It was during still heavy mask required time for Covid-19's and I had to visit this hotel property next door for a listing so money talked and took a chance with masked meeting and stopped in for a late lunch. I'm surprised that I don't have a published review of this establishment since I have been here several times. I even brought my mother once. In previous occasions It has been weekend drive stops. I can not remember if it was a menu item or a Special, but I tried their Prime Ribs cooked to order and there were delicious meals. I liked the Lemon Greek Soup. A whole small round loaf is brought with plenty of butter to the table. Very good. When Mom came we had the Spared Ribs Dinner. We enjoyed that and a very big piece of Chocolate Cake my Mom's favorite. I started with the Lemon Greek Soup. This time I had the Chicken Garlic over Tortellini. Delicious. The Greek salad tasted as though the lettuce was not washed. The leaves were slightly browned and not fresh. The only good thing about it was the feta cheese. The spaghetti was typical diner spaghetti. Nothing special. The tomato sauce is on the sweet side, just as marissa said. Personally, I didn't like it. The two meatballs it comes with were flavorless, small, and dry. We didn't eat them. His friend ate them and didn't like them either. Just hungry. We can't recommend this dish if you make the mistake of coming here. His friends omelette was average. It's an omelette and it's pretty hard to mess that up (unless it's undercooked or over cooked lol). DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF ORDERING THE OVERPRICED DIRTY SHRIMP COCKTAIL!!!!! She brought this out and I immediately noticed one of the shrimp was not even cleaned. Inedible. How could a chef serve this?! We sent that one back. Upon trying the other shrimp I thought were actually cleaned, found ANOTHER shrimp that was not cleaned. WTF. Done. Sent the dish back. My boyfriend asked a different waitress if it could please be removed from the bill and we would get the gyro instead. Gyro is average for a diner. Again the lettuce was brown and not fresh. Otherwise it was ok. Fries were plain. Didn't eat them. The coleslaw was brown, visually could see it's not fresh. Didn't touch that either. Marissa never returned to check on us. She was absent a majority of our visit here. Bad service guys!! Come on now. It's their job to check on their customers and make sure everything is okay. Ridiculous. We had to stop other busy waitresses and ask for their help. Felt bad for them. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!! Especially with Perkins next door. Our mistake coming here. We ask a waitress walking by if we could please get our check. Marissa gives us the check and bolts in the middle of my boyfriend saying he will give her his card right now. She replies "the girl with the glasses at the register can help." So we go to the register. The girl with the glasses said "you ate them all though." We say no we didn't because there were uncleaned shrimp and we had to send it back. She goes to confirm this with the waitress. Comes back and says she "can't take that off the manager has to but he left to take a nap at home since he was there since 5am." So we had to pay for the shrimp we didn't eat and sent back because they were full of feces. $51 for three people. Too much for a P.O.S. diner!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. A manager should be present at all times for quality control. If I could give less than one star, this place has earned it today. Shame. Walking past the dessert case was a pop quiz in self-restraint - an assortment of gorgeous 6-8-10" tall layer cakes, lemon merengue and coconut cream pies, the last slice or two of a once 2' long-ish whole napoleon cake, cherry cheese puffs the size of bacon cheeseburgers, oh ma gawd. I have some friends who grew up in Apalachin, NY and when I told them Apalachin is "Home of the Blue Dolphin," they were pretty amazed I knew that tidbit of info. Well, I dined here in the 1990s with a large group of Scouts on our way back from Ohio. I really enjoyed the food here and the friendly staff did a great job in serving the needs our large group. Conveniently located off Route 17 (Future I-86) at Exit 66, the Blue Dolphin Restaurant has been one of my standby choices for a good meal when I pass through the Southern Tier. There's a large blue dolphin statue on the roof that's hard to miss! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the place is very casual and offers a good selection of typical American and Greek diner fare and homemade baked goods. The prices are reasonable. I stop here in particular for the Greek food and usually get the Chicken Souvlaki or Mousaka with rice and salad, very tasty and filling. So many other choices to try next time! read more

So nothing really exciting to look at. Its a diner, you're not there for the ambiance. My daughter ordered a fruit salad. Shouldnt be hard to do. Cut up some fruit and put it in a bowl. It was awful. For some unknown reason, they cover the fruit in actual granular sugar and then some corn syrup or other sweetener. We asked if we could have some that wasnt ruined, but were told no. Tried to dip it in water to rinse at least some of the pieces off, but it was gross. read more

I have enjoyed going to the Blue Dolphin to eat for many years, the food is good quality and reasonably priced. Today I was disappointed before I even placed my order, I was informed that they are no longer making the homemade bread, the bread is one of the reasons why I frequently come here. The homemade bread reminds my significant other of his grandmas bread, we often end up recalling memories of good times spent with family sharing a Sunday dinner with family. Please listen to one of your loyal customers and do whatever you have to do to bring back the homemade bread. I am sure that we are not the only ones who feel this way! read more

We had the Yankee Pot Roast special which included soup, mashed potatoes and warm bread. We ordered an additional salad. It was enough both of us and it was delicious. The blue dolphin has been hit or miss for me. I've only been here for breakfast in recent years and while my last meal was decent I've had other ones where I left unsatisfied. On my most recent visit had had a pancake that was good, I liked the texture and the flavor but other times the pancakes were totally different. I think most diners buy a mix for their cakes, so I feel like the dolphin might just use different ones sometimes. The home fries were ok on my last visit, they needed salt and pepper (which I added) but the texture was good. I remember being underwhelmed before. The eggs were ok, I've had better, same with the sausage. I like the atmosphere here and the service has been pretty good, it's a lot better than the new place next door. Honestly, I'm never really in Appalachian for breakfast, if I am it's because I made it a point to go out of my way to try something, and I don't think the dolphin is worth going out of the way for. read more

Went there for lunch and never regretted it. Hostess was friendly and seated us right away. Waitress was very professional and served us right away as well. Food was delicious and generously portioned. Authentic Greek cuisine. I had fried calamari over linguine with Greek salad and it was amazing. Calamari were crispy yet soft to chew and homemade tomato sauce was reasonably spiced. My boys each had gyro wrap with fries and it was delicious but a bit dry. Nice place to go for lunch and breakfast. They follow COVID-19 regulations, tables are sanitized and social distancing rules are observed. My guests got the Gyro with french fries, a Reuben on rye bread and a Montecristo sandwich. They were all pleased with their sandwiches. The French fries were nice and crispy, the Cole slaw was on the sweet side. In reference to another review the Montecristo was on Texas toast which might've been a little thick for my taste too. But the Reuben being on rye was a normal slice. Even though the restaurant warned of slow service I found it responsive; restaurants in general have service issues because they can't hire enough staff these days. Our waitress evidently had trouble working up some enthusiasm for waitressing, since she just about tossed the silverware on the table. We both ordered NE clam chowder which was good and served hot. The rest of our lunch was ok, served by another waitress. Nobody came to clear the soup bowls, and very little attention was paid to us. I don't expect fawning, but a bit of customer service would've been nice. Our original server seemed busy doing other things, like walking around the back, speaking to people at another table, and doing paperwork at the counter. When we were ready to leave, I had to get somebody else to bring a to-go box for my 1/2 wrap, as well as the check. The young lady at the register was on a personal call and paid no attention to us.
