two hour ride to the snorkeling area. Breakfast is a delicious, warm cinnamon roll along with fresh fruit. Once you arrive, the area is teaming with fish. Along with a wide variety of fish, there were a couple of sea turtles. After about an hour in the water, the trip continued along the shore and topped off with Capt. Joe giving us a close up look at one of the many waterfalls. He literally took the ship into the rushing water. On the way back to port, everyone was treated to Mai Tai, wine, beer and soft drinks. Beverage service is followed by lunch including pulled pork or turkey sandwiches. I recommend the pulled pork. The crew not only serves you, they were seemingly everywhere checking to see if we wanted anything. Our trip back was a little rough because of winds. For the smoothest trip, I recommend the early morning excursion. Mornings are less likely to have strong winds. All in all, great adventure thanks to the pros at BDC. Mahalo! read more

I don't fully remember everyone's name but what I do remember is that the whole crew was amazing! JR went above and beyond to make sure we had a good morning on our snorkel cruise. Our captain (didn't catch his name but he harvests Paakai with his ʻohana and doubles as a photographer) was super kind and gave an informative yet fun tour. The other girl and guy on the boat were also very accommodating and when I started feeling sea sick they all made sure to check on me to make sure I was okay. The conditions were great so our amazing captain gave us a chance to go under a waterfall as well. I unfortunately didn't get to drink a mai tai because I got sea sick but the availability of food and drinks was far more than I expected for this cruise. I'm from Oahu and have done tours there but I've never had an experience like this. P.S. let JR know I'm his biggest fan he was sooo great! First things first, the sunset dinner tour of the NaPali Coast was amazing. Customer service is great, we were offered a refund or a tour of the south shore due to unsafe conditions on the NaPali Coast. I asked if rebooking was an option and thankfully they did have availability to rebook our party of 8 during our stay. They did call a couple days prior to let us know that our originally booking wouldn't proceed. They also called us a couple days prior to confirm our rebooked trip and gave us all the relevant information for our tour. The crew was awesome and so attentive to passenger needs. I loved hearing about the legends and history of the coastline. The food was great. This tour was the highlight of the trip! I have never seen somewhere so beautiful in my life and Blue Dolphin Charters made it such an enjoyable experience. We were also blessed with the presence of whales and dolphins on our trip! I don't know if I'll ever visit again but if I do I look forward to booking one of their other tours for sure. Tip: if you get motion sick, take Dramamine. I know I do and I took one an hour prior to leaving port and I was perfectly fine the entire trip. I would also encourage you to have everyone in your party take it regardless of if they think they will be fine. We did a Whale watching trip with Captain Kai and his crew and it was amazing from beginning to end. Captain found a Mother and her calf and we followed them for over an hour. Blue Dolphin Charter provided excellent service on our recent boat tour of the Napali Coast. From the beginning, the company provided several emails detailing information and status of our reservation. On the day of our excursion, we checked in, and the captain met us and walked the group down to the harbor. The crew was very friendly, professional and well organized. Once we went over basic safety on the boat, we were underway. The captain told us some of the history of the area, and was quite fun and entertaining. We were served a light breakfast and spotted several dolphins along the way. The captain brought us very close for a beautiful view of the cliffs and jagged coastline. We saw several sea caves and small hidden beaches. At one point the ship went directly under one of the falls, allowing people to get wet if they desired. After the boat was pulled into a shallow cove, the crew went over the snorkeling gear that was provided, and then we were in the water. There were many tropical fish to see and I was able to capture many of them on my camera. We had about an hour to enjoy swimming and snorkeling, before we climbed back aboard for some lunch. The bar was then opened for some fresh Mai Tais as we headed back to the port. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed this adventure. We said goodbye and tipped the crew for all their work to make this a memorable day. I highly recommend Blue Dolphin for your Napali Coast tour. The large pontoon boat is very comfortable and stable. You know you're in trouble when the Captain can't get the catamaran out of the harbor! It all went down hill from then on. It is not a sailing cruise is a loud diesel engine, which was so loud you couldn't hear ANY of the announcements or highlights of what you were seeing. There were very few opportunities to grab a limited amount of soft drinks since there were only two decks hands. I could live with that, but what was hard to accept was the dinner. For the amount of money this "dinner cruise" costs, I expected at least edible food, served professionally and someplace to eat other than my lap!!! This cruise is definitely a disappointment all the way around, do yourself a solid and check out other options!!! It didn't ruin my vacation, but it has left me wondering if anyone knows what service means. read more

We did the Nihau Snorkel tour. Went to Nihau and snorkeled for an hour then sailed all the way up the Napali Coast. It was so beautiful , my 2nd cruise while I was in Kauai. They provided lunch as well. Similar to the other cruise I did , they tell you history of the island and what movies were filmed here. The crew couldn't have been better, they kept coming around to check on each person to make sure no one was getting sea sickness. Advise to stand up the entire time if possible. This ride got very choppy crossing from Nihau and back , I got a little queasy but only when I was sitting down. Wish we could have snorkeled longer but I was a great way to see the Napali Coast and get as close as you are allowed to Nihau. read more

Been on numerous experiences on every island throughout my years and these guys where polite, respectful, business like, and gave excellent service throughout. As for the lunch, best meal I've had on a tour. Easy to handle even though the wind was blowing 25 mph and we where hitting some great waves! The captain was legit! He handled the boat great in the big swells and was excellent on the mic and made sure everyone was very aware of all the rules. His crew was also right on top off it! Didn't ever need to move they would have brought you everything you wanted! Gave a great explanation of the rules and snorkel equipment. Oh did I say it's all you can drink on the way home! Well get a designated driver and do some day drinking on the way back! Your on vacation! There where some wildlife we saw also! bottle nose, spinners , turtles, and a few fish. We learned so much about Hawaiian names, history and just the island of Kauai itself. We saw whales even though it's very near the end of their season in Kauai. Great tour, awesome boat, and an amazing crew! My family and I signed up for the Deluxe morning Napali Snorkel tour. Blue Dolphin Charters contacted me several days before our tour to notify us that we would likely encounter larger than normal swells during our selected tour day. Because of this they offered to switch our date at no extra charge. I was thankful that they were looking out for us even before we boarded! Once on the boat, everything was smooth sailing. Our crew was FANTASTIC! Thank you Captain Nate, Brian, and Jase. There were pretzel snacks and fruit available throughout the entire trip along with WARM cinnamon rolls for breakfast and deli wraps and chips for lunch. The crew also went around several times passing out water and there were soda and alcoholic beverages available after lunch. Snorkeling was fun, but the spot we were at was not the clearest, bluest water I've been to. Regardless, the boat had everything needed for snorkeling! If you read reviews, PLEASE note that, especially in winter, the winds and/or waves can make for a rough sail for the second half of the ride up the coast. TAKE DRAMAMINE and wear sea bands! There were at least a half dozen people on our trip that got sick - some very much so - and it's a miserable experience when you're stuck on the boat for hours, as helpful as the crew is. Just finished the deluxe Napoli snorkel tour, and what an unforgettable experience it was! Our tour began with some delicious breakfast on the boat. We were given fresh fruit and also some delicious cinnamon rolls! There was also coffee and all sorts of local juices to choose from. Our tour continued and our captain, Evan, knew exactly where to go to find pods of dolphins, and we were able to see so many! They even swam next to our boat which was incredibly cool to see! We even got a chance to see a giant sea turtle, and eagle rays in the water as well. Captain Evan is very knowledgeable about the island, and he even took us up close to different caves, waterfalls, and to places where movies like Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. The tour provided us with all of our snorkeling gear which was wonderful. They had life vests, noodles, and just about everything you need to make your snorkeling experience as enjoyable as possible. They even have a slide on board and you can slide right into the water, which of course my wife and I decided to do because who wouldn't love to slide into the Pacific ocean?! We were then provided with lunch, which consisted of either a ham or turkey wrap. We had one of each, and both were exactly what we needed after a long day in the sun. They also had baby carrots, chips, sodas, beer, mai tai, and many other options! Finally, I cannot begin to explain how grateful and appreciative we were of the entire crew. Huge shoutout to Jayce for being such a cool guy and giving us all the rules and regulations for the boat and snorkeling! And who can forget Nicole and Zolie?! These 2 young ladies were always walking around the boat passing out water, collecting trash, and just making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves! The staff here are incredibly attentive and helpful. The cruise itself is lovely unless you get even the slightest bit seasick. I have never gotten seasick before in my entire life and have ridden in many boats before all around the world, but I got extremely sick on this ride despite the crew saying it was the smoothest day. Definitely not the crew's fault and you could definitely see they were used to passengers getting sick as they have many barf bags handy and were always ready with napkins, ice chips and a consoling smile. If you do not get seasick on this ride (ours was five hours long and I got sick pretty soon after we pulled out), it is quite lovely and you get lunch and there's a full bar as well. Just be aware it's a very choppy ride and to take your Dramamine the night before. read more

My family and I did the morning raft tour and while parts of the experience were enjoyable - like snorkeling and riding through the caves - our captain made the experience uncomfortable. We had Luke, who did not seem to enjoy working on the raft and was rude when my dad asked him questions about Kauai. When we stopped to eat lunch, he was speaking with one of the couples and made racist and transphobic comments. Mind you this is a small raft, so you can hear everyone's conversations and it wasn't something he was trying to hide. Jojo who was the other Blue Dolphin Charter employee on the raft was great and the other employees at the office when we checked in that day were friendly as well. I also want to note that I called Blue Dolphin Charters a few days after our experience to give them the opportunity to address the concern before I posted a review sharing our negative experience with one of the crew members. The employee I spoke with said the manager would give me a call back and took down my phone number. However, it's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't received a phone call or voicemail from them. I'm disappointed that they don't take concerns of one of their employees making racist and transphobic comments seriously and would not recommend them to other travelers. read more
